Since the very beginning, Elise has always cared deeply for her body host named Julia, just like every other cell living in her body and taking care of her and working hard every single day in order to keep the body healthy. The red blood cells' main duty in City of Julia, was to carry oxygen from the lungs to the body tissues and carbon dioxide as a waste product, away from the tissues and back to the lungs. It has never been an easy job, and it required a lot of effort and concentration in order to avoid mistakes, but Elise has always menaged to handle everything smoothly. Also, Elise had the support of her other fellow bloodcells which she considers brothers and sisters. The relationship between Elise and the other red bloodcells’s rrelationship was special, they all considered each other family, and the bond between them has never been broken in any way. They always knew their place, they always knew what they had to do, and their mutual feelings of care toward Julia always helped them through the hardest times.
Julia is a simple, average girl with a passion for ballet, a passion that she's always been holding on to through her life. Julia's mother was a baller teacher in one of the many dance school of the town she lived in, and whenever it was time for her to exercise, Julia always sat down and watched her graceful body movements, and attempted to mimic them as best as she could, struggling a little at first but menaging to become an amazing dancer as she grew up into a teenager. Julia's dream was to become as good as her mother in ballet, and just like her mother -- she wanted to become a ballet teacher. Some might say that she is way too attached to her mother if she intends to follow the same path as her, but her love for ballet always kept burning in her heart, and she wanted to keep that for the rest of her life. It made her happy, and that's what truly mattered to her.
Of course, her happiness meant the world to Elise.. and seeing her dance every single day, watching her move so gracefully, and listen to that beautiful classical music every day, made her grow interested to ballet as well. Those rare times Elise took a break from her work, she spent them by dancing along with Julia, and soon menaged to learn more about the art of ballet. And for that moment on.. it's always been that way. Eventually, her love for music and dancing grew, and she shared it with her brothers and sisters as well. It might seem mushy, but ballet is something that made everyone in City Of Julia feel united. The wellbeing of Julia meant the world to everyone, and that's how it was always meant to be.
However, no one was prepared about what was going to happen to Julia when she grew older. Everything has always been perfect, nobody could believe or even fanthom the thought of everything coming to an end. What seemed to be a normal day, just like many others, turned out to be a nightmare for City of Julia. A nightmare which lasted way too long, and that was going to be hard to remember for every one. Julia had an accident which affected her legs' nerves drastically, making her unable to move, walk, run, or.. dance. She was forced in a hospital bed for a whole month, and the doctors weren't sure if her legs were ever going to recover from such a trauma. Unfortunately, they were right. After assisting Julia for the whole time she's been in the hospital, they came to the conclusion that her legs were paralyzed, possibly forever.
Meanwhile, the disastrous and horryfying situation had affected a large amount of cells. Most of them lost their lives during that accident, and all this during a day that seemed so normal to them.. nobody was prepared, everyone was too busy trying to keep the body healthy, but the truth is that nobody could fully control what was going to happen to Julia out there. Elise, along with her brothers, was badly affected. Every single day she thought about the cells who lost their lives, and thought about how Julia's dream of becoming a ballet teacher was snatched away from her in such a cruel way..
Elise was aware that she couldn't have done anything to stop the accident, and that she could never be able to restore Julia's legs. And she hated it, she hated that she couldn't do anything. She hated feeling so useless and so small, she hated watching Julia suffer as she sat down on her wheelchair and simply.. stared into the void. She hated all of it, she hated that vision of sadness.. She was tired of feeling useless. She knew her position as a red blood cell, and she knew what her duty was. But since the very beginning, she always wanted to do more for Julia.. and now was the perfect time to prove there was more in her, it was time to prove she could do anything, and that she wasn't going to just stand there when germs and other possibly lethal creatures appeared to attack the body.
She has made a choice, and that was to become stronger for Julia, protect her no matte r what it took or how many dangers she was going to face. She was aware of not being a part of the immunitary system, but did that stop her? Absolutely not. As time went by, she rolled up her sleeves and worked on her physical form, attending the gym and getting trained by her fellow white blood cells, until she could finally consider herself ready to face any type of germ, virus, whatever.. her spirit was strong, she wasn't going to let anything or anyone stop her from what she had in store for herself, and for Julia.
Elise still struggles with the dark images of that accident swarming her thoughts with negativity, but she couldn't let them take over. It was hard, of course, and the scar of that cursed day was always going to be present in her mind, but she's been weak for way too long. Now she is a new person, she has proved she can do better and be better, and as long as she didn't let the negativity take over her mind, everything was going to be okay.
Despite everything, she is still going to support Julia and her dream of being a dancer.. she might not be able to move her legs, but her passion was not erased, it lived.. and it was stronger than ever.
