The tears you had been fighting so hard to hold back finally broke through, trickling down your cheeks. You stood there for a moment as pure, white-hot anger boiled inside you, you were furious with him for making you feel like what you had was special..like it was something real. But mostly, you were mad at yourself—mad that you had allowed yourself to fall completely in love with a man like him.
You sniffled, wiping the wetness from your face with the back of your hand before forcing yourself to look at him.
The next question was simple. It rolled off your tongue with a raw quietness before you even had a chance to register you were speaking. You looked him dead in the eyes and asked, "Why?"
Jiyong stepped forward, instinctively wanting to reach his hand out to comfort you, but he stopped himself just inches away. His hand dropped heavily back to his side.
"This was before everything," he said, "Before this became... what it is now. I—" He let out another sigh, "It meant absolutely nothing, Y/n."
You looked at him, your brows furrowed tightly as your mind raced backward, trying to piece together his timeline. "Wh—when was she over there?" you sniffled
Jiyong hesitated, his eyes darting away for a fraction of a second. He clearly dreading telling you the exact truth, but he knew he couldn't lie.
"The first night you stayed over," he confessed quietly, ''She... she was there earlier that day."
The words hit you like a physical slap, and suddenly, everything clicked into place. The condom box you had noticed that looked like it had been recently opened. His sudden, bizarre panic when you had asked a simple question about where a spare toothbrush was, because his guilty mind had assumed you were trying to leave your things behind. It all made perfect, sickening sense now.
Realizing this, you recoiled from him, stepping back. ''She was there the exact same day I was there?" you breathed, the disgust evident in your voice.
Jiyong didn't deny it. He just let out a defeated sigh in response.
He pulled out a chair for you to sit. Your body, still instinctively responding to his presence despite the hurt, sank into the seat. He moved to pour another glass of water, setting it gently in front of you before pulling out the chair directly across from yours and sitting down.
"Y/n," he pleaded, leaning forward and trying to catch your gaze. "You have to understand, this was before all of this-It was before any of it meant something to me." He swallowed hard as if this was hard for him to admit, ''You mean something to me."
You looked up at him, your vision completely blurry as the tears pooled in your eyes once more. Jiyong blinked, a visible flash of pain crossing his face at the sight of your crying.
"And what if I was already falling for you even then?" you whispered.
Jiyong froze, your confession hanging heavily in the quiet kitchen. The realization that you had already given him your heart while he was still playing careless games completely shattered him.
Jiyong tried once more to reach across the table for your hand, his fingers stretching out in a silent plea for connection. But you pulled your hand back away from him, tucking it close to your body.
You let out a sniffle, your voice barely a thread as you whispered, "Please leave."
This time, Jiyong didn't fight you on it. He didn't try to excuse his actions, and he didn't offer any more hollow explanations. Looking at your slumped shoulders he could finally see that you were completely hurting and desperately needed space.
He slowly stood up from the chair. Before walking away, he leaned over the table, pressing a soft lingering kiss against your temple. You didn't look up as his quiet footsteps descended down the hallway. A moment later, the distinct, heavy click of your front door shutting echoed through the quiet apartment.
That was the exact moment you let the tears spill over. Gently and silently, the heavy dampness rolled down your cheeks as you finally let yourself feel the full weight of the hurt. You sat alone in the quiet kitchen with your hands wrapped around the cold glass of water, letting the heartbreak wash over you in peace.
What you had told Jiyong earlier turned out to be completely true. You spent most of the day curled up in bed, desperately trying to sleep away the heartbreak and the raging headache. Bear stayed right beside you the entire time, her warm fluffy body serving as the perfect comforting pillow.
Unfortunately, neither the physical ache behind your eyes nor the deep sadness in your chest would falter. You tried your absolute best to suppress it as the hours ticked by. You took a long hot shower and you even forced yourself to go for a walk outside despite the bitter, freezing cold. Nothing worked. Nothing made you feel any better.
By the time the evening shadows stretched across your living room, you found yourself sitting on the couch with a second glass of fresh wine in your hand. Unable to carry the heavy weight of this by yourself for another second, you unlocked your phone, pulled up your contacts, and called Nabi.
All that needed to be heard was the ragged, cracking sound of your voice over the receiver for Nabi to drop everything. It didn’t take long at all before she was rushing through your front door.
Now, Na-bi couldn't even bring herself to sit down. She paced back and forth across your living room rug, her hands gesturing wildly in the air, completely unable to contain her disbelief while you sat on the floor with a box of tissues resting at your side.
"What the fuck?" she burst out, her voice echoing off the walls. "I mean, what the fuck! How does he fuck some random girl and then bring another girl over the same day? I mean, what the actual fuck!"
"That is a whole new level of sick," Na-bi continued, shaking her head as her boots clicking sharply against the floor. "He was playing completely reckless with your feelings. To have her there earlier in the day and then look you in the eyes and bring you into that exact same space that night? That's gross''
She marched over to where you sat, pulling a tissue from the box and handing it to you before crouching down to bring herself to your level. "And he had the nerve to act all high and mighty at the office? To bury you in work because you wouldn't sleep with him? I cannot believe him."
You took another slow sip of wine, reaching over blindly to the bottle on the floor to fill your cup right back up to the brim. Sensing how much you needed her, Nabi stopped her angry pacing & sank down onto the floor right next to you, pulling you close so you could lean your head onto her shoulder.
"I'm so sorry, babe. I really, really am," she said as she began rubbing your back in slow, soothing circles.
"I'm just mad at myself for falling for him," you whispered, staring at your glass "But at the same time... he crossed that boundary! He was the one who made the move on me first."
Na-bi squeezed your shoulder tightly, her hand never stopping its soothing motion on your back. "Hey, look at me," she said gently, "Do not be mad at yourself. Not for one single second. You didn't do anything wrong here, Y/n."
She took a deep breath, her eyes full of empathy. "You fell for someone who was showing you a side of himself that felt real, safe, and attentive. He pursued you. He made you feel special because he wanted you around. It is completely natural that you opened your heart to that. You are a human being with real, beautiful feelings, and you shouldn't punish yourself for having a capacity to love."
Na-bi stopped and tucked a stray hair behind your ear, her expression softening even more. "The blame here lands entirely on him. He's the one who chose to be careless. So don't you dare turn his mess into a reason to be angry at yourself, okay? You have every right to be furious at him.'''
You sniffled, leaning back against her shoulder with a smile on your face," I love you so much," you murmured, "I really don't know what I would do without you."
Na-bi squeezed your arm affectionately, resting her cheek against the top of your head. "I love you too, babe. Always. You’re never going to have to figure this out alone."
You stared down at the dark red liquid swirling in your glass, the reality of the upcoming week crashing down on you. "What am I supposed to do?" you whispered into the quiet room, "He's my boss."
Na-bi stopped rubbing your back for a moment, thinking for a moment as she took in the hard reality of your question. Working with an ex was difficult enough, but when that ex held total power over your projects, your hours, and your career path, it was a completely different nightmare. Especially after the way he had flooded your inbox with petty error reports just for denying him the night before.
"I know," Na-bi said softly, "It’s messy, and it’s completely unfair to you. But here is what we are going to do. From now on, you are the most professional, untouchable employee''
She pulled back slightly so she could look you in the eyes, "No more lingering looks in his office. No more nicknames like 'Oppa'. If he sends a mountain of work, you crush it, you log your hours, and you send it back with. You don't give him a single reaction to feed his ego, and you definitely don't let him see you cry."
Na-bi reached over and tapped the edge of your wine glass with her own. "You are going to draw a massive, iron-clad boundary between your job and your heart. If he tries to cross it, we'll talk more. But for now, you go in there & you do your job flawlessly. Can you do that?"
You wiped the wetness from your nose, nodding your head as Nabi's encouragement started to sink in. "I—I can," you said, finding a small spark of determination through the exhaustion.
Na-bi wrapped her arms around you, pulling you into a tight hug "There you go, babe. That’s my girl."
You pulled back slightly, swirling the wine left in your glass. "There's a guy," you sniffled, clearing your throat. "His name is Yunho."
Na-bi’s eyes lit up instantly, "Oh, right! The one you texted me about? The date?"
You nodded, a tiny, complicated smile touching your lips. "He drives Jiyong absolutely crazy &...we're supposed to meet again."
Na-bi didn't hesitate for a single second. "Well, there you go! Drive him crazy, up the wall! Go on the date!"
You let out a soft sigh, the heavy weight of your conscience holding you back. "Well... I think Yunho actually really likes me. I don't want to hurt him."
Na-bi softened, reaching over to squeeze your hand reassuringly. "Babe, worry about one thing at a time. Hey, maybe over time you'll actually grow to like him back? Shit, what's my motto? The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else!"
You burst out laughing, the sudden humor catching you off guard as you playfully slapped her arm. "Na-bi, stop!"
