"Bird!”
Amari, the two-year-old sat in the middle of the carpet who Barnaby will meet with his inviting himself in, is somewhat correct.
She sits on the carpet, having abandoned her attempts at coloring to stare at Barnaby, mouth open and absolutely transfixed. It’s only the sound of Tasi slamming the door that moves her, although she’s remarkably chill for a child of her age. She only continues to look at the huge ghost, up until the point that Tasi, a Swiffer snatched from beside the door as her new weapon, prepares to attack again.
“Get the fuck out of my house,” Tasi demands, swinging at Barnaby from behind.
This time she hits her target- sort of. Barnaby’s a ghost, and as useful as they are a Swiffer is no magical artifact, so it goes right through him harmlessly. He only dodged the swung trash earlier for a laugh, sadly.
He scurries over and ducks down to scoop up Amari, cradling her in his wings awkwardly.
“Well hewwo!” he chirps, beaming from ear to fluffy ear even as he looks back towards poor Tasi. He suddenly starts pretending to ballroom dance with Amari in his grasp, stepping gracefully between paper and scattered crayons to some nonexistent tune. “Aren’t you just cute as a button- and the quite the skilled dancer, too!”
