I heard someone say something a few months ago that has been bothering me ever since. "Marriage should be between a man and a woman because men and women are different. Men act like men, and women act like women." Now I know plenty of men and I've yet to find one exactly the same as me. Why is it that we limit ourselves so much as human beings?
Society has made us all afraid to break the rules of our own gender. Have you ever actually sat there and thought why certain colors are for girls and certain colors are for boys? We've attached these silly labels to things completely on our own for what reason? We have to stop attaching a specific gender to everything in life.
Much of this comes from the insecurities of men I believe. Some men are so protective of their own masculine identity that they're afraid that if they listen to a Britney Spears song their penis will invert and they'll grow a set of boobs. Men perceive themselves as the dominant sex and they are afraid of losing that role.
Women aren't off the hook either. From the day so many girls are born they are taught to be "lady like" by their mothers. What exactly is being "lady like?" It's essentially the idea that women must be proper and pretty. I'm sure the thought of a girl growing up to be a sports star would break the hearts of many mothers.
Of course sexual identity is a big factor as well. I feel as though so much of the hatred that surrounds gays is due to the fact that most don't give a damn about gender roles, which some see as the downfall of society. How could we go on if men are acting like women and women are acting like men?? It's madness! It's insanity! (It's not affecting you at all.)
Fuck the invisible laws that surround you. Be the true you.