"I'm serious, babe!" Na-bi laughed with you, nudging your shoulder with hers. "Really, just give him a shot. Keep it casual, have some fun, and let someone treat you nicely for a change. You deserve that."
You thought about it, you really thought about all the way into the next day. Every single time a wave of guilt washed over you about leading Yunho on, you forced yourself to remember what Jiyong had done. The more those bitter details burned in your mind, the less guilty you felt about playing along with Yunho for a bit. If Jiyong wanted to play reckless games with your feelings, you were entirely allowed to find comfort, distraction, and a little bit of petty leverage somewhere else.
By Nightfall, you were no longer a weeping mess. You had cleaned the apartment, spent some quiet time with Bear, and completely wrote some entries into your journal that you've sworn to yourself many times you would begin writing in again.
Na-bi insisted on staying the night, her steady presence a comfort as the moon shone brightly across the sky. While she slept soundly in the other room, you sat with your legs crossed on your bed, staring at the bright glow of your laptop screen. A formally drafted resignation letter stared right back at you.
You didn't tell Na-bi about it. You knew she would be completely against the idea, telling you not to let a man dictate your career or push you out of a job you worked hard for. But the more you pictured stepping back onto that office floor, sitting at your desk, and working right beside him, the more it made you physically nauseous.
Before you even began the letter, you pulled out your journal and began writing to clear your thoughts which is exactly how you came to this conclusion in the first place. Putting the words down on paper helped clarify the painful reality of the situation, not only was he intimate with other girls while sleeping with you, but you were the one who had foolishly fallen first.
You let out a sigh and took another sip of your wine. Looking at the situation objectively, you had to admit a hard truth—the two of you had never actually established a name or a label for what was happening. You weren't technically official. And he had said it himself during his desperate explanation: it was before this became real.
The more you analyzed his words, the more you realized that phrase was the closest thing to a real confession of feelings he had ever given you. He was admitting that what you shared had evolved into something real for him, too. Still, the stomach-turning thought that he had been intimate with another woman the exact same day he brought you into his bed made you physically recoil.
Unable to come to a conclusion, you shut your laptop with a loud snap and sat back into bed, staring blankly into your empty wine glass. What am I going to do? you whispered to yourself, the quiet words disappearing into the dark room. You finished off the last drop of wine, set the glass down on your bedside table, and crawled deep under your duvet, letting exhaustion finally put your mind to rest.
By next morning, your day in the office went surprisingly smoothly.
Jiyong was entirely absent from the building, having left early for a string of meetings out of the city. Without his presence lurking you were able to work in peace, breeze through your assignments and respond to emails without the constant reminder.
The only reminders you had of him all day were the unread text messages sitting on your phone. You hadn't opened them. You didn't want to talk to him yet; despite the twisted sort of closure you had reached last night, you were still deeply upset with him.
With your phone faced down on your desk to keep his name out of sight, you printed off a fresh stack of papers, stapling them together to organize the neat pile. You were just lining up the edges when Yunho peeked over the partition, a soft, tentative smile on his lips.
You looked up and offered a polite nod. "Hey, Yunho."
"Hey," he said softly, leaning against the edge of the cubicle wall. "Just stopping by to say hi."
You smiled up at him before continuing to staple the papers, your mind automatically shifting into your usual polite-but-distant office routine. Naturally, you were just about to tell him that you were busy and would catch up with him later.
But right as the words formed in your throat, Nabi’s voice echoed in the back of your head. Drive him crazy, up the wall! Go on the date. Give him a shot.
You stopped mid-movement, setting the stapler down. Forcing yourself out of your shell, you looked back up at Yunho, making your smile a little brighter and your posture a lot more welcoming.
"How are you, Yunho?" you asked genuinely.
Yunho's face lit up instantly. A bright, genuine smile took over his features, and a light pink blush dusted his cheeks. Seeing his reaction, your heart sank just a little bit. It was so completely obvious that he had a massive crush on you, and a tiny pang of guilt hit your stomach because you knew your heart was still tangled up in a completely different mess.
But Yunho didn't push or make things awkward. Instead, he just seemed thrilled that you were taking the time to chat with him. He shifted his weight, trying to find a casual posture against your cubicle wall.
"I'm good! Really good, actually," he said, his tone lifting. "Oh, by the way, did you see the email from HR this morning about the office coffee machines? They’re finally replacing the old espresso maker on the third floor. I think someone finally complained about how loud the milk steamer was''
You couldn't help but laugh lightly at how ordinary and safe the conversation was. "Oh, thank god. It sounded like a kettle about to explode every morning."
"Right?" Yunho grinned, clearly happy he made you laugh. "My parents' restaurant has a commercial one, so I told the floor manager I could look at it, but they told me it's an insurance liability if I touch the wiring. Corporate rules, I guess."
You just gave a polite laugh in return.
As excited as he was to talk to you, the small talk died down really quickly. Within a couple of minutes, the conversation completely fizzled out, leaving an awkward silence between you. It was the complete opposite of your dinner together at the restaurant, where the dialogue had flowed flawlessly without a single fracture.
Yunho looked down nervously, shifting his weight from one foot to the other before clearing his throat. "So, anyways ...there’s a party... tonight. Um, I—well, I was wondering if you want to come with me?"
Your automatic internal response was an immediate no. It was way too soon after everything that happened with Jiyong, and a loud party was the absolute last thing you wanted right now. But once again, Na-bi’s voice echoed sharply back in your mind. Drive him crazy
You let out a quiet sigh, forcing a soft expression onto your face. "Sure, Yunho. That... that sounds fun."
Yunho smiled brightly, looking honestly like he hadn't actually expected you to say yes. "Great! I'll text you the details later tonight, and I'll see you then."
"See you then," you replied, watching him walk away before you finally sat back down at your desk.
The very minute his back disappeared around the corner, you ran a frustrated hand through your hair, the guilt hitting you full force. You couldn't keep pulling him along like this. It wasn't fair to him, especially since he was a genuinely sweet guy who deserved someone whose heart wasn't completely broken. You made a firm mental note to yourself: you would go to the party, keep it completely casual, and then right after it was over, you would honestly tell him that you'd rather just stay friends.
The heavy silence of Jiyong’s dark office lingered through the final hours of the day, a quiet barrier that allowed you to pack up your desk and slide out the lobby doors without a single confrontation. When tomorrow arrived, the routine of emails and data sheets moved at a steady, uninterrupted pace, the lack of any emails particularly today from the top floor giving you a rare, much-needed chance to simply catch up. Especially since Jiyong was still out of town. By the time the clock finally chimed the end of the shift, the winter sun had already dipped below the Seoul skyline, leaving a soft dusk to settle over the city streets.
The transition from work to the warmth of your apartment felt like a physical relief. Although, within an hour of getting home, the quiet atmosphere was completely replaced by Nabi’s bright unfiltered energy. Your bedroom quickly turned into a chaotic sea of style, with silks, velvets, and tailored fabrics draped across the edge of the mattress and spilling over the back of your vanity chair.
"Too formal," she mumbled to herself, tossing a dark wrap dress onto the bed before pulling a sleek, emerald-green silk slip dress from the very back of the rack. She turned around, holding it up against her own frame with a triumphant grin. "Now this... this is a statement.''
You couldn't help but laugh out loud. Standing up from the bed, you walked over to join her by the closet, letting your fingers glide over the smooth cool fabric. You took the emerald dress from Nabi's hands, holding the slippery fabric up against your own frame. Nabi stepped up right behind you, her hands gently lifting the weight of your hair so it draped softly off your shoulders, clearing your neck line.
"See? Come on, you look absolutely gorgeous, babe," she cheered, admiring your frame in the glass.
Staring at your reflection for a long moment, you shift your weight as the silk shimmered under the bedroom lights. You were completely unsure if this was a you type of dress. It was technically Nabi’s dress, a bold piece she had lent you a while ago, but you had never ended up wearing it out for this exact same reason. "I don't know, Nabi.''
Na-bi rolled her eyes, letting go of your hair so it fell back over your shoulders. "Oh, please. It's a classic. It shows off your collarbones perfectly."
"It’s technically your dress" you pointed out, turning sideways to look at the profile. "You lent it to me months ago, and I never ended up wearing it out for this exact same reason. It's just... a lot."
Na-bi caught your hesitant expression in the mirror and crossed her arms. "Is it the color? Because emerald green is literally your shade, Y/n. It makes your skin look amazing."
You turned around to face her, letting the hanger drop slightly. "It's not just the color. I really don't want to come off too... presumptuous.''
"Who cares what people think?" Nabi groaned, though her expression softened with understanding. "You’re supposed to be driving Jiyong crazy through the corporate grapevine, remember? Word travels fast. Someone will definitely text him. Especially since plenty of people from the office are going to that party.''
"Yeah, but I have to actually survive the night in it first," you sighed, looking down at the silk. "And I don't want Yunho to get the wrong idea either. I told you, I want to keep it casual before I let him down easy. This dress does not say 'let's just be friends.'"
