Clenching his fists, he questioned her, the girl in front of his eyes. He didn’t care whether this was a dream or not, he wanted to know.
"Tell me…", he quietly began, "Ayano…"
"Why did you jump down the building?! Huh?! Y-You don’t know how much I suffered, thinking about you every single day of my miserable life ever since that incident happened! How…How much regret overcame me!” The recluse’s tears were pouring down already. “DAMN IT!”
Shintaro took a breather for a few seconds until speaking again. “Just, tell me why…Was it my fault that I left you alone, or…”

The girl's lips quivered at their loss for words. Her hand fiddled with the lose end of her scarf. She didn't mean to leave him behind. She didn't even know this is how he'd react once they seen each other after that incident . Actually, she didn't know they'd even see each other.
"Shintaro..." She quietly muttered. Honestly, she didn't really have anything to say, and she could only muster up an apology.
Ayano bit her lip, only to open it once more to talk.
"I'm... I'm sorry." She paused, and allowed herself a small smile. "I didn't do that for myself. It was for everyone... And... It wasn't my intention to make you go through that... Really..." She held up her hands against her chest, holding onto them tightly.
"It's not your fault." Ayano sighed, hanging her head down.
"I'm sorry, I died."

A quick grin upon realizing that the so-called stranger was not exactly a stranger. How embarrassing that would be… Not that this was any better. Eto… He was supposed to be at home with the others, but the habit to sneak out was still evident. He didn’t like being cooped up in one place for so long, and the holidays brought back a spur of memories that would be better left unsaid. Pssh… But of course, if it was Ayano-nii, he might be a little more at ease. She always had a way with words and magic that seemed to make the entire household lighter. He owed her a lot for everything she did, but of course, he still was selfish. He kept secrets and lied and deceived. The need to smile surpassed any other human instinct and emotions were almost always held back. It was strange, to feel this way even after Christmas… It was a little selfish, too. The Tateyama family worked hard to make the holidays happy. And here he was, sneaking out and moping over some past that he promised to dismiss. Mom…

Please don’t yell at me. Sneaking out was not something to be proud of. But the grin would not go, even if he wanted it to. There really wasn’t a need to lie around Ayano. She had a way of knowing and smiling and cheering him up. It was almost intuitive that deceiving her would be futile. But even so, a smile was a smile. He really was happy to see her, right?
”Hey, are you still doing errands~?”
"No, no, I'm sorry about that." She spoke, and fixed her scarf.
Slowly realizing who the other before her was, she ruffled his hair, running her fingers through blonde strands. The kids were supposed to stay home, but she herself wasn't surprised about this one sneaking out and about. She hated to admit it, but she knew him very well, but it wasn't enough for her to distrust him. After all, she didn't know what he's been through, and besides that, she loved him and the other two very well like real siblings. She also knew he was alone, but she looked around just in case one of their parents was around. Confirming the absence of anyone with Shuuya, she let out a sigh, and smiled gently.
"So, you're alone, I see." A soft smile, she fiddled with the groceries she held in one hand.
"Ah, I've just finished. Why don't we walk home together?"

The scarfed girl walked through the noisy street. It was a busy path, after all, Christmas had just ended yesterday, and so there were still decorations everywhere she passed by. She looked back on the day before- She had spent a grand time with her family, exchanging gifts with them and they had a feast together. A sigh escaped from her lips, and her lips curved into a sweet smile, remembering the trio's faces when they unwrapped gifts was surely a memorable sight. If it was possible, she'd like to remember it forever.
Today, Ayano went out to run some errands, one of them to drop off gifts to relatives, and after that she had to get some groceries. It was a lot of work considering how streets were buzzing with people, making it hard for you to walk through a crowd. For her, it was all worth it, after all she gets to see these wonderful ornaments and her favorite color painting the town. Red was a common sight everywhere she looked, and she couldn't help staring at overwhelming decorations. Some were to simple, and some were too much, but what caught her sight was a tall Christmas tree just outside of a store, and it was filled with red ornaments. Walking, but she couldn't take her eyes off the wonderful sight--
"Ah...!"
"Excuse me..." The girl bounced back a bit upon impact with the stranger. She stared a bit to look at their face well, and she bowed. "I'm very sorry, I wasn't looking at where I was going at all..." Raising her head, she gave a smile to the other before her.
