Wildflower
Why is it that the love of my life has problems telling people who she loves? Why is it that we live in a society that declares we must announce who it is that we like to fuck or hold at night or if we want that at all? Why is it that our society tells me not to love my best friend because we both have the physical ability to carry a child? Why is it that we live in a society that says it is more intimate for us to caress our partners with our bodies than to commit your life to them? Why is it that we scream at people telling them who they can and cannot love because of our chosen deities and the books we study? Why is it that society tells me I am worth less than my brother because he has a penis? Why is it that my society says you must love someone or you are wrong? Why is it that my society wants me to fit into a box that I do not fit in?
Our society demands we be beaten down if we aren’t ourselves, but only the self we are told to be. If our society is good then I am the wickedness that bubbles underneath.
I will love my Knight regardless of who knows she loves me. I will hold my love tight and try to shield her from the serrated words she is afraid of. I will love her and only her because she is all I need. I will love my best friend regardless of the labels we share. I will never bow down to the lies shouted at me from street corners hidden under messages of conditional love. I refuse to be worthless because I will never be a man. If I am alone I will rejoice in my ability to grow without worry. I am a wildflower, beautiful without restraint.