Na-bi let out a dramatic sigh, playfully grabbing the hanger from your hands. "Fine, fine. Point taken. No weaponized silk tonight." She turned back to your closet, her fingers sliding across the hangers once more with a focused hum. After a few seconds of rummaging, she pulled out a matching cream tank top and a structured, high-waisted skirt. A brilliant smile broke out on her face as she held the coordinate set up against your frame. "How about this?"
This time, a genuine smile reached your eyes. The soft cream tone was cute, understated, and comfortable, yet the sharp tailoring of the skirt still made it undeniably sexy. It struck the perfect balance. "It's perfect," you breathed, feeling an instant wave of relief wash over your shoulders. "It's actually me."
"It's adorable," Na-bi agreed, tossing it into your hands. "Now go put it on so we can fix your face."
After you changed, you sat at your vanity while Nabi hovered over you, helping you brush a little bit of fresh makeup onto your skin—just enough to enhance your features and hide any lingering exhaustion from the week's tears. When the final layer of lip gloss was applied, Nabi stepped back, admiring her handiwork. She placed both hands on your shoulders, catching your gaze in the mirror.
"You got this, girl," she said, "Go out there, have fun, and forget about Jiyong for a few hours."
You gave her a grateful smile, the lingering anxiety in your chest finally settling.
The bubbly energy of the bedroom slowly wound down into a peaceful stillness after she said her goodbyes, leaving you to finish up alone. Left in the quiet sanctuary of your apartment, you reached for your small purse, sliding your phone into the side pocket while ensuring your canister of pepper spray was nestled securely at the very bottom. Before stepping out for the night, you unwrapped a piece of mint chewing gum & into your mouth, letting the refreshing flavor cut through the dryness of your throat. You took one last look at your reflection, grabbed your keys, and shut the front door behind you.
The taxi ride was quiet which is exactly what you needed before the party. Now, stepping out onto the pavement outside the venue, the cool night air brushed against your face as the sharp click of your heels echoed against the concrete. Even before you opened the club doors, the loud music was already vibrating intensely through the floor, sending a rhythmic pulse straight through the soles of your shoes.
The moment you stepped inside, you were instantly met with a wall of people. The club was packed, and vibrant streaks of colored light flashed across the ceiling illuminating the sea of moving bodies. Pausing for a brief second to compose yourself, you pulled down the edge of your cream skirt before stepping fully into the crowded room.
Navigating your way through the first thick wave of people, you pulled your phone out of your purse. The screen lit up with several unread text messages from Jiyong, but you bypassed them completely & hit the call button for Yunho.
He answered almost immediately, his voice shouting to be heard over the roaring bass. "Y/n! Hey, did you get here?"
"Yes, I did!" you yelled back, pressing a hand over your free ear to block out the noise. "I'm walking past..." You paused, looking around the flashing room for a recognizable landmark. "I'm walking past the bar!"
"Okay, yeah! Keep going that way!" Yunho yelled back through the receiver. "I'm in the back!"
Following his instructions, you kept weaving your way through the crowd, heading deeper into the venue until the space opened up slightly and finally spotted him sitting at a spacious booth. Yunho’s eyes caught yours, and he immediately yelled, "You see me?" while waving his hand high in the air to catch your attention.
You smiled, hanging up the call, and began walking toward his table.
Meanwhile, a whole other world away, the atmosphere was completely different.
Jiyong was in the backseat of his sleek black car on his way back from Busan. The quiet hum of the engine did nothing to calm him, his knee shook nervously up and down as he checked his phone for the fourth time in the last ten minutes. He was desperately expecting you to message him back, but when the screen lit up and he saw that you still hadn't replied, a wave of dark frustration washed over him.
He threw his phone onto the leather seat beside him and let out a low, bitter growl. Leaning his hand against his mouth, he stared blankly out the window at the passing highway lights.
The words you had whispered kept replaying in his mind like a broken record: What if I was already falling for you even then?
He felt so completely stupid. He had possessed something rare, something that was turning into something beautiful, and he had ruined it. Jiyong ran a frustrated hand through his dark hair, shifting his gaze toward the GPS screen on the driver's dashboard. The glowing map showed he was only five minutes away from entering the Seoul city limits. The absolute minute he got back to the city, he was going to find you.
Back inside the roaring pulse of the club, the distance between his panic and your reality felt like miles.
You slid into the booth across from Yunho, the chaotic noise of the crowded dance floor fading into a comfortable background hum as the two of you settled in. A couple of drinks had already been ordered, and you took a steady sip from your glass. You weren't drunk yet—not even close—but the light hum of the alcohol was just enough to take the sharp edge off your day.
Yunho leaned forward over the table, his bright eyes fixed entirely on you as he kept the conversation going. The awkwardness from the cubicle earlier was completely gone, replaced by the easy, natural flow you had shared during your first dinner. You swirled the ice in your glass, listening to him laugh at a joke, trying your absolute best to just stay present and enjoy the simple comfort of talking to someone who treated you with care.
Yunho leaned in a little closer across the table, his bright eyes softening with a look of genuine concern. He swirled his own drink before looking up at you, his tone turning sincere as he asked how your work week had really been going.
"You've seemed a little extra quiet around the department lately," he said gently, trying to read your expression beneath the flashing club lights. "And with the director out of the city all day, just wanted to make sure you weren't buried under too much stress."
You sighed. "It’s just been busy," you lied softly, taking a quick sip of your drink. "A lot of projects stacking up before the end of the month."
Yunho nodded understandingly, completely buying the excuse. "Well, if you ever need any help with the data sheets, you know you can always pass some over to my desk. I don't like seeing you look so worn out."
His kindness made your heart sink with that familiar wave of guilt. He was being so sweet, so completely attentive, while you were sitting here using him as a shield to block out the memory of your boss. You took a deep breath, realizing that using him as a distraction was getting harder the nicer he became.
"Thanks, Yunho. That really means a lot," you said, offering a small, appreciative smile.
"Yeah, of course," Yunho replied easily, leaning his forearms on the table. "You know, it's actually kind of strange. We've known each other around the office for a while now, and yet we've never just gone out for a drink like this." He raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eyes as he took another slow sip of his beverage.
You laughed softly, swirling the ice in your own glass. "Yeah, I guess that’s true. I don't know... I'm not really a social person, I guess?"
"Well, good thing I managed to get you out here twice now, then," he laughed.
Your smile faltered just a little bit at his words. It was a uncomfortable reminder that Yunho truly saw this as a real date, while your mind was still entirely fractured. Realizing you couldn't keep leading him on, you took a breath to clear the air. "Oh, Yunho... about that—"
''No way!'' Yunho suddenly cut you off, his eyes widening as a new song blasted through the club's speakers. "I love this song!" He immediately stood up from the booth and held out his hand toward you, a bright, eager grin on his face. "Y/n, dance with me?"
You recoiled slightly into the cushion, letting out a reluctant nervous laugh. "I—I'm really not much of a dancer, Yunho."
Instead of sitting back down, Yunho grabbed a fresh drink from a passing waitress's tray and gently handed it to you, nudging your shoulder playfully. "Oh, come on. Everyone can dance with a drink in their hand! Just one song?"
You let out another nervous laugh, realizing there was no graceful way out of it. Taking the fresh glass in one hand, you reached out and placed your other hand in his. He beamed, pulling you out of the booth and leading you straight into the thick, flashing chaos of the crowded dance floor.
Across the city, a completely different storm was brewing.
Jiyong’s car finally pulled up to the curb outside your apartment building. The very second the engine dropped to a quiet idle, he threw open the door, stepping out into the cold night air and marching straight up the stairs. Having memorized your door’s PIN code, he punched it in without hesitation, the lock clicking open with a sharp beep.
The moment he stepped past the threshold, a white fluffy cloud came trotting down the hallway toward him. Bear barked happily, her tail wagging furiously as she jumped up against Jiyong's legs in total excitement. He instinctively knelt down, rubbing her soft ears. "Hey, girl," he murmured quietly.
He closed the heavy front door behind him and made his way deeper into the apartment, flipping on the living room lights. The space was completely empty. A growing sense of panic tightening in his throat, he walked down the hall and pushed open your bedroom door, flipping the switch.
You weren't there either. Instead, his eyes fell upon the bed, which was a sprawled-out mess of discarded clothes, hangers, and makeup bags. He raised an eyebrow. He checked your bathroom, finding it empty, before stepping back out into the bedroom.
"Where the fuck are you?" Jiyong whispered to himself, his voice laced with frustration. He flicked the bedroom light back off and walked back into the living room.
Just as he reached the center of the room, the front door lock beeped loudly, unlocking from the outside. The door swung open, and in walked Na-bi. She stepped inside, blindly setting her purse down on the kitchen counter before her eyes caught the tall, imposing figure standing in the middle of the room.
