Sinbad and Kouen || Meeting
Looks like the raised tones and verbal fighting soon came to an end. Was Kouen getting tired? Perhaps, perhaps not. It was a 50/50 situation, really. With Kouenās description of dirty hands making a comeback at what Sinbad had just said, he felt his quick defeat. It was like he didnāt even try. Still, this was the exact reason as to why Kouen was to be toyed with carefully.
His frown still remained stern and serious, taking in every syllable from Kouenās god forsaken mouth. He hated to admit it but he was right after all. He didnāt argue back at the man. There was no point in it. Just bickering back and forth will just be a continuous circle of political blabbing and fighting.
Sinbad finally let out a sigh with a moment of closed eyes before regaining his look towards the man.
"As far as matters are concerned I donāt think there is anything further I wish to discuss except for my insecurities. However, I think Iāve already made that clear to you."
"Ah, yes. Your... insecurities."
Sinbad did not trust Kouen as far as he can throw him, that much was certain. And the animosity went both ways, although for the sake of 'peace' they must both set aside their differences and work towards one goal. But factoring in their competitive nature, this task was easier said than done.
"Perhaps you can enlighten me on specific measures that would ease your so-called insecurities?"
The question was yielding, kind almost but Kouen's tone bordered on teasing. It seemed like whatever Sinbad said would fall on deaf ears but then again, Kouen might actually listen and act on whatever he had to say. The situation had gone on yet another standstill, with neither party showing their true intentions. Unless something drastic happened, these two men would stay standing like a pair of hard-headed statues.
Cue the deep rumbling of darkened clouds above, a strange hush falling over their surroundings before the first drops of rain begin pouring down.

tea and happiness
Now things were starting to heat up. Looks like Sinbad cracked the right code and got the little heliohapt to go crying and scrambling to his ādaddyā. Sinbad wore a grin on his face as he replied smugly.
"Well well, look who decided to turn up. I didnāt think youād take a defensive position over a Heliohapt boy."
"That 'Heliohapt boy' happened to save my ailing brother's life. And as such, I am personally indebted to him... at the moment."
Kouen gives Sphintus a quick glance, eyes scanning the young man for any sign of distress. Finding none, he steps forward, pausing only when a few tense inches separate him from violet-haired male's smirking visage.
"If you wished to have a heart-to-heart with me, there was no need to involve anyone else, Sinbad." Kouen teases, smirk small but oh-so dangerously sharp.
A brush with destiny [Kouen & Koumei]
The redhead let out a long yawn as he walked down the corridors, knowing all too well that he should probably be sleeping right about now. Instead however, Koumei had chosen to get to work working on strategies that he took so much pride in, and was even willing to pull yet another all-nighter in finishing this one. To work on it however, the male needed some resources from the study, and he knew exactly where they were before even entering the study⦠That was if Kouen hadnāt touched them.
He had no idea that Kouen was working in his room, he jut knew that he was in there. Most of the materials that he needed was actually in the study, but some of the scrolls were also in Kouenās room, and he knew that he be disturbing him if he entered that room. He frowned as he walked towards it, ready to enter quietly without disturbing his older brother. However, when he heard the otherās voice, Koumei looked down and noticed the brushes that were all over the floor. When did he become such a lazy person?
"ā¦."
He stared at them for a moment before looking at Kouen, wondering if he should pick them up or hurry along and get his resources and leave before Kouen could say anything. He then decided that it would have been best to pick the first one, and let out a small sigh as he spoke again.
"⦠Alright."
Koumei picked up all of the brushes, as he wasnāt sure which one he wanted. He then approached the older male and placed them upon his table, ready to turn around and leave for the main reason that he entered such a dark and gloomy room- not like he could say much though, his room was worse.
"Your hair is a mess."
Although he rarely voiced it out, Kouen was very particular about appearances especially when it came to his siblings and how they present themselves in public. A show of blunt force and callous weapons can only go so far. In the end, it was charisma, an overall sense of being well put-together that remained in the people's minds.
