            “ – this supposed to be Newmerica, then?” Mack is musing to a male stranger nearest to him; surrounded by a few other people scattered around him. “ – Or… well … from what I understand, GOING to be Newmerica, if all goes right. It looks almost like A FUNDRAISER at my college. Y’know – minus all the drunk idiots –” He looks to the stranger with a hopeful raise of his brows, as if he was hoping that the stranger would at least find amusement in his words. Instead, the man was grunting at him and walking away.       “ – okay, that’s fine. You didn’t seem that charming either–..” he murmured to the stranger’s back, uncaring and unsure if he was heard as his hands were shoved into his jean pockets.

“ I  wouldn’t  take  it  personal “ 

Warren  sidles  up  beside  Mack , leaning  it  towards  his  ear  so  that  she  could  murmur  to  him  without  worry  of  anyone  else  around  them  overhearing  and  becoming  offended -  if  that  was  something  that  even  HAPPENED  anymore . Best  to  be  on  the  safe  side  anyhow . A  gaze  is  cast  around  the  room  and  she  crosses  her  arms  over  her  chest  - chin  dipping  in  towards  her  collarbones . 

“ I  don’t  think  many  of  them  have  a  lot  going  on  - underneath  the  human  exterior . “ 

She  taps  a  finger  against  her  temple , side eyeing  Mack  as  if  she  was  letting  him  in  on  some  kind  of  joke . 

“ The  others  told  you  about  the  new  TALKING  fad  yet? “

    “Roberta.” Murphy presses his lips together. He swears he could stare at her for years and never fully understand her – how strong she is. How weak she becomes around those she loves. How desperately, utterly human she is after all this time. Murphy folds his arms over his chest, swallowing thickly as he glances at the ground.

    “You think we’re strong enough to go on without you? You think I am?” He huffs, rolling his eyes with a soft shake of his head.

    “Thought you knew me better than that.” And he doesn’t know what else to say; if he sounds indignant, maybe it’s because he is. He doesn’t want to come to simple agreements when they end him never being able to see her again. 

    “I can’t watch you die,” he says simply, letting his arms thud to his sides. “I won’t.”

BAM. There  it  was . It  was  always  serious  when  someone  used  her  christian  name . She nods  her  head  - trying  not  to let the  emotions  rushing  over  her  consume  her  whole . She  knew  that  she  was  a  good  enough  leader ,  she’d  got  her  group  this  far  with  a  little  help  and  a  few  casualties . Somehow  though, it  still  managed  to  get  to  her  when  they  told  her  how  much  they  NEEDED  her . Nobody  has  ever  NEEDED  her ... she  just  did  her  job . For  her  that  was  still  what  she  was  doing . 

“ And  what , huh ? “ 

She  laughs  a  little , despite  herself . she  wasn’t  sure  how  he  managed  to  be  amusing  to  her  even  in   the  darkest  of  times -  but  whatever  it  was ,  she  was  grateful  for  it . He  was  like  the  sun - warming  the  world  even  if  it  did  shine  a  little  too  hard  in  your eyes  sometimes . 

“ Are  you  going  to  stand there .. and  honestly  tell  me  that  you’re  NEVER  going  to  get  yourself  into  trouble  again ? “ 

Pause - she  gives  him  a  look  that’s  more than affectionate . 

“ Because I  don’t  THINK  that you can go  one  day  without  nearly  dying on  me . “

@OKtheKO: Ok can we talk about how much I love @JackPlotnick as Estes and @LydiaHearst as Pandora. Had so much fun with this episode and all the characters. But George’s #1 is and will always be Lt. Dante