It was the first time she had ever personally met him. She froze for a split second, instinctively bowing her head in a professional greeting. "Oh! Director Kwon... what—what are you doing here?"
Jiyong crossed his arms, his intense gaze locking onto her. "I could ask you the exact same thing."
Nabi recovered her composure quickly, her protective best-friend instincts instantly kicking in. "Well, Y/n is going to be out late tonight, so she asked me to come over and watch Bea—"
"Out late?" Jiyong interrupted, stepping forward. "To where?"
Na-bi let out a sharp, disbelief-filled scoff, crossing her arms to match his posture. "With all due respect, Director, that is absolutely none of your business."
Jiyong took another step closer, his jaw tight as he looked down at her. "Whats your name?.. Na-gi ?''
Na-bi rolled her eyes dramatically. "Na-bi," she corrected sharply, emphasizing the syllables.
"Right, whatever. Na-bi," Jiyong sighed, "Look, you’re her best friend. I get it. I understand you’re just trying to protect her, but..." He let out another ragged sigh, running a hand through his dark hair. "Listen to me. I made a mistake. A stupid mistake. I’m not sure how much she’s actually told you, but I just... I need to talk to her."
Na-bi went quiet, staring at him. For the first time, she was seeing the untouchable, powerful director looking completely vulnerable, his sharp eyes filled with a raw, genuine apology.
"This isn't a game to me," Jiyong continued, his voice dropping to a fierce, desperate whisper. "Do you understand? I... I love her."
Nabi raised her eyebrows, honestly stunned into silence. The sheer weight of his confession caught her completely off guard. She softened slightly, shifting her weight. "Fine. She's—"
Before she could finish her sentence, the loud ringtone of her phone shattered the quiet room. She pulled it out, her brows furrowing when she saw a completely unknown number flashing on the screen. A sudden wave of worry hitting her stomach, she hit answer and pressed it to her ear.
"Hello?" Nabi asked. Immediately, a wall of distorted music blasted through the receiver, drowning out the caller's voice. Nabi's eyes narrowed as she strained to listen. "What? Sorry, it's really hard to hear you over the music. Who is this?" She turned her back to Jiyong, covering her free ear with her hand, trying desperately to understand the frantic voice on the other end. "Yes, that's me. I'm Na-bi... What?? What do you mean? Ugh, where is she right now?!"
Jiyong’s eyes narrowed instantly. He stepped right up behind her, his voice booming with authority. "Who is that? Is it Y/n? What happened?"
Na-bi quickly shushed him, throwing a hand up blindly to block him away while she kept listening to the phone. "Okay... just, ugh, just keep watch of her, okay? Do not leave her alone with him. I—I'll be right there."
She slammed the phone shut and quickly grabbed her purse off the counter.
Jiyong blocked her path to the door, his frame completely commanding the space. "What the hell is going on, Na-bi? Leave her alone with who?"
Na-bi let out a frustrated sigh, realizing she didn't have time to play games. "That was someone at the party who knows her. They said she's had a little too much to drink... I'm worried because she's out with this guy—"
Jiyong’s expression turned utterly lethal. "What guy?"
"Yunho," Na-bi said flatly. "But she's completely vulnerable right now, and I don't want her making a mistake while she's intoxicated. I am going to pick her up right now." She turned toward the front door, throwing a look over her shoulder at him. "You can either come with me or stay here. I don't care either way."
Without saying a single word, Jiyong turned on his heel and followed her straight out the door.
Back at the club, the flashing neon lights and heavy bass completely melted together into a dizzying, colorful haze as the alcohol took total control of your senses while you and Yunho swayed and stumbled together on the packed dance floor, your uninhibited laughter rising above the roaring crowd as his hands loosely held your waist to keep you steady amidst the sea of moving bodies.
"I told you that you could dance!" Yunho shouted directly into your ear, his breath warm against your skin.
You threw your head back, laughing loudly as the ceiling lights spun around in beautiful, blurry circles. "I'm actually terrible, Yunho, you're just being nice!" you yelled back, your voice thick and slurred from the drinks as you blindly wrapped your arms around his neck to stay upright.
"No, you're perfect!" he yelled over the booming bass, his eyes locked entirely on yours with a look of pure adoration that you were far too intoxicated to fully read. "I'm so glad you came out with me tonight, Y/n!"
"Me too!" you cheered carelessly, completely lost in the numb, floating sensation of the alcohol
Yunho got completely lost in the music. He leaned down, pressing his lips against yours. For a split second your eyelashes fluttered, trying to register the sudden contact, but you were far too drunk to fully process it. Slowly, your head tilted back, and you leaned up to kiss him back.
You closed your eyes tight as the crimson and indigo lasers continued to flash wildly behind your eyelids. This kiss felt entirely different. It was cold. It lacked the consuming, familiar heat of Jiyong's touch. But in your numbed state, you didn't care. You kept kissing him back, bringing your hands up to cradle the back of his head. Yunho’s hand slipped up and down the side of your waist, feeling the smooth fabric of your outfit as the kiss deepened right there on the crowded floor.
After a few heavy moments, Yunho pulled away, his breath hitching as he leaned toward your ear. "Maybe we should go somewhere private," he suggested over the roaring bass.
With a dizzy, careless grin, you nodded and let him lead you away by the hand, navigating through the thick waves of bodies toward the quieter sections of the venue.
Out on the city streets, Jiyong and Na-bi were getting closer to the club by the second. Nabi was shifting impatiently in the leather seat, bouncing her knee. "Can't your driver go any faster?!" she snapped, looking out the dark window.
Jiyong kept his intense glare fixed on the road ahead, focused solely on reaching the destination.
"We should have just gotten a taxi," Nabi continued to grumble, her anxiety peaking. But just as the words left her mouth, the vibrant neon lights of the club finally came into view.
Jiyong looked up, his posture stiffening. "Here. Stop!" he commanded.
The driver brought the car to a sudden halt, the tires screeching against the wet pavement. Jiyong and Nabi rushed out into the cold air, heading straight toward the entrance to find you.
The blurry, neon-lit room continued to spin on its axis as you laid there, a heavy weight pressing down on top of you. Yunho was entirely lost in the heat of the moment, leaning over your body to press a trail of feverish, gentle kisses along the sensitive skin of your neck. You let out a dizzy, uninhibited giggle, the intense fogginess in your brain making it impossible to fully register what was happening.
The spinning sensation in your head intensified, making the world feel like it was tilting dangerously. Yunho continued to kiss down your body, his free hand coping your breast inside your shirt. ''You have no idea how long I've wanted you like this," Yunho murmured, though his words were becoming a blur as the alcohol took full effect on both of you.
He lifted his head for a moment, lifting the tank top off your body, leaving you slightly exposed to him. Yunho takes a deep breath in, ''God you're beautiful'' He slurred. Next, his hands went straight to his belt buckle.
Downstairs, the entrance doors had already burst open. Na-bi and Jiyong were standing right in the center of the flashing, roaring belly of the club, their eyes frantically scanning the thick sea of moving bodies. Knowing they were running out of time, Nabi turned to Jiyong and yelled over the deafening bass, "Lets split up to find her'' He gave her a nod as the both of them headed in different directions.
You couldn't recall exactly what happened next. All you knew was that one second Yunho was on top of you, and the very next second, the heavy weight was violent lifted off your body. You blinked rapidly at the sudden blurry shapes moving in front of you, trying your absolute best to get your eyes to focus, but you saw nothing but shifting shadows. Your brows furrowed tightly as your alcohol-soaked brain tried to register what was happening. Even with your ears ringing and damaged from the loud club music, you could hear the distinct sound of angry yelling echoing in the small room.
Confused and disoriented, you blindly reached your hand up into the air and whispered, "Yunho?"
Before you could get an answer, you felt yourself being lifted completely off the surface. Your eyes still wouldn't focus on who this person was, but as they securely carried you out of the room and away from the noise, you could hear two familiar voices talking back and forth. After that, everything went completely blank. Your mind finally gave in, and you figured you must have fallen fast asleep.
Until suddenly, a splash of freezing cold water smashed right onto your face.
Your eyes shot wide open and you gasped loudly at the sudden, shocking coldness, instinctively yelling, "What the fuck!"
You blinked a few times, aggressively wiping the dripping mascara away from your eyes with the back of your hand. As your vision finally began to clear and focus, you saw two figures standing directly in front of you: Na-bi and Jiyong. You blinked, completely confused as you looked around the space. This was your bathroom, and you were sitting on your shower chair, but you still had absolutely no recollection of how you had actually gotten here.
Suddenly, the temperature of the running water turned much warmer, falling nicely against your shivering skin. Jiyong leaned down, gently moving a few stray, wet hairs away from your face.
"It's okay, Jagiya," he murmured softly, his eyes filled with a deep relief. "You're okay."
Behind him, Na-bi paced back and forth across the bathroom floor, looking like a complete nervous mess. "Fuck, fuck... this is all my fault."
