pros of not eating :
i feel light
i can feel my body eating away my fat
i feel dainty and fragile
i can fast for days with caffeine
iām gonna be a skinny legend
cos of not eating:
I C A N N O T P O O P
C O N S T I P A T I O N
Some more cons of not eating:
- heart palpitations
- dizzy and nauseous all the time
- hair falling out
- brittle nails
- dry skin
- body hair everywhere
- brain fog
- family/ friends/ loved ones worrying
- shaking
- fainting and passing out
- constantly weak and tired
- not being able to sleep
- canāt even focus or think about anything too hard because you canāt concentrate
- having to lie all the time so people donāt worry (they still worry, though)
- intense anxiety from nearly anything because everything has the chance of having food
- isolating yourself from friends because they always want to eat
The āprosā of not eating (aka literally starving yourself) do NOT outweigh the cons. Do not make it seem like they do- youre just encouraging more people to engage in harmful and potentially deadly behaviors.
the issue with "not pro just using tags"
Alright, this might be a long and possibly controversial one but someone did ask for me to make a post about it, and since it's definitely something I have Thoughts on, I have obliged.
Many people have used that tag and still continue to do so, because how else are you supposed to share your posts without expressing the fact that you're not pro ana? Except the issue is the fact that you're sharing your posts. You may not intend for others to develop an ED, and you certainly may not wish for it to happen, but the fact is that by purposely choosing to display harmful ED content, you are contributing to the problem.
I understand that some people need a place to let out their emotions and participate in a community to feel less alone, and that's okay. I used to have a public ED account a year or so back, and once I realized what I was doing, I quickly shut it down and made a private blog where I can reblog things that I want to keep for myself. It does not matter how many times you tag a post with "not pro", or "just for me", or make warning posts telling others this isn't a joke, you are still contributing to the problem.
When you reblog a thinspo imagine or a meanspo or anything of the sort, you are showing an already ill and misguided audience a post that will only serve to further trigger them. It does not matter if it's only for you, if it's public (and especially if you are tagging it with frequently searched tags), you are still exposing others to the content. This is dangerous, even if you don't mean it to be. Think about the thinspo, meanspo, etc. that you yourself see. Do you think the person you saw it from wants others to be sick? No, but you still saw that and it still worsened your mindset.
Many of these posts are full of blatant lies. We are sick, and when we post about our false illusions and share our toxic rules or guidelines or photos, we are only making each other more sick. I understand we need support. So please, reach out to others. Make accounts encouraging pure recovery, even if you're not in it yet. Don't drag other people down with you, reblog your posts on a private blog. Don't use popular tags. DM others who are in similar positions, I'm sure they need someone to talk to as well. Just please, don't tag dangerous or triggering posts with "not pro just using the tag", because just by using that tag, you are indeed, albeit inadvertedly, promoting your illness.
To the person who asked for this (or anyone, really) let me know if this wasn't what you intended or if you have other thoughts. I'm sorry if this makes any of you feel bad, know that you're not bad people, you're just suffering with a terrible illness. It's not too late to help others, be considerate and be careful.

lose the weight
- so you can throw your hair up messily and still look angelic because of your perfectly chiseled jawline and glowing skin
- so you can pull on a sweater thatāll perfectly fit your delicate frame and show off your gleaming collarbones
- so you can sit on your partners lap comfortably and get comments on how small you are
- so when you come to school people stare at your gorgeous figure and wonder how you got so slim
- so when you wear skinny jeans, not only are your thighs miles apart, but your hipbones protrude ever so slightly.
- so you can finally be the it girl. the one people see passing in the halls and wonder how she looks so effortlessly lovely.
- you can definitely put your hair up in a bun and look good, but you'll also notice that your hair is thinning. it's fraying and it's falling and you put it in a bun because you can't really wear it loose anymore without accidentally pulling strands out when you run your hands through it
- you can put on a sweater, but you'll probably need more than just that to keep warm. layers will cover your figure and yet you'll still be cold.
- you can sit comfortably on your partner's lap, but let me tell you, having bones digging into your skin hurts. they most likely won't be comfortable, especially if they see you so frail and weak. they love you, they want you to be okay, not to be skinny.
