Victoria Aveyard answered some RED QUEEN related questions!

These questions were answered by @vaveyard herself during her Orion Books Facebook Live as part of her UK tour. Date: August 29th.

Q: What can we expect in RED QUEEN 4? Will there be more love, betrayal, tears, and murders?

VA: Yes to all of the above. RED QUEEN 4 has a lot going on in it. We’ve got Mare’s point of view, obviously. We’ve still got Evangeline. We’ve got some new ones coming in. And I was just kind of excited to not only keep expanding the world, but sort of tying the ends back together, and hopefully get as many loose ends as I possibly can. It’s been really interesting writing this and realizing I can’t just say ‘oh, I’ll do that in the next book.’ I’ve gotta to do that in this book.

Q: Can Cal sing? Does he have a good singing voice?

VA: I guess no. He wouldn’t really have an opportunity to practice. It’ll be a waste of his time, I think. He appreciates good music. I think he’s more of a classic rock kind of guy. I don’t think he can sing. That’s too many talents. He can only have so many. It’s not right.

Q: We’ve got a lot of questions about movie casting. Do you have any favourites for Maven, Mare, Evangeline, Cal?

VA: This is a can of worms that I never ever want to open. I’m very happy that I’m not a casting director, and I have no dog in this race. So no favourites. I really love seeing fancasts. It’s really interesting to see how readers picture different characters, especially because it can sometimes be different than the way I picture them. For a little while they exist only in my head, and now they exist in other people’s.

Q: Why must you torture us so? (Lol)

VA: Why must I torture you so? It’s what I was put on earth to do. No, I don’t know. I really enjoy it. But I think this is also my way of passing on my own pain and misery from books that have tortured me. I’m a really big A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, GAME OF THRONES fan. So from those books before I felt anger, rage, and pain. So I just impart one percent of what torture I’ve been through.

and eventually he starts this show called “diners drive-ins and dives”

but its entire purpose is just to find mare

because she’s the only one who can get him to flavortown