Jiyong ignored her pacing, keeping his focus entirely on you as he ran his fingers through your wet hair. Exhausted, you let your head lean back against the warm shower tile, closing your eyes and simply enjoying the soothing feeling of the hot water washing over you.
"If I just wouldn't have told her to go out with him... this wouldn't have happened," Nabi cried out, her voice breaking as she broke down into full tears.
Jiyong finally turned his head to look at her, his voice calm but firm. "N-abi, honestly, you're making it worse right now. Nothing can be done about what already happened. All we can do now is help her sober up."
Nabi stopped in her tracks, her face streaked with tears as she gestured wildly. "But—but she—"
Jiyong stood up from his spot by the shower, walking over and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I know," he said quietly, "I know what could have happened. But she's safe now. Trust me with her. You should go home, it's incredibly late."
Na-bi sniffled loudly, checking the glowing screen of her Apple Watch. She ran a hand through her hair, trying to calm her breathing, before looking up at him. "Ok. Ok, just... text me the second she wakes up tomorrow, okay? Promise me?"
Jiyong nodded his head. "I promise."
Na-bi walked over to the shower chair, leaning down to press a soft kiss against your wet forehead. "I'm so sorry, babe," she whispered gently into your ear, before turning around and quietly walking out of the bathroom.
Jiyong sat by your side again, his fingers moving in slow, soothing tracks through your wet hair. You couldn't tell exactly how long the two of you stayed in the warmth of the bathroom, but in your heavy, drunken state, the minutes felt like a long, peaceful blur. With practiced gentleness, Jiyong washed the lingering club smoke from your hair, carefully wiped the smeared makeup from your skin, and eventually wrapped you tightly in a thick, plush towel.
He leaned down and scooped you up bridal style, lifting you effortlessly from the shower chair. The moment your feet left the ground, your arms instinctively locked around his neck, your head lulling against his shoulder as you immediately recognized the smell of his cologne.
"Mmm... Jiyong? Is that you?" you mumbled, your voice muffled against the warm skin of his neck.
A visible shiver ran straight up his arms as you said his name with such pure, unfiltered comfort. Jiyong carried you down the short hallway and placed you gently onto your mattress, pulling the thick duvet all the way up to your chin to keep out the chill.
He crouched down by your bedside, his face just inches from yours in the dim light. He pressed a soft kiss against your forehead. "It's always me, Jagiya," he whispered, his voice thick with an emotion he had been fighting all night. "Get some sleep. I'll be right out in the living room if you need anything."
You let out a soft exhausted groan in return, your eyelids fluttering shut. Jiyong slowly stood up, stepping back to flip off the bedroom light. But just as his silhouette reached the doorway and he was about to walk out, your voice whispered into the sudden dark.
"Jiyong?"
He paused, instantly turning back toward the sound of your voice.
"Lay with me..." you whispered again, the quiet plea cutting straight through the shadows.
A soft, genuine smile broke out on Jiyong's face. He walked back over to your side of the bed, kicking off his shoes before sliding beneath the heavy sheets beside you. The second his arms opened, you instantly crawled across the mattress, cuddling your face deep into his chest. He wrapped his arms tightly around you, locking you against his frame as if he would never let you go.
Just before the heavy veil of sleep completely pulled you under, you pressed closer to his warmth and whispered one final truth into the dark. "Please... don't ever leave me."

You watched from the sofa as Jiyong tied and untied and tied his tie. His hands fidgeted as he looked into the mirror with a determined focus. His eyes flicked to you briefly and he smirked at your expression.
“You’ve got that look, Jagi.”
“What look?” He turned around still playing with the tie and you let out a sigh, walking over to him.
“You know, the look.” You tighten the tie with a smirk, your face inches from his.
“The one where I want to take full advantage of you? Yeah, that’s just my face, Ji.” You leaned in, placing a small kiss to his cheek. “Nice tie, definitely wouldn’t mind being tied up later.” He stared at you, mouth open in disbelief.
“The president is out there!” He stuttered, going back to the mirror.
“Oh I know. Seem to remember him being out there a couple other times too.” Jiyong’s eyes snapped up to look at you through the mirror, wide eyed.
“Jagiya, please.”
“Have it your way. I’m off to find my seat.” You leaned in with a small smirk, placing a perfect lip mark on his neck, just above his shirt.
The door clicked shut behind you and Jiyong relaxed as he sat down, going over his notes for his speech. His phone dinged and he put his cards down to look at the message.
Can’t wait to run my hands through your hair later, Oppa.
Followed by a meme saying: I want to sit on your lap and feel you get hard underneath me.
Jagi.
Jiyong.
The president is out there.
I’m aware, I’m looking at the back of his head right now. Not nearly as cute as you.
Why do you always do this when he’s here?
Because you always look so hot when in his company? Like you’re trying to court him.
Do I not look hot all the time? And I’m not trying to court him.
Eh. 7 or 8 most days. Solid 10 for the president though.
You’re going to pay for that comment.
Oh I’m counting on it.
You smile to yourself as you put your phone away, the lights fading down and you sit back in your seat. Jiyong takes the stage, his hair freshly colored in a brown shade, an attempt to hide the yellow underneath and you can’t help the way your breath catches in your throat. He always looks good, but there’s something about the way he walks out that has you coming undone. You spot it then, the way he smirks at you before addressing the crowd and your thighs rub together as your eyes lock on his for the briefest second.
The way Jiyong could command any crowd, whether it was a group of fans or a bunch of very powerful people has always been extremely attractive to you. You’d started off as his manager, your relationship growing and changing over the many years you’d been by his side. Watching him comeback like he’d never left, and dominating the world? It was everything. So yeah, you liked to have your fun and congratulate him in your own ways. And despite the way you’d been teasing him before he went on stage, you were actually trying to wait until you got home to have your real fun with him.
You were waiting for him backstage when the event was over, sitting against the couch cushions with a wide smile on your face. He gave you a warning glance as the team followed him inside and you sat up straight.
“You did great, Ji.” You smiled as you stood to greet him.
He pulled you in for a hug. One that was a beat too long to be professional and you closed your eyes, breathing in his scent before pulling back.
“The car leaves in an hour for the station. I’ll see you then.” You smiled, nodded to the rest of his team before leaning back in. “Don’t forget what I said about that tie.” You whispered against his ear, leaning back to look him in the eye before leaving the room.
This was not how you’d envisioned this night going, but Jiyong had been out of the spotlight since Coachella and you knew how these things went. Photos needed to be taken, he needed to make his rounds. You could still properly congratulate him once you were back in Seoul.
You slid into the car, pulled out your phone and started checking into what everyone was saying. You were on your second rewatch of his opening comments when the door opened. You looked up as Jiyong slid in, jacket undone, tie untied and your jaw dropped.
“You still have fifty minutes before we have to leave.”
“Yeah, I tried a dessert and then decided I’d rather have my real dessert now.” He leaned in closer, the door closing behind him a devilish grin on his face. “I believe you said something about being tied up.”
“Here?” Your breath hitched as he removed the tie from his, his eyes never leaning yours.
“If you think I’m waiting until we’re home to tame you, you’re mistaken.”
He moves over you in one swift movement, capturing your wrists with one hand, he ties the tie around them carefully, before attaching them to the back of the headrest. A smirk playing on his lips as he sheds off his jacket, his lips never leaving yours.
“Tame me? I’m hardly in need of being tamed.”
“The texts you sent me just to get a rise out of me say otherwise, Jagi.”
His hand moves to trace the outline of your face, his breath hot on your skin. His hands trail lower, teasing you above the fabric of your dress, his fingers barely touching you as you wither beneath him.
“Ji.” His eyes snapping to yours with a smirk on his lips.
“I think you talked enough earlier, Jagiya. Don’t you?”
He reaches into his jacket pocket, pulling the handkerchief out. Your eyes widen as the realization hits and you He hovers over you, stuffing the fabric into your mouth and tying it behind your neck softly. His eyes never leave yours as he leans in, his lips trailing across your jawline.
“Much better.”
He whispers in your ear, his teeth biting your earlobe gently before his lips move back down your neck, your jaw, towards your throat. You mumble into the fabric and he lets out a low chuckle.
“You’re such a shit, still trying to talk when I have you all tied up? I guess I’ll just have to shut you up then.”
He looks up at you briefly before continuing his assault, his hands reach behind you, unzipping your dress, a strap falling off your shoulder. His lips mark every inch of your skin as he slides the dress off you slowly.
His hand traced the edge of your panties before sliding them off, in one swift movement. He lowered himself, his eyes on yours, his breath hot against your skin and you wiggled against the tie.
“I have an hour Jagi, we do this my way.” He smirked before his finger slid through your folds. You arch against his touch and he smirks, lowering your hips back down.
“What’s the rush? We have an hour.”
He removes his finger, popping into his mouth, licking the taste of you off his finger. He lets out a low growl, his eyes meeting yours.
