I think that is enough questions for now. I would not want to be late for my appointment.
Depending on the results of the procedure, I may be indisposed for an indefinite period of time. Something to keep in mind if I am not online for a few days.
It has been a pleasure so far. Hopefully we may continue in this vein when I return.
// any questions until EVE returns will not be answered by her directly, though the exact format will depend upon the content of the question! in the meantime, I may reblog some of those fun rp games to fill out ooc -ly or with a meta version of EVE. i'm not going to stop paying attention to this blog any time soon! uvu
I have not had an opportunity to experience it for myself, but I recognize its artistic merit and am familiar with its content. It is considered one of the greatest works of speculative fiction in human history.
It is a cautionary tale against going forward with science in the absence of ethical considerations, based loosely on the excavation of an abandoned testing facility from the 1950s. The antagonist Caroline, though in the eyes of some redeemed by the end, is a deterrent to anyone considering the merits of cyborg technology or electrical neural cloning.
Others have argued that the minor antagonist Wheatley may provide an additional lesson in creating deterministic machines which feel physical or emotional pleasure. After all, a hiccup in one's programming could cause someone to viscerally enjoy the act of harming other sentient entities.
But I think humans are the same way. And with robots, those sorts of problems are easy to identify and rectify.
"Ah--!"
"The visor's interface takes a long time to fully integrate with my system. The exchange is nearly an hour for all of its features. During this time the process cannot be interrupted, or a full reboot is required to regain control of sensory drivers."
"Another benefit is a marginal increase in my field of awareness. The absence of that information is jarring, but it is not as if I need it."
"It has served me well in the past for the purposes of collecting environmental information and charting flight patterns, but there are few situations aboard the AXIOM where those functions would prove useful. I was wearing it up until this point primarily for professionalism's sake, and my own familiarity with its presence."
"Also, I have an appointment at the repair ward this evening, and it seemed counter-productive to spend all the time putting it on when they would just want to take it off down there."
My two favorite gifs from Ghost In The Shell.
"I believe that the biological compatibility of humans and sito played a large part in their cooperation with colonization. That, and they also seem to be a fairly generous and hospitable people. When they require so little to survive, I imagine they rarely fight amongst themselves out of necessity."
"As for the planet, I am told it is remarkably similar to Earth before it became irredeemably polluted."
"With a few... surprises, of course."
I love nebulas so much. Gosh, look at them…
Imagine if by some combination of temporal/metaphysical shenanigans your blog was actually being posted into a webserver 800+ years in the past. Wouldn't that be something? :]
It is not impossible. The concept of time travel may be incompatible with humanity’s baseline of scientific knowledge, but if news reports are to be believed, the inhabitants of this system are already experimenting with wormhole technology to see if time travel is possible through them.
Failing solid objects, data is being sent through those vortices as radio and laser signals, and if someone on the other side responded, I suppose it would not be too far a stretch from there to gain access to the interplanetary laser network.
If that were to happen — well, I am unqualified to even take an educated guess on what the effects would be on causality.
But it would certainly be interesting.
actual posts coming later today!
also if it takes a long time for me to answer an ask it's because it is a Really Good Question and I I have to think about it and/or draw a lot for it ok don't think I'm ignoring you honeys I would never
imagine robots snuggling.
imagine robots trying to cuddle with things because they’re mimicking the way humans show affection and they want to express affection too.
imagine robots snuggling humans very gently so as not to crush the fleshy humans body with their metal limbs.
imagine robots snuggling other robots.
imagine robots trying to imitate other human acts of affection like hand holding and lil nose kissies.
