Gengar isn’t Clefable’s shadow. They were just friends as Clefairy and Gastly, so Gastly started to change itself to match Clefairy. Two evolutions later, Gengar looks alot more like their bff Clefable.

Pokémon like Electivire and Luxray are fairly commonly used by staff at large or elaborate concerts. Not only does their intimidating presence let them function well as security (keeping people off the stage and incapacitating troublemakers), but they can also lend their energy to power sound and lighting equipment in the event of power failure.

Daycare

Some kindergarten and daycare services have a Snorlax to let the kids snuggle up and fall asleep more easily. Snorlax also tend to have lots of fun giving a ride to multiple children during recess/playtime.

Due to Porygon and its later evolved forms being quite rare (due to hold items needed for trade evolution being hard to get), bootleggers and piracy groups will often strike deals with villainous teams in order to gain these evolved forms and essentially “clone” them through electronic devices such as computers and 3D printers.

Wild Shaymin have been known to appear at funerals and make flowers bloom out of nowhere in an attempt to comfort the mourners. It is seen as a symbol of hope and moves many people to tears.

Pokemon are allowed in public pools or barred from them on a case-by-case basis. Some of which is dictated by behavior and some of which is just common sense or safety concerns. Johnny’s Cacnea and Pawniard are just in too much danger of accidentally pricking someone or popping all the pool floaties.

Wigglytuff and other pokemon with the ability Frisk are frequently trained and used by police and security staff to stop shoplifters and look out for the people’s safety in malls. Wigglytuff especially are used though because they look cute and outwardly friendly.

Klefki are normally quite mischievous and collect and hide their owners’ keys, but a well trained one can be very helpful in holding all your keys for you and keeping them straight.

Pokemon like Politoed, Froakie and other frog-like pokemon can make a noise that is similar to cat pokemon to confuse predators and humans alike. Humans often end up rescuing these pokemon and become surprised when they see they were not helping a Skitty or a Glameow.

It's possible for a trainerless Pokemon to be independently wealthy (this is canon in at least one manga) and live in anything from human-style mansions and castles to decorated caves or dragon-like pits.

Chatot make excellent, if demanding, pets, because they can articulate their needs and hold simple conversations. They're like having small children around for half a century.

I think about pokemon in non-battle situations a lot. Like pokemon who have been trained/raised to be helpers and assistants than to be battle partners.

Pokemon visiting hospitals to cheer patients up like dogs and cats do. Or ones that help kids learn to read, speak, swim, go through therapy?! Even pokemon who’s abilities help owners with specific disabilities?!

I love thinking of pokemon outside of battle situations.

'Great Detective Pikachu' is one of the most popular and longest-running animated children's TV shows on TV, done in a noir-ish style that features a Pikachu taking on a variety of cases in a world inhabited solely by Pokémon. Celebrity cameo voice actors are common, but the core voice cast hasn't changed much in the two or so decades it's been running. An episode featuring an outlaw Gorebyss was banned from being re-aired, given the public reaction to the non-standard amount of violence.

Dustox and Beautifly gain a rivalry with each other as early as being Wurmple. Wurmple that exhibit more use of poison sting tend to become Dustox in their third stage, while Wurmple that are more passive tend to avoid fighting use string shot to avoid fighting, later to become Beautifly.

Ditto are commonly used by those with disabilities since they can become exactly what they need. Sometimes it’s mimicking a wheelchair, sometimes it’s becoming a psychic Pokemon to help their non-verbal trainer with communication. Ditto are bred for both talent and temperament, making them perfect for any age.

Deer hunting is common in the pokemon world as well, Sawsbuck being the target. The main prey are the Sawsbuck whose antlers haven’t changed seasons yet, as they stick out. Instead of hunting dogs, trainers use Slurpuff (for their excellent sense of smell) and Noctowl (for their excellent eyesight, and if they get lost, the Pokemon can fly and get help.)
