Aight, time to disect some of V's - Vergil's human side - actions and see what's really underneath that demon.
Kind things he's done:
+Giving Nero pep talks to get over his insecurities for the time being
+Bringing Nico monster parts knowing it'll excite her even though she didn't even ask for him to do that
+Actually keeping an eye on Trish like Dante told him to, waiting for her to wake up and even covering her with a blanket (wherever he got that from), despite being fixated on 'finishing his mission'
+Telling Lady "It's good to see you look so well", showing that he actually still remembers her all the way back from dmc3 and just saying something nice (especially since she hadn't been in the best place when they met back then)
+helping out a woman who's being robbed
+saving a kid and his unconscious mother from demons
+literally admitting to his right and (specifically) wrongs, saying he wants to make up for the things he's done
[Might add more later; feel free to add]
Not-so-kind things he's done (some of which contrast to the kind things):
-lashing out at Dante in fits of anger, even wishing him dead
-not exactly a bad thing but constantly seeing Nero as an object to defeat Urizen, talking about 'using Nero', therefore making it doubtful whether the potential friendship was two-sided
-generally not giving much of a shit when people die; letting it happen when it doesn't concern him
-taunting the innocent child who wants to save his mother in a cruel way (because he sees himself in that child), even tho, again, the kid is entirely innocent
[Might add more later; feel free to add]
What does all of that say (for Vergil)?:
Well, for one, I think, if he accepts his humanity more, Vergil has the potential to actually be somewhat kind and compassionate. Perhaps even build a decent relationship with people like Nero and oh boy maybe even Dante.
However, not even his human side is some unproblematic angel. He's got issues and he definitely does not care much for people that he doesn't know. He doesn't have a heroic complex determined to save anyone and everyone like Dante and especially Nero do. He also tends to lash out if you push the right buttons, which isn't very pretty (get him some therapy please).
Still, I think it's obvious that there is good in him, he just has to accept this, but I think he may be on the right path for that now.
