Headcanon/Drabble words: pets
Headcanon/Drabble words: pets
"A forest dweller without any human companions" was not a concrete statement that included being entirely alone. Indeed, before interacting with her partial own kind, interactions had bloomed from the her humble nook. Creatures in natures always buzzed and chirped around - welcoming friends that ushered forth hope. Hope, in that this world had beings and possibilities she'd yet to experience!
Reading about foreign animals in a library that had a majority of animal documents and seeing them on a day-to-day basis (from her window, of course) led her to enjoy their company. After all, the birds with sorrowful songs to sing and butterflies with bedazzling wings didn't hate her, right? They visited her often! She couldn't reach out and keep one, since that was a bit too cruel, but admiring them was enough.
After entering the real "world", Mary's fondness for animals never once faded. A whole new spectrum of critters was to be discovered, loved, and finally played with! There was Seto's hamster to feed and adore already, but, besides that, she'd yet to place a collar and leash on any domesticated friend and call it her own. Perhaps one day... it'd be nice to have a yellow canary, or an ivory rabbit! They were all nice in their own special way, everything on this earth was, and a pure intention of befriending them all dwelled within her.
✿ an accidental encounter { himari } ✿
Upon entering the academy, there was one facility that Mary had eagerly awaited; she desired this single building over the entire establishment with a full heart. The library. It overflowed with comfort, peace, and most importantly -- books! Hardbound, paperback, thin, thick; any and all were bound with word upon word printed and shelved for her viewing. A red string of fate connected her here, since her own personal library at home was nothing compared to this!
At a loss for words, the petite girl entered the structure without her usual skittish self (... mostly). There was so much to learn, so much to read, so much everything - at no price! An over-sized chair nestled in the nonfiction section (more specifically, animals) called to her, she too, called back. Body met chair; the two beings seemed to morph into one as well-read fingers furiously flipped through the stack of novels she had chosen at random.
Peeping over a rather lengthy spiel on mammals in the tundra, crimson eyes met the back of a sheen, glossy auburn head; one of which had a sketchbook in tow. Ah... was she in Drawing as well? The medusa had no way of knowing, simply by mere looks, but daring to interact with a fellow student... oh, the thought was a bit too much! Much to her dismay, the influx of nerve-wracking thoughts caused her hands to slip, the carefully stacked books in her lap tumbled out at once; a not-so-quite noise echoed throughout the area... not again!

Dog: Do you consider yourself to be a loyal person?
Cat: Is it easy for you to trust others?
Fish: To what lengths would you go to help a friend?
Hamster: Do you feel as if you have ever been used by people who you considered friends? Why?
Rabbit: Do you feel as if you are dependent on others, or do you consider yourself independent? Why?

Pig: Do you feel more comfortable with friends or without them? Why?
“School is... a b-bit much for me... the schoolwork part is fun, but..." A shaky, nervous pause in her thoughts. "... how am I to meet others? I need to, but... h-how?"
✿ language arts assignment #1 ✿
Homework... ? Assignments... ? Due dates... ? Since there was a severe lack of any of these in a cramped, lonely abode, the girl had to strive to complete any and all tasks assigned to her! After all, she'd had plenty of time for hoping; the time for working was to begin! Notably, this was her first assignment - it must make an impression on both teachers and fellow classmates. A good one, too!
Ever so carefully, with a practiced (albeit shaky) hand; the girl set to work. Writing in a practiced calligraphy (her handwriting had had years to develop), the swooping loops pirouetting across the page. A bold, yet soothing crispness gave the letters a stark contrast against the pale parchment. A overflowing imagination soon gave birth to an assignment about a modest, yet woefully nostalgic, medusa.
like this post for a starter!!! though... please try not to overwhelm me!

✿ a new beginning; 2.0 { open! } ✿
Academia Mare. Foreign words, yet a tinge of warmth and hospitality poked and prodded her heart when they were uttered. Arriving at a hospitable, yet foreign abode was not a new sensation for the girl. It had happened only once before, ripping the seams open on her closed heart and stitching it back up with everything she'd ever dreamed of. Was this time to be the same? A fleeting thought, woven with hope and cheer, just as all of Mary's thoughts were. ... Most of the time, anyways.
Arriving at a school with little-to-no information and accepted under suspicious circumstances should arouse some form of worry, should it not? It did, indeed, crack open the shell of warmth and allow dread to seep into the unprotected spaces. Mary had never once had a form of public education, at least any above elementary levels. All of her knowledge derived from books - a good source, but they lacked the school atmosphere and human interaction she'd long been deprived of.
With that, the fear of long-lost interaction draped her slight frame in tremors. Yes, she had her group of companions; the Mekakushi Dan were her family, her friends, people she'd die for! Leaving them was abrupt, but with the tone of induction into the academy, there was hope she'd meet them there implanted in her faithful noggin. Besides the group who had tapped onto her cocoon, the butterfly was still metamorphosing, waiting to truly become social.
Underdeveloped with people as a whole, what was she to do? Education was awaited; the medusa valued knowledge to a high degree. Talking to others to accomplish said task? No, no, no way! It would have to be dealt with, even if it wasn't requested. A deep intake of a breath, timid steps were taken as she stood in front of the brazen doors of the academy. One pull, that was it. That was all she had to do! Exhale, don't make eye contact, tug.
Bright light stung crimson optics; Mary was forced to blink rapidly to release the sensation of being temporarily blinded. Before her, an unfamiliar figure greeted her to the academy. A welcoming committee? No matter whom, she had to strive to meeting others! To not freeze up! Or... do it as minimally as possible. That worked too! Strangers had a fifty fifty chance of being welcoming in her experience, but this was a school; a haven for students to learn and interact! It was natural that the people there were... decent... at least, that was what was hoped.
"Ah! H-hello there... my name is Mary... Mary Kozakura." A formal introduction; punctual first impressions was something her mother valued to inform her of. "I'm a new a-arrival... is there somewhere I may check into to get s-settled in...?" Stutter had been tamed marginally, but shaking had not. Ripples of anxiety coursed through her, and her sense of inertia had got up and walked away - leaving her! Breathes came in short pants as the small girl calmed herself, patiently awaiting a reply.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
"Ah! Well…"
Being in a bad mood was like a prehistoric creature for the girl. Extinct, but not unheard of. The moods couldn’t be avoided, and when encountered, it always left a raw, sour feeling behind. “… I like rereading novels I really like! Or… t-talking it out… ? Anything, really, since I don’t particularly like being sad! … Does that a-answer your question?”