The royal family must be the epitome of grace and class, power and beauty. If they were anything less than perfect, how else could they expect others to respect them? Aesthetics may not win the war but it is necessary to keep the distinction between the powerful and the weak.
Koumei usually ended up getting the brunt of his lectures. Being the second eldest brother meant that Koumei himself would take over all pertaining responsibilities should something befall Kouen and that was the main reason why the red-haired man was particularly tough on him. Still, Koumei was respectable in his own right. Now if only he could translate that respectability into his physical grooming...
Taking a paintbrush from the several handed to him, Kouen lets out a sigh, still obviously bothered by his brother's hasty appearance.
"Must I personally see to it that your hair is properly groomed everyday?"
'Do you really want me to brush your hair and clothe you like you were five years old'Ā came the unspoken continuation.
Sinbad and Kouen || Meeting
This was obviously turning a lot worse than what Sinbad could have hoped for. Though really, it could have been ten times, even thirty times more worse than what it was now. His eyes continued to stare into his prey, his eyebrows creasing dramatically as he looked at Kouen. If this was hate then it was definitely ugly. Or really, was it just rivalry on business terms? Who knows. Kouen and Sinbadās relationship was always tricky to determine.
"I canāt promise a fulfilling future for all of the people but I can prevent from anything dangerous from happening to them. It is a determination I am willing to prove."
He could see that Kouen was just about ready to laugh at Sinbadās actions but the male was certainly desperate to make it clear to Kouen that he wonāt succeed in whatever he wanted. Even if it was Sindria. With his sarcastic tone, Sinbad replied with the same agitated tone as he had previously used.
"Sarcasm or not, Kouen, youāre not going to get your filthy hands over my country. It will fall drastically and I wonāt let you taint my hard work."
"Ah, but whose hands are not filthy after all? Who has no trace of taint, of darkness within themselves? And yet here we are, at the helm of power with a thousand people willing to lay down their lives for our cause."
Kouen's tone was no longer cruel or mocking. It was stern, serious... and slightly sad. He should have foreseen how the conversation could turn into this odd, introspective curve but he did nothing to prevent it. And as such, he was also a victim of the sudden change in atmosphere. He may not know of the trials and tribulations, the sacrifices Sinbad had to make for his beloved Sindria but Kouen knew full well the demands required of their kind. Ambitious, powerful men with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Ambitious, powerful men slowly sinking into the mire of lies and deceit, content to keep their heads held high even as they plunge into hell.
"... You have done a splendid job with Sindria, Sinbad. That much is certain."
His sarcastic mask falling, Kouen's voice is calm, sincere. It was the closest thing to a compliment that he could give the violet-haired man before him. Casting his gaze on the dense green surrounding them, Kouen gives a faint, almost wistful sigh before his gaze returns to its guarded stance.
"If you wish to preserve this peace, then we must begin laying down the foundations of diplomacy. Are there any measures you wish to discuss or are my scholars allowed to take initiative?"Ā

Ā āProbably notā He said simply, though even a the words left his mouth, the Magi slid off the window sill, letting bare feet touch down on marble floor. He could feel the tension in the room between them, and yetā¦Ā He knew he could probably hear belter than anyone the quivering shake in the older manās voice.
Folding his arms behind his head he moved through the dark room, black ruhk swirling up around him with each step as the power heād amassed in the passed months was still a struggle to control.
āBut I gotta say, I missed you. Did you miss me?ā He asked, his smirk on his lips growing as his voice tried to mask that he was geniuine in his declaration that he had missed the older man. As much as he thrived on the power he gained with Hakuryuu, the talks they had just werenātāĀ the sameā¦
āThough I suppose probably not considering all thisā He chuckled, glancing around the room that Kouen now had to call his own. āBut hey, better than the alternative right?ā he offered, his eyes dancing as he slid his thumb across his throat in a macabre way of showing just what that alternative was.
Kouen lets out a sigh - faint, weary - as he casts a glance at his surroundings. Forced to stay within makeshift tenements as the world slowly plunged into chaos, the red-haired man was most definitely not as grounded, not as centered as he used to be. Although it wasn't much of a home, he wanted to be back in the Kou Empire, to witness with his own eyes the devastation and insanity taking over what was once a bastion of absolute power. This dangerous desire lingered in his flesh and bone, battle-worn hands yearning to pull out the vile, poisonous weed taking root in places it shouldn't.
