MAURIZIO CATTELAN âUntitled (Picasso)â 1998 Papier mĂąchĂ© mask, clothes / Masque en papier mĂąchĂ©, vĂȘtements 7.2 feet x 51 ÂŒ inches x 19 Ÿ inches / 32 x 21 x 24 cm Edition of 2 The project for the MOMA, New York, in which an actor masked and costumed as a comic-book version of Pablo Picasso greets visitors entering the Museum, is a cheeky parody in which an icon of high modernism is made to act as an icon of popular culture.

Maarten Baas, Treasure chair, 2005
Material: powdercoated MDF
âWith Treasure, I used my childhood method of building huts and applied it into designing a chair: with a hammer, nails and found boards. When the boards were too long or short, I improvised, resulting in a chair with naĂŻve spontaneity. The first chair was made of various old found boards criss-crossed by coincidence, assembled into one unique chair. Â In order to reproduce the chair, I started using the wood leftovers from a furniture factory. As they continuously produced identical pieces of waste materials, I was able to assemble these pieces into a series of chairs as long as the manufacturer kept going on with its production.â