“You always taste so good, Jagi.” He breathes before his head lowers, between your thighs.
His tongue licks a strip from your folds to your clit, circling it in slow, careful movements like he has all the time in the world. Your cries are muffled by the handkerchief and your hands wrestle against the seatbelt. His eyes meet you through hooded lashes as his tongue moves in an agonizingly slow rhythm against your clit.
He slides a finger into you, stretching you before adding a second, his fingers pumping in and out of you slowly, his tongue circling you lazily and you gasp with each touch. Your head falls back against your arms as the waves of your orgasm wash over you. Your walls pulsing against his fingers.
He groans, his tongue moving quicker, his fingers curling just right, helping you through your first orgasm. You’re still withering beneath him as he begins to move faster. Setting a relentless pace as he works you to a second orgasm and then a third. Your breath catches in your throat as you finally free yourself from the handkerchief.
“Ji please.” You pant and his eyes snap towards you.
“Please, what, Jagi?”
“I need you.” You whisper, your arms pulling at the tie.
He moves, undoing his pants and hovering over you, he unties you gently, the handkerchief falling to your neck. His lips capture yours roughly and you moan at the taste of yourself on his lips, your tongue massaging against his as he sinks into you.
“God, Jagi you’re so tight.” He groans as he moves against you.
Your hands claw at his back, your moans filling the silence of the car with each thrust. It didn’t take long before your fourth orgasm washes over you. He follows after you with one final deep thrust, his release hot inside of you as your hands move to his hair, tangling in the ends as you shake beneath him.
“Fuck. Ji.” You breathe your head falling into his neck.
A knock at the window breaks you both from the spell and Jiyong freezes, his grip on your waist tight as he shifts.
“Yeah?”
“We leave in five.” Jaeho’s voice booms from outside the window.
“We’ll be ready.” Jaeho knocks again, leaving you both alone in the silence of the car.
He groans as his head hits the back of the seat, sliding into his pants. He carefully helps you back into your dress as you sit up against the seat.
The front door opens just as you finish smoothing out your hair and you lean on Jiyong’s shoulder as the car takes off to the station.
“Rest up, Jagi. I’m not finished with you yet.” He whispers in your ear as his arm moves around your shoulder, holding you still with a smirk.
You look up at him with a sly smile, leaning into place a small, sweet kiss to his cheek. “Don’t change when we get on that train. I still haven’t had my fun yet.” You whisper.
He lets out a laugh, leaning against the backseat and pulls you in closer, his lips brushing your hair. “We’ll see who’s in charge when we get home, Jagi.”

Fuck me right, or don't fuck me at all
{Series} Chapter 05
Pairing: Kwon Jiyong X reader Fuck me right,or don't fuck me at all-Masterlist · ─────── ·𖥸·
Your first instinct was to scream, cry, throw his phone straight across the bedroom and confront him.
But you don’t.
Instead, you force the burning anger down your throat, letting it settle like lead in your stomach. You slide his phone back onto the nightstand, exactly where he left it and lie back down, wrapping yourself in the light duvet.
From the bathroom, the sound of the toilet flushing and the sink running cuts through the quiet room. You bite your tongue so hard you taste copper, desperate to keep from breaking down. If he is free to sleep with other women, then you are free to do the exact same thing with other men. The situation reminds you of how furious he got when you merely spoke to Yunho, making your blood boil. The hypocrisy is laughable.
But you don't let it show. By the time the bathroom door opens, your face is a completely smooth, unreadable mask.
You actually manage to smile at Jiyong as he slides back under the sheets. Without a word, he grips your waist, pulling you tightly underneath his weight. His black hair falls forward, brushing softly against your bare skin as he buries his face in your neck.
"Now," he murmurs against your skin, "Where were we?" Jiyong shifted closer, his warmth pressing into your side as his lips found your neck. He breathed you in, his touch familiar and confident.
Instead of leaning into him, you recoiled slightly. The intimacy feeling overwhelming rather than inviting. Lifting a hand, you placed your palm flat against the steady beat of his chest and gently but firmly pushed him back.
"You know what? I’m sort of beat, Ji," you said, "You think we can just go to bed?"
The last thing you wanted to do right now is sleep with him,
Jiyong paused, his movement halting instantly. He raised his head, a single eyebrow arching upward as his eyes searched yours looking for any hint of a joke. In all the time they had spent together, she had never once turned him away. Their physical connection had always felt like a natural part of their routine.
As the silence stretched, the realization settled in that you were entirely serious. Jiyong cleared his throat, the sound a bit rough in the quiet space.
"Um—yeah. For sure," he said. Jiyong sat up fully, clearing his throat again as he quickly adjusted his underwear to mask his visible arousal. The sudden rejection hung heavy in the air, shifting his mood entirely.
"I need a shower," he muttered abruptly.
Without waiting for a reply, he swung his legs out of bed and crossed the dark room. The bathroom door clicked shut behind him, and seconds later, the distinct hiss of the shower filling the pipes echoed through the wall.
A wave of quiet satisfaction washed over you. For the first time, you had held your ground, and it felt genuinely empowering to turn him away like that. A small smile touched your lips as you pulled the heavy duvet up to your shoulders, sinking into the warmth.
You knew exactly why he was taking a shower. It wasn't to wash off the day; it was to relive himself from the tension you had left him with.
It felt like a small victory. For a long time, sex had been something you easily went without, but you knew Jiyong wasn't that type of person. Withholding it was a perfect way to get back at him for now. You refused to cry over him anymore; he simply didn't deserve your tears. Two could play at this game.
The moment the hiss of the water stopped, you quickly rolled over, turning your back to his side of the bed. You closed your eyes and slowed your breathing, pretending to be fast asleep.
Jiyong walked back into the bedroom a few moments later, his breathing snoticeably heavy and out of breath. His black hair was damp, clinging to his forehead, and a single towel hung loosely around his waist. He stood by the edge of the bed for a moment, his eyes tracing the silhouette of your naked body beneath the light blanket. A frustrated sigh escaped his lips. He dropped the towel, pulled his boxers back on, and slid under the sheets next to you.
To your surprise, he reached out, his hand gripping your waist firmly as he pulled you back against his chest, holding you in a tight cuddle. You didn't fall for the sudden affection, instead, the words of the text message you had discovered earlier replayed on a loop in your mind, over and over, until you finally drifted off to sleep.
The next morning was entirely different from the day before. Your alarm actually did its job and woke you up this time. As you stirred to roll over and shut it off, you immediately noticed the emptiness—there was no warm body behind you, and no hands holding you tight.
You sat up, looking at the empty sheets where Jiyong usually slept. Maybe he's making breakfast, you thought to yourself. Rubbing your sleepy eyes, you got out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom to brush away the morning taste from your mouth. Walking back into the bedroom with the toothbrush still clutched between your teeth, you quickly pulled on the first half of your work outfit. Stepping out into the living room, you peeked into the kitchen. No Jiyong.
"Hmm," you mumbled around your toothbrush
You turned to the right, and your eyes landed on Bear, who was still sleeping soundly. The sight instantly brought a genuine smile to your face. After finishing up in the bathroom and getting fully dressed, you walked over to the patio door. The click of the handle made Bear’s ears perk up instantly. She woke right away, her tail starting to wag.
"Wanna go outside, girl?" you asked softly.
Bear ran over, happily jumping up on you before heading out onto the patio. It had started snowing again overnight, leaving the patio floor covered in a thick, white blanket. You watched with a sigh of contentment as Bear made perfect little footprints in the fresh powder. Not wanting to leave her out in the cold for too long, you closed the door behind her and quickly moved to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee, waiting for that rich, familiar aroma to fill your apartment.
Just as you set the mug down, your phone buzzed in your pocket. You pulled it out to see a text from Nabi.
Nabi🦋:Can you take a break from getting fucked for a sec to message your best friend? hahah! how are you babe.
A smile tugged at your lips. Leaning back against the kitchen counter, you typed out a reply.
Y/n:I suppose I can. I'm ok, just making coffee. how are you.
You decided against telling her about Jiyong just yet. You were still processing the heavy reality yourself. So, while waiting for Nabi to text back, you walked over to the pantry, filling Bear's bowl with kibble and refreshing her water. As if she could hear the distinct clatter of food through the glass, Bear was already waiting anxiously by the patio door.
You walked over and opened it to let her in. She was so incredibly excited about her breakfast that she bolted past you before you could grab a towel. "Wait, Bear!—"
It was too late. She trotted happily straight to her bowl, leaving a trail of cute, wet, muddy paw prints all the way from the patio entry to the kitchen. You let out a heavy sigh and locked the door.
"I hate the winter," you mumbled to yourself, grabbing the mop from the utility closet to clean up the wet trail she had left behind.
By the time the last paw print was wiped away, you checked the clock. Panic hit you—there wasn't enough time left to actually sit and drink your coffee. "Great," you muttered under your breath. You unplugged the machine and poured the remaining brew down the sink.
