Hello :p My name is Lydia, if you couldn't tell. I'm a contestant in the game Bet and Forgive, and my role is rebellious rockstar. I'm also in a band called Lewd & Laviscious.
My profile picture was made by this picrew, if you decide to check it out.
This blog features some heavy topics, including (but not limited to) religious trauma, abuse, violence, self harm/suicide/struggling with mental health, addiction/drugs (stuff like cigarettes or alcohol), etc. please stay safe.

"Investigations? Interrogations? Analysis? Seriously, do you have any survival instinct? How can you live in this place if you haven't mapped out the building and have a deep understanding of the other contestants?"
"I just go with the flow? I personally don't see the use in analyzing every little thing, because everything could change at a moments notice, and all of that analysis would go down the drain. Same thing with interrogations, for all you know, they're lying."
"Ah, well, it's unlikely. I teach sophomores and have only been teaching for five years. So, unless you graduated early or had to retake a class, you wouldn't have had me."
"Me too. I do remember it being somewhat of an escape from my caretaker though, but past that, I'm not fully sure high school was a fully pleasant experience for most people."
"Ah, well, it's unlikely. I teach sophomores and have only been teaching for five years. So, unless you graduated early or had to retake a class, you wouldn't have had me."
"Oh, I remember! One of my students was on it during class, she told me it was a research website. If that was the case, she was researching something about dead doves..."
"Now I'm just curious as to why they would ban such an innocent website."
Are you feeling alright, dear? You've been looking rather stressed recently..
"I'm functioning, thank you! Being on a, you know, death game can do that to people."
( // jcc spoilers below )
"Seeing Sandbag and Sailor die. Fucked with me, understandably. I know I signed up for this and whatever, I'm just not looking forward to seeing people I care about die."
They made it out. Auggie hadn't gone out of their way to ally with people other than Lydia, and to an extent Bonesโฆ
Both of their allies made it out, so why did they feel so sick? They didn't think any of the contestants would... actually die. Well, they knew that, but!
"Ghโฆ"
Was this the lord's way of punishing them? By making them witness what happened to sinners, to make good again?
"M-Miss Stellaโ" the kid snapped out of it with a bolt, swiftly scanning the area. Where'd she go? They shouldn't get too attached, butโ
"Um, Miss Stella? Lydia?"

// jcc spoilers !!
"I'm over here kiddo," Lydia says, her voice cracking.
{Thats not loud enough. I need to be louder.}
[She stands up, picking her jacket up. She wipes her face dry with her arm and smoothes her voice over, to a degree.]
"I'm over here, kiddo," she repeats. "I know that was scary, I'm safe and alive. You're safe and alive. Bones is safe and alive. I'm here."
She doesn't spot Auggie just yet, but she continues to speak, hoping he'll hear her.
"I know you might be thinking it's your fault. I promise you it isn't. You're not a bad person for surviving. You have no responsibility in other people dying, I promise you."
[Lydia knows why she's saying this. She's saying this because she needs to remind herself of that, too, so Auggie might be thinking something similar.]
As she raised her voice, they caught wind of where she was, quickly rushing over there. They came to a halt before they approached, wiping any sign of tears off their face. They weren't a coward, they weren't!
They quickly moved to get away from the platform that lifted them, and the railingsโmoving to where they heard her voice. Looking down at the height if they fell made them feel sick.
โ I didn't thinkโฆ even if it isn't anyone's fault, s-sailor and the others may have sinned, but no one deserves that, right? I sinned too, do I deserve that? I don't think you do, no wayโ โ
They begun to ramble, but shut up as she stood. Nobody wanted to hear that after what happened.
But, what if this was the last time they ever talked? They didn't even get to say anything to the others before they bit it!
"Nobody here deserves to die like that. I know you don't, I don't, and I promise you that this show isn't how people should be treated. It's torture used for entertainment. Nobody, especially kids, deserve to go through this."
[She pauses, before sitting down again.]
"It's okay to talk about it. If anything, it's healthy to let it out of your system. Like holy shit, that was terrifying, I'd be worried if you didn't seem upset at all.
"It's not bad to be vulnerable. You aren't weak for talking about how you feel and you aren't weak for crying or anything like that.
"I love you, kiddo. You're like my baby brother. I want to be here for you."
[Lydia takes a deep breath. It's unsteady, but not very noticeable.]
"We're okay. Talk to me and let your feelings run it's course."
โ But if we don't deserve that thenโ what? โ
They didn't fall to sit down with her, only staring at her like she'd grown a second head, forgetting anything she had said. With the way he was staring at her, you'd have thought she killed his family.
โ What are you talking about? Baby brother? You kidding? โ
Officially addressing my thoughts on the jcc situation
If anything seems stereotypical, that's because it is almost definitely meant to be. If anything feels forced, that's because it is. The cast was assigned roles- the audience of bet and forgive will want to see them live up to said roles. This is why parts of the characters are going to feel 2d.
And the commentary isn't just on the justice system, imo a large majority of it is commentary on the media and how DESENTIZED people have become to death, how much people JOKE about death, and how much people find ENTERTAINMENT in death. Bet and Forgive literally torture for entertainment. It's commentary on stereotypes you see in the media, it's commentary ABOUT MEDIA.
That's why Cecelia feels flat sometimes. That's why Bones feels stereotypical. That's why Sandbag seems to be a caretaker character instead of his own being. That's why Vick feels shallow.
How Poppy and Elise talk about death is an example of this. The way the questions are phrased in the interview is because of this.
It feels forced because it's MEANT to feel forced.