- if your weight loss is dramatic, people might stare. but just because they're staring doesn't mean they think you're gorgeous. there's going to be rumors, people are going to be watching you during lunch, seeing how you react when you stand up too quickly. now, this is only one way that things can go. sometimes nobody will notice, nobody will comment. healthy people don't obsess over others bodies.
- not everyone will have a thigh gap, everyone has different bone structure and fat distribution, even when skinny. also, jeans suck. they will almost never fit perfectly.
- you are already the it girl/guy to those close to you. they admire you for your kindness, your humor, your smarts, everything that truly makes you who you are. weight does not define you. people in public won't care about you beyond what they see, which is most likely a sick and sad individual. you deserve more than a "oh wow, they're so skinny". you deserve a life with happiness and love. you will get there
They have flagged me so ill just post screenshots cause this is important :/

I really wish this was a thing I saw a few years ago, but Iām glad itās circulation is moving strong. Just like you my wonderful followers <3<3<3 be brave darlings, I believe in you
Take care of yourself, guys. Eating is good for you, your body needs it or it will shut down. If you feel like you need to get healthier or lose weight, thereās tons of ways you can do that, that doesnāt put your body in danger. NEVER STARVE YOURSELF
probably a reblog but thisāš¼āš¼āš¼āš¼āš¼
I hope everyone recovers
Thereās something I want to talk about and Iām going to try to articulate it as well as possible.
Hereās the background of this post: I am not pro eating disorder. Mine formed when I was young, before I even knew it was an eating disorder. I didnāt know until I almost went inpatient.
It took me two years to consider myself fully recovered with some tiny relapses. This is my first huge relapse, where Iāve once again found myself underweight, in a very long time. I never wanted this.
So, being the type of blog I run, sometimes I see posts that are in the tune ofĀ āImagine finally waking up, seeing your hip bones, feeling tiny, wearing cute clothes, and reaching your goalā and otherās that are likeĀ āThe reality is you lose your hair, your motivation, your friends, everything. This isnāt glamorous.ā
I want to offer my perspective. I genuinely believe eating disorders are a mix of both. I think all of those posts are so black and white. Itās eitherĀ āYouāll finally be the fairy you want to be!ā orĀ āThatās false. Youāll be dying.ā
You will be both. One day youāll be who you wanted to be. One day youāll lay in your bed and wonder if you even have the energy to get up.
Being that people with eating disorderās usually think they look better thin, and I am also one of those people, Iāll say it. Iām capable of putting my outfits on and I can admit itās much easier to get dressed. Sometimes, though, hours after thinking an outfit looks great, Iāll look in the mirror and thinkĀ āWait. I actually look fat. Oh my god. Oh my god. Iām so fatā but I can also sometimes acknowledge that yes. My clothes do look better. I do look better. I can make a tee and jeans fashionable in ways I couldnāt before. But I can also decide I canāt hours later.
I can wake up in the morning and feel the bruise on my knees from them hitting together. Iāve got knobby knees. I thinkĀ āIām tiny. This wouldnāt happen if I wasnāt.ā I feel my laptop resting against my hip bones right now. Itās comforting. I stare at my wrist bones as I drive. I like it. I can wake up and feel good. I wake up and feel like a different person.
On the other hand, I can wake up and thinkĀ āGod, I feel so fat today. I must be retaining water, or maybe itās when I overate 2 days ago, maybe it did make me gain weight. Oh my god, my stomach is so bloated. Oh my god, I look the same as I did 30 lbs ago. Oh my god.ā and the entire day is bad. Iāll debate staying in.
Weighing in in the morning effects my entire day on both sides.
