Democracy: Open Source, Premium, or Freemium?
If the government were software... like open source software... people could modify it but only install it locally, trying it out in a small community before forcing it's adoption elsewhere...
Users, or citizens as they used to call them, they install the set of ethics that they believe in and their G3RM$ enforce the rules around them. You can be a socialist, you get a fixed budget, SocList housing, and eternal, quiet, stability. No taxes... but also no stocks, no rent, but no investing in real estate. Installed by the individual and contractually bound till the next national choosing every four years. On the other hand a Capitalist would install FreeMarkit they can buy and trade anything with absolutely no regulations, but there are no safety nets and fortunes can be one and lost in an instant. The only rules are profit and the sanctity of property. Should you lose it all though you’re going to find yourself working at $laveWage until the next choosing... Every would be Capitalist gets $100k for not jumping ship when it comes time for your new Choose... and even though 98% of re-uppers will still be in the Povurbs less than 3 years from choosing day. Wanna get really bummed? 80% of the idiots will be broke in less than six months... they’ll quietly suffer through degradation... hate every second... and then re-up again for a measly $100k like a true greenback addict.
Health care is a completely agnostic from whatever socio/economic package they sell you on. HMO’s are as simple as installing a plugin. Users are subscribing monthly or annually to a product they want and it plugs right in alongside those with no care and those who are perhaps crippled and unable to take care of themselves... even though the level of treatment they all receive is not equal, it’s still considered perfectly fair and balanced, these three people are all equally human... and when you consider the vast distances humans can rise or fall in their short lifetimes each of their lives is arguably more valuable than the next, and that’s a fact.
