Currently working on turning my 2018 NaNoWriMo Stony fic You've Built Your Walls So High into Vampire D/s mlm original fiction. It was stolen by Romilly King, totally butchered, and then published on Amazon. It's since been taken down after almost a YEAR of back and forth with Amazon. I didn't feel like finishing the fic, but I've since grown some balls and decided to finish it as a one-off original fiction and publish it myself. Every year when we're hit but 30C+ degree heat here in the UK during the Summer (that's 86f+for all you heathens), the world likes to point and laugh at us for being such pussies, but THIS IS NOT NORMAL. 30c+ heat for days on end is NOT NORMAL for the UK and it it terrifying.

I have been on this earth for 45 years now, all of which i have spent in SE England and the change to our Summer heat has been so rapid. I would say that it's only been in the last 6-7 years that 30c+ heat for days on end has become that new norm, and that should absolutely horrify you. It is not normal to have a week of almost 40c heat and sunshine in August. It's not fucking normal for it to be 29c right now at 11:30 in the morning in fucking June. The effects and consquences of climate change are very real and they are very much watching it happen right now in this country.

We used to have 4 very distinct seasons here in the UK, and now we have about 8 months of around 15c with intermittent rain, maybe 2 weeks in January when the Met Office tell us that we're all going to die during snowmaggedon that never ends up happening, and then we have 3 months of heat that for the last 3 or 4 years has exceeded 40c on occasion during the height of Summer.

And I won't go into how this country's housing ind infrastructure is not built to withstand this level of ever expanding heat year after tear. All of our building are built to keep the heat in, not put. Aircon is something that only places like supermarkets, some shops and some venues have.

THIS KIND OF HEAT IS NOT FUCKING NORMAL HERE.

I never thought that i would be witnessing climate change happening in very real time in my lifetime, but it is, it's happening right now, and imo people aren't nearly terrified enough about that fact.

Perhaps I should have phrased my initial post better (my flat had just hit 38c & i needed to rant) - i know that climate change has been effecting other countries for years now (decades if we're being honest) , and of course i've been witnessing it happen in real time in other countries too. I've been alive for closing in on 50 years now, and been paying attention since the late 80s/ early 90s when the hole in the ozone layer was front page news, along with the ever present threat of acid rain. I have a climate scientist in my family so have grown up with constant & ever evolving knowledge of climate change. As a result of that, I've been to protests for the cause, formed sustainability committees at companies i've worked at over the years to help draft new company policies for reducing waste and carbon footprint (one of those companies went on to get an industry award for that - still quite proud of that), been to numerous climate conferences, and have been hounding my local MP since the 90s about it.

Climate change has always been an issue since i've been alive, and especially for countries that the imperial colonist nations of the North have always deemed "underdeveloped" compared to them. And in order to keep the global South that way to better serve them, the global North has continued to exploit who they see as 'lesser nations' in order to get at their natural resources. The imperial North's insatiable thirst and greed for resources like oil, precious metals and fossil fuels are the reason why our planet is so utterly fucked, and why climate change is accelerating at a truly alarming rate.

And we are now well past the point of no return now.

I guess what I meant was that I wasn't expecting the change to be as horrifyingly rapid where I live as it has been these past 5ish years. Is that naivety? Maybe. Ignorance? I'd like to think not considering my track record of climate awareness.

So I sincerely apologise if my ranting post came across as ignorant to the damage that has been happening to other countries for way too long at the hands of the world's capitalist colonisers. It absolutely wasn't my intention to show myself as yet another privileged and clueless yt person from the global North who only cares because it's finally effecting them personally. I care, and i have always cared deeply.

I don't want to worry about someone making a deepfake just because I posted a pic with my friends. I want to read a recipe and know that the photo is a real cake they made. Yes I know I need to touch grass but also I think I should be allowed to interact online without second-guessing whether someone fabricated every image for personal gain

Grenfell Tower fire: 6 dead, more than 50 hospitalized after massive London fire

At least six people are dead after a massive fire broke out in a London apartment building, the BBC reported Wednesday, and more than 70 people have been hospitalized. 

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The massive fire engulfed the Grenfell Tower, a 24-story apartment building in London’s Kensington neighborhood. London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton told reporters that the “size and complexity” of the building made assessing the number of fatalities complicated.

The tragic fire that killed 71 people when the highly-flammable building cladding turned the structure into a death trap.

The news just came out that the firefighters who attended the scene have got cancers from the toxic fumes created by said cladding.