But he must wait.Ā
[wait until the ground is covered in ash, wait until the clouds have turned to smoke]
[wait until nothing is left of the world he yearned to call his own]
At this point, Judal's implied threat held little bite. Rather, it was his 'admittance' at missing Kouen that caught on to the older man.
That slight lilt in his voice, a small twitch at the edge of his crazed smile- the magi may know Kouen better than anyone else but the connection went both ways. And now, he can clearly sense how they inevitably ended up in the same predicament,Ā stuck in more ways than one, waist-deep in tar and quicksand. Neither one willing to back down, to call out for help.
"You seem tired." the red-haired man comments, curious and the least bit cautious.
[[ Before the Storm]] - Closed for redking-rising
It was late. The sun had set over Balbad and the only light came from the flickering glow of candles from the windows of those still awake. Floating lazily on air, the Magi made his way through the darkened streets, doing as best he could to keep himself undetected. He wasnāt there to start trouble, in spite of everything that had happened, he wanted to keep his presence unknown to those who had come here in escape from the Empire.
He was like a dog on a leash once more, but for the first time, it was a collar heād tied Ā himself. He wanted to be with Hakuryuu, he enjoyed the company and the knowledge that he was no longer alone in the dark fall of Depravity⦠But something was eating at him. The one obstacle in their way he wished he wouldnāt have to face.
So instead of waiting for the day to come that heād face it head on, heād left, no words to his destination as he sought out the one man he had always found company with⦠The one man now who he might have to face himself.
Setting into the window sill of one of the illuminated rooms, the Magi could see the Prince, bent over a table as usual, but the frown that filled his features was no longer the one he recognized, it seemed tired⦠Worn out even.
Swinging his legs down into the room the teen coughed, finally letting his presence be known. When red eyes lifted to meet his own he smirked, making no effort to move closer.
"ā¦. Did you miss me?"
Regret.
The word had a rather bitter taste to it and Kouen detested that fact. Long ago, he made a promise to himself that he would never even come close to this feeling and yet... life had its way of getting the best of him. No matter how much he distanced himself, no matter how much power he gathers, they would never be enough to wipe away the bitter regret lingering in his mind.
Those lives that perished in the infamous palace fire, lives that were worth so much more than his own...
And now, him.
Judal.
This young man was the walking embodiment of Kouen's mistakes. What used to be a strange but veritable connection between them had fractured under an unknown pressure. Or perhaps Kouen knew the reason but he chose to ignore it, allowing the hidden animosity to grow until it finally burst forth and destroyed everything in its path. Everything was distorted, skewed out of its ordinary axis and every passing day made it more difficult to distinguish what is right from wrong... if that distinction still existed.
He was conflicted, unfamiliar emotions swirling in his chest and clouding his mind. The burden on his shoulders felt like an actual physical pain and no matter how strong and insurmountable he may appear to everyone, Kouen was still very much human. No matter how much he denied this fact, it will always come to haunt him be it in his sleep or in every waking step he takes.
"You shouldn't be here." he murmurs, his voice wavering ever so slightly even as his eyes remain hard, steadfast.

"Care to provide proof?"
"Fine⦠Iāll let you hear from his mouth" The Heliohapt told the King stubbornly, pulling the small Eye of Ruhk that Kouen had given him upon leaving the Empire, using it to call the man in question.Ā
"Iā¦I need you to come to Sindria. There is trouble. Please?"
"How irksome."
Dimensional magic was no easy thing to do. The simple act of transporting from one place to another required manipulating the tiny rifts of space and time and even the most skilled magoi manipulators can have mishaps when attempting to do so.
A little exercise, that's what it was.
Just a simple exercise in technique. Nothing more, nothing less.
"... I didn't know you picked on children now, Sinbad." Ren Kouen smirks teasingly as he steps out of the transport pentagram, his aura as regal and imposing as ever. Ā Ā
