"Weapons used to defend liberty break and break often!" Soldier replied, placing a rather abused rocket launcher on a table. "She lost its effective range⊠sheâs warped badly, Engie." he said somewhat solemnly, groaning a bit.
âNow, donât go gettinâ in a twist just yet - lemme see what I can do.â He pulled the weapon toward him gingerly, running grease-stained fingers appraisingly over the exterior, then setting about expertly dismantling her, setting each component neatly aside as he went along.Â
âAw, hell.â He muttered after a few moments - the rocket launcherâs railing was indeed warped, and badly. She wouldnât be shooting straight or far for a long time, and that was the honest truth. He knew how much Solly loved this thing, though, and he couldnât stand seeing him in a fit about it. âAlright, listen, Sol - Iâm gonna need tâget some parts brought in tâfix her up proper, but lemme whip yâup somethinâ yâcan use in the meantime. Canât have our Rocket Man without his rockets, now can we?â He flashed a lopsided, reassuring smile, clapping the man companionably on the shoulder. âSheâll be shootinâ straight again in no time, donât you worry.â
"A temporary replacement, huh? I suppose that will have to work. What do you have in mind?"
