yknow what i have time, lets finally discuss the Questions™️ i have about cheong myeong’s upbringing
im making a new post so that this doesnt get lost in the void, but here’s the previous post:
💬 0 🔁 0 ❤️ 16 · i am having many thoughts about my education and research into early childhood development and education in regards to wha
so… first off, i know like 1% of the side story info. An english translation, for free, is something that i have not found, and i cant find any good info on the subject. However the two cents i have on childhood development i feel are important enough to post despite my egregious lack of knowledge on the subject.
i am typing this on my phone, please forgive any typos i miss.
heres what i do know: sometime between ages 4-10, cheong myeong was isolated, probably repeatedly, to the extent of literally locking him in a cave for an undetermined but significant enough period of time, for the sake of “seclusion”.
Ive also heard that he was left with wine instead of water, which, what in the—
that would sure explain the drinking? So would the war, but he started drinking long before that.
Anyways, would anyone like to take a guess on the most important ages for developing an idea of whats socially acceptable behavior?
correct! Ages 4-10.
I dont know THAT much about it, looking into childhood development is/was a hobby of mine is all. Its been a bit since i looked this info up too, but i remember this from when i looked it up: the profile of a child who was isolated in this way bears remarkable similarities to cheong myeong’s own… aggressive… personality.
(i love him but that man is a drill sergeant through and through)
the only thing im not sure about is whether he is neurologically gifted (as in the learning disorder by that name) or just a genius. Im not sure you CAN be one without the other, at least not usually.
see, gifted children (the learning disorder) learn “backwards”. Where others will pick up social skills early in life (ages 4-10) and other pursuits later, gifted children pick up on those other things—academics, the arts, sports—first, and social skills are learned more towards 11+ (i dont know the exact ages, but i know its generally in middle or high school).
so there is a question of… how much does isolation during that time period (but not later in life) affect a gifted child as compared to a non-gifted child?
however my main point is just that his childhood (what i know of it) actually aligns with how his personality turned out and i wonder if that was intentional on Biga’s part?