Iāve kept my friends. We go out often. When we take pictures and now, I thinkĀ āWow. I might be the skinny friend now.ā but other angles Iāll thinkĀ āIām still fat.ā Going out to eat is a nightmare. That social situation is ruined. But I still try to go and pick at something. Itās ruined certain situations for me but Iām not in my bed depressed 24/7
Boys do look at me differently. But itās a mix of both. One boy didnāt notice me in class until I was skinny, at least as far as I know. Perhaps Iāve convinced myself of that. Another boy is overly concerned for me. I used to think he thought I was cute, but recent things make me think he feels sorry for me. Itās a mix ofĀ āIām skinny and thatās why he likes meā andĀ āIām skinny and he thinks Iām weird.ā
Lastly, once people start commenting, it never feels good. When I started losing again I was offended nobody noticed. Then they did and I regretted ever thinking I was upset nobody seemed to notice becauseĀ āI must look the same then.ā Now itās a constant flow of people telling me to eat, asking whatĀ Iāve eaten. People have seen me and asked when the last time they saw me was, then I watched them mentally count. They mention how quickly Iāve managed to look like a different person. People ask how you did it and you want to die. You shrug it off with stress. Peopleās comments have never made me happy. They make me feel ugly. They make me feel like I look weird. They make me feel like a spectacle. Nobody is going to watch you drop excessive weight in one month and think you did well. Nobody is going to watch you drop excessive weight in one month and think itās admirable, or youāre so pretty and tiny now. Theyāll just be concerned and cautious.Ā
This post is very long and Iām sorry if youāve had to scroll past it and didnāt want to. But I wanted to in depth share my opinions on these posts. Theyāre all so black and white. The ones mentioning the good things get written off as promoting eating disorders. The ones mentioning the bad things are considered the only reality and what should be done. But eating disorders are a weird, sick, mix of both. Iām not even sad. My eating disorder is about control and an obsessive thing. I just wanted to share my opinion and my experience over the past whatās been years of my life now
And one last thing. Itās okay to have an eating disorder thatās not anorexia. Just because itās the most acknowledged doesnāt mean itās what you have.
You wanna know what happens when you're starving?
Your hair gets thin and limp. Noticeably. You donāt have enough nutrients to help it stay healthy.
You get so. Fucking. Cold. All the time. People donāt want to touch you, because youāre so cold. Youāll be shivering under a blanket, in a hot tub, by a fire, wherever you are.
Youāve heard that seeing food will be upsetting? You have no idea. Even if itās nowhere near you, or on a screen, or in the hands of a stranger, youāll resent it because you want it. Some nights youāll start crying because you miss it so much.
Everything will become numbers. You arenāt just walking your dog anymore, youāre counting the minutes and calories youāre burning. You arenāt enjoying a warm day, youāre trying to figure out if the higher temperatures are making your heart rate go up so you burn faster.
Your social life will die. Youāll be skittish and avoid people when they have food in case they offer some. Youāll say no to parties and dates and meet-ups because you think there might be food. Youāll grow paranoid, terrified of people finding out. Youāll start to despise people who love you solely because they want to help.
Youāll hurt. That pang in your chest? Itās probably because youāre not eating. Your stomach? Say goodbye to its silence. Your butt? Itāll hurt whenever you sit down. Youāll get headaches, heart pains, even breathing will eventually become exhausting.
And eventually, youāll die. Maybe you ate more than usual and couldnāt handle the thought of gaining, and exercised so much that your heart overexerted itself. Maybe you actually did gain, and that enough was enough to make you swallow a handful of pills. Maybe your blood pressure lowered to fatal levels, or maybe you passed out and hit your head on a table.
It all ends the same.
Donāt let the āpro anaāsā fool you, this isnāt a glamorous lifestyle. This is a deadly and painful illness.
I feel like a lot of people need to remember that before they skip a their meals.
Donāt do this to yourselves, you gorgeous humans. You deserve to live. You deserve friends. You deserve love.
You deserve to eat.

I stumbled upon the pro ana community of tumblr about 2 years ago. I scrolled through several posts of sweetspo, meanspo, thinspo. At first I was mortified and felt so much sadness for everyone caught up in this disorder. And then I slowly began coming back because I wanted to see more thin people. I was already trying to lose weight- so why not cut down on my intake? The sweetspo said I could do it. The meanspo said I had to do it. Is tumblr what caused my ed? No, but it sure did fuel it. Are there warnings throughout the community now? Yes. But were there enough back then for me to really close this app and never come back? No. So that's what this blog is for. I'm here to reblog posts like the ones that damaged me, and I'm here to break the illusions. We are sick people, but I don't want to stand by and allow ourselves to get worse. I know not everyone in the ana community is like this. But this blog is for the ones that are.
