Verizon’s Powerful Answers Award Finalist

We are proud to announce that REDBOX has made it to the final round of the Powerful Answers 2015 Award hosted by Verizon! Over 1,400 startups and entrepreneurs from around the world entered the competition and only 36 remain in the finals. In our category, Emergency Response, we compete with another 11 great teams for a total prize pool of $2 million! 

We are humbled to have reached the finals and value the opportunity Verizon has given us.

The idea for REDBOX was born a few months ago when an accident turned into a tragedy due to a technology shortfall in the 911 emergency network. This tragic story lead to a number of reports on the 911 network which revealed the true magnitude of the problem. The 911 legacy network has been frozen in time for the past 30 years. The numbers were staggering, but one statistic from the Federal Communications Commision (FCC) stood out to us; it was surprising and hopeful.  10,000 lives per year could be saved by a one-minute reduction in emergency response times.

This is the challenge we set out for ourselves: turning this statistic into a reality through REDBOX, and if we can save even one life, everything will have been worth it.
