Above are common medications available in lotus city
(from left to right, clockwise)
Speed booster: a device that injects a stream of chemicals into the bloodstream. These chemicals temporarily break down lactic acid, provide additional oxygen to the cells, and provide extra adrenaline and electrolytes. The general outcome is a temporary increase in fitness and agility.
Pain booster: a device that injects a stream of chemicals into the bloodstream. These chemicals temporarily repair cells, and supply excess endorphins to the body. The general outcome is a temporary increase in pain tolerance.
Bugaway antibiotics: in three levels of suppression, “high” “extreme” and “unreal”
“Feel-numb” painkillers
System block (known colloquially as S-block): standard medication taken by those who get cybernetic upgrades. Helps with healing, shock, tissue rejection, infection and other problems associated with extensive (an often unsafe) surgery.
Patch-up: patch that goes over the skin. Certified for cuts, scrapes, chemical and thermal burns.
Vita-stock: a large vitamin pill for nutrient poor diets. Can be eaten once a month or split in half for bimonthly consumption.
(from left to right, clockwise)
Diner meal: Lab grown “steak” fried in an herby batter and covered in a thick gravy, with vegetable fried rice and meatballs.
Restaurant meal: cooked shellfish, a baked potato and steamed greens. As over-processed food and overpowering synthetic flavors become commonplace, keeping your food simple and bland becomes a status symbol.
Psamathe meal: the grilled leg of a desert strider (a native animal), rehydrated mashed tater, and slices of canned fruit.
Scrap stew: stew made from a little bit of everything. Hardy, but questionably edible.
Street food 1: various fried meats on a stick.
Street food 2: A fried starch prism served in a cheesy sauce. The notches on the side allow for extra sauce absorption.
“Pictured above is an example of foods commonly available in Lotus City. Most food not taken from restaurants is purchased from vending machines located throughout the city, or from small gardens scattered around the living district.”
(from left to right, clockwise)
Vita-stick: a fruit based, hyper-fortified snack bar/nutritional supplement. Eaten due to the low nutritional value of most cheap foods in Lotus City.
Blammos: painfully crunchy, suspiciously yellow and incredibly salty. Starch based snack/grease and salt delivery system.
CRUNCH: arthropod bits, seasoned, fried and preserved.
SHM (pronounced like simmer) Self Heating Meal: a self heating, steamed meal. This one consists of rehydrated starch, dried vegetables, and a protein slurry.
Lettuce and radishes: lettuce and radishes are some of the fastest growing edible vegetables and can be grown in window gardens or containers. Many people grow their own but some community gardens can be found tucked away in the far off reaches of Lotus City.
Canwich: canned sandwich with starch snacks, for the ultimate all-in-one meal on-the-go.
“Pictured above are drones commercially available in Lotus City. Drones are often used for utility purposes or recreation.”
(from left to right)
Combat: this scorpion shaped assault drone makes for an excellent bodyguard, but its basic AI hinders its effectiveness.
Diagnostic: useful for medical and engineering operations, this floating ball of sensors can provide valuable insight.
Cooler: a popular choice, this drone keeps your beverages cool and can even hand them out at a social gathering of the owner's choice.
“Pictured above is “mister salamander” a factionless mercenary specializing in pyrotechnics and demolitions. His suit is custom built with claw mounted flamethrowers and jet boots giving him extreme mobility and offense.”
“Bertu, known more commonly as clams or bivalves are a sentient species of mollusc-like aliens from a swamp planet. At the top of their shells they’re about 5’4”, but their tentacles extend beyond that. Instead of bones, they possess a shell made from an extremely durable and lightweight material that supports their bodies. Their main method of locomotion is a muscular foot similar to that of a slug or snail, however most individuals are so heavy they are almost immobile and require levitation technology to move about. They are incredibly intelligent and can live for thousands of years.
They are a culture of scientists and engineers, always working on a greater and greater project. They have no concept of monetary value or morality. The only thing that matters to them is continuing their scientific research, and building bigger and better technology.
Much of their older technology was freely given to Gaians shortly after contact, simply because they didn't see the value in it, so much of the weapon and transportation technology present in Rebirth on Eros is derived from theirs. Despite their inhuman appearance and (perceived) lack of emotions or social intelligence, Bertu are capable of attachment and friendship, albeit in a manner others would consider “weird” “detached” or “clinical”.
“Pictured above (from left to right) are a mechanic, a warrior and an archivist of the psamathe species. The Psamathe are one of the many species living in Lotus City. The mechanic is wearing clothes of Gaian origin, while the other two are wearing clothes and armor of psamathe origin. The Psamathe come from the desert world of Ske, and stand anywhere from 6’4” to 6’10” and have strong, muscular bodies, with skin similar to that of an elephant. The Psamathe species first made contact with Gaians 120 years prior to the year Rebirth on Eros takes place. Relations have historically been peaceful, but more militaristic Gaian factions view their predominantly peaceful culture with disdain.”
“Pictured next to the mechanic is a laser pistol, a weapon of psamathe design, albeit a Gaian reproduction. Next to the warrior is a sword made from “Skean obsidian”, an incredibly durable and rare substance. Blades made from it are incredibly valuable and sharp, and the secrets to forging Skean obsidian are a tightly kept secret. Next to the archivist is a datatablet. Functionally similar to a smart tablet, used for accessing and updating records.”

What is Rebirth on Eros?
Rebirth on Eros is an original sci-fi series, set in Lotus City, a floating city on the planet of Eros.
In Lotus City, humans (known as “Gaians” in this setting) and numerous species of aliens and androids live together.
Lotus City initially existed as a mining station, mining gas from the atmosphere of Eros. After the discovery of a powerful substance known colloquially as “Crystal Sunset”, The mining station drew in more and more interest, eventually being built up into a city. Thirty years later, additions were made and the city was rebranded as a luxury resort, a place for people to relax and live large.
Not all is well in Lotus City however, as poverty, organized crime, political corruption and corporate warfare run rampant.
In Lotus City, numerous biological, chemical and cybernetic upgrades are publicly available, granting superhuman and even supernatural abilities to anyone. You can do anything, provided your body, mind and wallet can take it.
This blog will serve as a repository for art and writing related to the series.