Turning back to Bear, you smiled at her enthusiastic eating. "Eat up, girl. I'll be back later," you said, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
You hurried back to the bedroom to put on the final touches of your outfit, and within minutes, you were out the door. You didn't even stress about the wet mop you left sitting out; your sister was scheduled to stop by any minute, and you could just text her to ring it out and put it away.
When you pushed past the heavy lobby doors and stepped outside, you fully expected Jiyong's private car to be idling at the curb waiting for you. But the street was empty.
A small, knowing smile spread across your face. Oh, so he's mad mad, you thought to yourself.
As much as you had grown used to the luxury of his heated leather seats and a quiet, private ride to work, this absence felt like another major victory in your quiet war. You felt a wave of independence as you raised your hand, hailed a regular cab like a normal civilian, and slid into the backseat. Settling into the ride, you watched the snow dance outside the window, enjoying a genuinely peaceful commute to work.
It wasn’t long before your stomach started growling loudly in the back of the cab. You looked down and held your stomach, feeling a brief wave of embarrassment.
Right, no luxury rides means no breakfast, you thought to yourself. Jiyong's driver usually had a warm pastry or a fresh breakfast paring waiting for you in the console, but today, you were entirely on your own. You sighed, leaning your head against the cold glass of the window and watching the city blur past. Luckily, the ride to work wasn't too far. Only minutes later, the familiar glass facade of your office building came into view.
The moment you stepped out of the elevators, the blast of heated office air welcomed you, thawing out the chill from the street. It felt incredibly nice. Taking a deep breath to center yourself, you walked straight down the hallway toward your desk.
As you got closer, you slowed your pace. Sitting right in the middle of your desk was a pristine, brown paper bag waiting for you, the faint scent of warm pastries and fresh coffee drifting through the paper.
Once you reached your desk, your first instinct was to look over at Jiyongs office, but his blinds were completely shut. That wasn't unusual for him, but today it felt heavy with intention. Just happy to have something to eat, you sat down, logged into your computer, and unpacked the food.
The moment your screen loaded, a crazy list of emails popped up. A bunch of system errors needed to be fixed from a project you had completely finished last week, and on top of that, an influx of brand-new assignments had been dumped into your inbox.
You scoffed, glancing at his dark office again before looking back at the screen. Punishing me for no sex, how mature, you mumbled to yourself, certain he was overloading your schedule out of spite.
You took another bite of the pastry, and just as you began to type a reply to the first email, a familiar face peeked into your cubicle.
"Hey, good morning! I hope that warmed you up," Yunho said. He smiled down at you, motioning toward the brown paper bag.
You looked down at the sandwich, then back up at him in surprise. Did he get this for me? you thought to yourself. "Oh, um, yes! Thank you so much, Yunho, it's delicious," you said, masking your shock.
He bowed his head slightly, his hand reaching up to rub the back of his neck nervously. "Oh, of-of course. Um, it's a sausage egg drop toast. I—I wasn't sure which one you favored."
Well, I definitely don't favor this, you thought to yourself once more. You honestly preferred just the plain egg drop toast without the meat. But you kept your expression sweet.
"Ah, yes, it's delicious, thank you. Just what I needed this morning."
A bright, genuine smile spread across Yunho's face, and a slight blush crept up his cheeks. "Ah, yes, good to hear! Well, have a good rest of your morning."
"You too, Yunho," you smiled. He gave another polite bow before trailing off down the hallway.
You wouldn't know it just yet, but Jiyong was watching that entire interaction.
Luckily, you managed to avoid seeing Jiyong for the entirety of the day. Your main communication with him was strictly over email, which was perfectly fine by you. The hours passed pleasantly whenever you pushed down your growing feelings for him and remind yourself of the text message. Plus, Nabi was a huge help and a welcoming distraction. The two of you had lunch together, and luckily, the topic of Jiyong wasn't brought up even once.
This time, you wanted her to dominate the conversation, and she did—happily telling you about her own work, a new hobby she wanted to try out, and even a guy she had been seeing. It was genuinely nice to just listen and hear about someone else's peaceful, uncomplicated life.
When the workday finally ended, you found yourself as one of the very last people left in the dark office, still catching up on the mountain of work Jiyong had left for you. It was closing in on midnight, and you had already been forced to cancel your after-work plans with Nabi. Your head rested in your hands as you scanned over the data sheets, looking for the system mistake Director Kwon was so adamant you made. But there was absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect, just like you knew it was from the start.
You scoffed under your breath and sent out the last of your digital work, not even bothering to skim over the final page. With a satisfied sigh, you pushed back from your rolling chair, shut down your computer, and gathered your things.
But you wanted to do one more thing before heading home.
You walked over and quietly knocked on Jiyong's office door. After a few seconds, his deep voice boomed from the other side. "Yes."
You let yourself in. There he was, sitting casually on his office couch with his legs spread. One of his arms hung loosely over the back of the sofa, while his other hand held a lowball glass of whiskey. His tie was undone, his top button popped, and he looked completely relaxed despite the late hour.
Holding the printed reports in your hand, you gave a formal bow. "Mr. Kwon, I wanted to hand in my finished reports in person."
You walked over and set them down onto his desk in a neat, orderly pile. Jiyong motioned toward the papers with his whiskey glass, his eyes tracking you. "They are fixed?"
You wanted badly to snap back that they were, even though there was never anything to be fixed in the first place. But instead, you held your tongue and kept your voice professional. "Yes."
Jiyong stood up, the ice cubes clicking sharply against the glass as he moved. He walked over to the desk, flipping through the pages with his fingers for a quick look before leaning back against the edge of the wood, facing you directly. He took another slow sip of his whiskey before speaking. "Good work."
You offered a tight smile, feeling incredibly awkward beneath the heavy weight of his glare. "Thank-you, um- have a good night'' you said,
As you turned to leave, a soft knock came at the door. Yunho stuck his head into the office and bowed slightly. "Ah, sorry Director Kwon, I didn't mean to disturb your conversation, I—I'll wai—"
Jiyong interrupted him smoothly, his tone clipping the end of the sentence. "What is it, Yunho?"
Realizing you were no longer a part of the conversation, you bowed politely to both of them and stepped out into the quiet hallway.
Well, that wasn't too bad, you thought to yourself as you walked away. You were honestly surprised he hadn't mentioned anything about last night, or at least demanded that you come over to his place. But if that was all it took—if denying him sex once was enough to make him act this distant—then you were completely fine with that. It just gave you the definitive, bitter answer of what all of this actually was to him.
As your manicured finger pressed the glowing elevator button, rapid footsteps echoed down the empty hallway, running toward you. You turned around to see Yunho. When he finally reached the elevator bank, he leaned down with his hands on his knees, panting trying to catch his breath.
You laughed lightly at the sight. "Yunho, what are you doing?"
He took a deep breath, straightened up, and looked at you. "Um, well, it's really late, and I'm sure you're hungry," he said, his hand reaching up to rub the back of his neck. "I—I was wondering if you want to get dinner with me?"
This was absolutely not something you were expecting, and under normal circumstances, it wasn't something you wanted either. Yunho was a good friend, nothing more, and you didn't want to lead him on. But just as the polite refusal was about to leave your lips, you caught a movement out of the corner of your eye.
Jiyong was standing at the end of the hallway by his office door. His arms were crossed over his chest, his eyes burning into you as he watched the entire scene unfold.
A daring smile spread across your lips. You turned your full attention back to Yunho, making sure your voice carried just enough in the quiet hallway. "I would love to."
Right before stepping into the elevator, you saw Jiyong spin on his heel. A split second later, the sharp, echoey slam of his office door rattled down the empty hallway.
A wave of deep satisfaction washed over you. Knowing exactly how mad you were making him felt incredible.
You turned back to Yunho, your smile becoming much more genuine this time. Yunho politely bent his elbow and held out his arm for you to take. Without hesitating, you slipped your hand through his arm, leaning into the comfort of his steady presence.
Together, you both stepped fully into the elevator. The metal doors finally slid shut with a soft click, and the carriage began its quiet descent down to the lobby, leaving Jiyong on the top floor far behind.
The restaurant Yunho took you to was a cozy, warm little spot owned by his parents, who seemed like the absolute sweetest couple. The moment you walked in, the chill of the midnight air melted away.
As you sat down at a small corner table, Yunho draped his coat over the back of his chair, rubbing his hands together to warm them up. "Okay, what sounds good?"
You smiled, looking down at the laminated menu. "Honestly, tteokbokki sounds amazing right now."
Yunho’s face lit up with a bright smile. He gently took the menu from your hands. "Alright, one bowl of tteokbokki coming right up!"
You laughed, looking at him in surprise. "Wait, you're cooking?"
"Of course!" he said proudly, adjusting his sleeves. "I help my parents run this place when I can. I was taught all the family recipes."
