okay something about cacti flowers always gets me like look at this. look at how much effort has been put into these ginormous flowers with the hopes of reproducing. they’re literally like a third her size each, and of course she needs to put up four, and knowing cacti they won’t last for long (will come up and wilt off within 24-48 hours)…i remember back when i worked at a community greenhouse in the summer and i always was overjoyed when the cacti bloomed, because sometimes they were suuuuper tiny (like an inch or two tall) and would still produce these fucking MASSIVE flowers, EASILY twice as large as the entire plant. just comically enormous in comparison. not to mention that its a cactus, so you never get to really ‘see’ them change on our timescale until they decide to announce to the world that they would like sex right now immediately in the most flamboyant and conspicuous way possible before abruptly going back to the way they were before like 48 hours later. they never fail to suprise me.
