How the heck did the recoms get killed off so quickly? Like, I know Jake and Neytiri are capable fighters (aswell as being main characters). But, the recoms are supposed to be experienced military, bought back to life in 8-10ft tall avatar bodies working under Quaritch who is supposed to be a HUGE threat to Jake and the main cast.

Literally the FIRST time we see these guys in action FOUR of them die. (Fike, Walker, Brown, and Zhang) and then Ja, Lopez, Prager, Zdinarsk, and possibly Mansk were taken out on the boat by Jake and Neytiri (Albeit Ja who was crushed by Payakan, and Mansk who might not even be dead and doesn’t turn up in the third movie)

And then..nobody talks about it after? I understand the recoms only really existed to be killed off by Jake and Neytiri to show how strong they both are, but I wish their deaths had been talked about more. Maybe a small sequence between Lyle and Quaritch mourning these guys who they’ve most likely known for decades. Or maybe their deaths could’ve been used to make the RDA more worried about retaliation from the Na’vi, making them crueler towards them, or make them more desperate to capture and kill Jake.

Or maybe a few should’ve lived on into the third movie, and been more of a threat as none of them care about endangering Na’vi men, women and children, (considering the fact that Mansk was absolutely fine with shooting at Neteyam in the forest scene, or that Lyle quite literally shot and killed Neteyam)

Or they all could’ve been like: “We don’t get payed enough for this shit” and abandon the mission, teaming up with the Na’vi.

damn this really sat in my inbox without me realizing for 3 years. thank you so much for the appreciation. i had a blast with the recoms during the peak of the avatar 2 fandom resurgence. and im happy it brings joy to others too! i still love avatar and the recoms. i might swing back to it at some point but its clear jamcam only wants quaritch to be the postboy recom and hes likely not continuing w them otherwise.

Feel free to shrug these off as my personal headcanons but look at everyone involved here. They look so done and tired with his Jake obsession. Even Lyle looks uncomfortable. They're like "sure buddy okay".
