I've been wondering this for a while now but I wanna know your thoughts

is there any particular reason why you don't engage with the borderlands fandom?

I don't have anything to say

I don't make art/write

I post only self-made stuff on my blog

I forget to interact with the fandom

I don't know how this site works

There's a lack of official content

There's a lack of fan-made "content"

Multiple of these

I am afraid of posting (bcs of politics/bullying)

If there are any other particular reasons not listed, feel free to let me know. I want this fandom to thrive once again but it feels like barely anyone on here cares that much about it.

I have a lot of interests but more specifically, I don't get a lot out of drawings I spend time on when it comes to the borderlands fandom since it's become so small nowadays

Plus I find interacting with the fandom really difficult at times. Of course there are hundreds of really smart, fun, and talented people but usually to get to those people you have to dig through the thousands that want to tear you apart because liking or disliking a specific character immediately makes you a moral stain. It's exhausting. And as a handsome Jack fan it's even worse 😭

It's like I have to disclose that he's a horrible person and I don't support his actions every time I discuss or post about him because there's one half of the fandom who will immediately assume you agree with his stances and morals. Like what the fuck? I don't support his ideals, I don't support his actions, most of us don't since he's a genocidal megalomaniac, but I still love him AS A CHARACTER because having a monster as a character is more interesting than plain cookie cutter shit. You can always dislike someone's favorite but it goes too far when you go beyond just saying "I don't agree because (xy and z reasons)." He's not a hero and never has been, and I'm not an apologist he did all that shit and should be held to the death penalty, but I'm also not going to grovel and make myself more ideal to public opinion by claiming I don't love him.

Of course this doesn't go for everyone, but I'm mostly just tired of the constant negativity the fans hold towards both the games itself and each other. Can we all just enjoy these games and not be at each other's throats?

I should add, this doesn't go towards actual valid criticism, though I still believe even with critical lenses you shouldn't go out of your way to attack and harass people under the guise of "educating". There's a way to provide critical context, and screaming at people over and over until they go away only makes your point seem smaller and smaller to them.