You smiled up at him, suddenly seeing Yunho in a completely different light. He wasn't just the quiet, nervous guy from the office anymore.
"I'll be right back," he said with a wink before disappearing through the swinging doors into the kitchen.
Left alone at the table, you pulled out your phone. Your fingers hesitated as you unlocked the screen, fully expecting to see a string of furious messages or missed calls from Jiyong. But there was nothing. The screen was completely blank. It felt odd and a little unsettling given how angry he looked, but you tried to shrug it off.
Instead, you opened your chat with Nabi. Even though it was hitting close to 2:00 AM, you hoped she might still be awake.
Y/n: I guess I'm on a date?
You stared at the screen for a few seconds, waiting for the typing bubbles to pop up. When they didn't, you kept writing
Y/n: It's Yunho from the office. He seems pretty sweet.
You sent the message and slid the phone back into your purse, deciding not to send anything else so you wouldn't keep waking her up if she was asleep.
A moment later, the rich spicy aroma of fresh tteokbokki hit your nostrils. You closed your eyes, inhaling the comforting scent as your stomach rumbled again. Curiosity got the better of you. You tried to lean over the table to peek around the corner, but you couldn't see anything.
Smiling to yourself, you quietly slid out of your chair. You sneaked past the front counter and crept up to the swinging kitchen doors, pushing them open just an inch to peek inside. There stood Yunho by the stove, completely focused. The steam swirled around him as he carefully added the finishing touches to your food, looking entirely in his element.
You pushed the door open and stepped fully into the kitchen, the heavy aroma of garlic, gochujang, and sesame oil wrapping around you in the warm space.
Yunho didn't jump or look startled at all. Instead, he simply looked up from the stove as you walked in, his expression instantly softening into a warm, welcoming smile. He adjusted the heat on the burner and tilted the pan slightly so you could get a better look.
"Just in time," he said smoothly, using a pair of tongs to arrange the rice cakes. "I was just plating it up."
"Wow, Yunho. This smells incredible," you said, stepping closer to the counter to look at the simmering pot.
The tteokbokki looked perfect. The rice cakes were thoroughly coated in a thick, glossy, bright red sauce, beautifully mixed with scallions and a boiled egg sliced clean down the middle. He picked up a small container and carefully sprinkled a handful of toasted sesame seeds over the top as the final touch.
"My parents have been using the same base recipe for thirty years," he explained, looking down at the finished plate with a sense of pride before turning his eyes back to you. "I wanted to make sure it tasted exactly right for you. You had a really long, exhausting day."
Hearing him acknowledge how hard you had worked brought a sense of comfort. Standing here in the warmth of his family's kitchen felt completely removed from the cold games Jiyong had been playing all day.
"Well, it looks amazing," you said, reaching for the small side plates to help him carry everything out. "Let's go eat."
The conversation flowed beautifully between the two of you. Neither of you missed a beat, and not once did the dialogue fracture or feel forced. Before you knew it, the entire pot of tteokbokki was completely finished, leaving nothing but scattered empty plates between you two.
Now, the table held a few green bottles and small glasses as you each took shots of soju, the crisp alcohol cutting through the lingering spice of the meal.
As the conversation continued to drift effortlessly from topic to topic, you completely stopped worrying about the time. The ticking clock on the wall didn't matter anymore. You didn't have to go to work tomorrow, which meant the night belonged completely to you. Jiyong, the office the stress he's causing felt miles away as you laughed at another one of Yunho's stories and held out your small glass for him to pour another round.
"So there I -I was, trying to flip the pancake perfectly like my dad always does," Yunho chuckled, gesturing with his hands as he slightly slurred his words. "But instead of landing back in the pan, it sailed straight through the air and-and stuck perfectly to the ceiling. My mom just stared at me for three solid seconds before handing me the broom."
You burst out laughing at the mental image, shaking your head as you lifted your glass. "No way! Did it actually stick?"
"Solidly," he grinned, clinking his glass against yours. "We had to scrape it off with a spatula."
You laughed again as you swallowed the last bit of your crisp soju shot. Just then, a sharp beep echoed from your purse.
"Mmh, one minute," you said, setting the empty glass down and pulling out your phone.
The screen lit up with a message from your sister. She texted to let you know she had left your apartment about an hour ago, but assured you that Bear was fully fed, watered, and had already been let outside for her final bathroom break. A wave of relief washed over you. You smiled warmly at the screen and set the phone face down on the table.
Yunho read your expression immediately, his eyebrows lifting slightly. "Uh oh, gotta go?"
You smiled, stumbling your words almost aa much as he is. "Yeah, my dog needs to be let-let out soon''
"Oh, yeah! The beautiful white one," Yunho said, his eyes lighting up. "Gosh, you're so lucky to have a dog. I'm actually ...al- allergic."
You pouted your face playfully as you stood up from the table and reached for your coat. "Aw, man. I couldn't imagine being allergic to any animal. I love animals so much."
Yunho quickly stood up, stepping around the table to gently take the weight of your jacket, helping you slide your arms into the sleeves. "Well, honestly, it's nothing a good allergy pill can't fix," he said with a warm smile.
You looked up over your shoulder and smiled back. "That's good to know." Looking down at the empty plates, the green bottles, and the scattered mess on the table, you felt a bit guilty. "Oh! Let me help you clean up at least."
Yunho quickly stepped in front of you, waving his hands dismissively. "No, no, don't worry about it at all. Just get home safe, it's incredibly late."
You nodded your head and smiled, accepting his kindness. Yunho walked you toward the front of the restaurant. The little bell above the frame dinged loudly as the door swung open, and the two of you stepped out onto the sidewalk where the cold air hit your face and the snow was falling lightly.
An awkward silence suddenly settled between you. You found yourself smiling faintly and looking down at the snowy floor, not quite sure how to end the night.
Yunho reached up, rubbing the back of his neck in that familiar, nervous gesture. "So, um... I -I had a great time tonight."
"Me too," you said
"I would really like to see... you again," he added, his eyes searching yours.
Your face faltered a bit at his words. The reality of the situation hit you—you didn't want to lead him on too much, especially since it was becoming very clear that he actually, genuinely liked you. But before you could find the right words to gently decline, Yunho spoke up again, saving you from the awkward rejection.
"Here, I can give you my number," he said smoothly. He held out his hand, gesturing for you to hand him your phone.
Feeling slightly bad but unable to say no to his sweet expression, you unlocked your phone and handed it over. Yunho quickly typed in his contact information, saved it, and handed the device back to you with a reassuring smile.
"Don't fuss over it," he said gently, sensing your hesitation. "Just get back to me whenever you can, let me know."
"Thank you," you smiled, genuinely appreciative of how low-pressure he was making it.
The two of you leaned in for a comfortable hug, whispering a final goodnight. Yunho turned and walked back into the warmth of his family's restaurant, the bell dinging behind him, while you turned your collar up against the cold and walked toward the corner of the street to hail a cab.
The night went on peacefully. Once you got home, you stumbled into your apartment, holding onto the doorframe for support as the alcohol buzzed warmly in your system. You laughed out loud as the door swung open, reaching over to flip on the lights, totally oblivious to the person leaning against your kitchen counter.
You walked straight over to the patio door, sliding it open to call Bear over for her final bathroom break. As Bear trotted past you and ran out into the snowy night, you turned around to head toward the kitchen.
There, watching your every move with his signature glass of liquor in his hand, was Jiyong. He was leaning casually against your kitchen counter.
You jumped, thoroughly startled, but then immediately let out a loud laugh, putting your hand over your chest. "Yah! Oppa, you scared me," you sighed, shaking your head as you walked over to him. "What are you doing... here?" you slurred slightly, the words rolling together.
Jiyong just watched you, a single eyebrow raised as he tracked your uneven footsteps. You reached past him to grab a bottle of water from the fridge.
He took a slow sip from his glass and spoke, his deep voice smooth and flat. "You're drunk."
You laughed again, lifting a finger to point directly at his chest. "And youuuuu are handsome," you giggled, your eyes crinkling.
Turning on your heel, you walked back over to the patio door to let Bear back inside. Jiyong moved from the counter, following you carefully across the room as if he was ready to catch you if you tripped.
Once Bear ran back inside, you slid the glass patio door shut and locked it with a quiet click. The moment you turned around, Jiyong was standing right there, his tall frame completely blocking your path. You looked up at him, your head tilting slightly as a smile spread across your face.
He didn't smile back. Instead, he looked down at you, his eyes intense and serious as he evaluated your flushed cheeks and unsteady balance.
"You need to sober up," he said, his deep voice carrying a quiet but firm authority. "Or you're going to wake up miserable tomorrow."
"Oh yeah, mister doctor?" you teased, your voice dripping with playful defiance.
You trailed a slow finger up the crisp fabric of his shirt, moving up his chest in deliberate flirtation. Your gaze locked onto his as you tilted your head back. "A-and what's the antidote?"
Leaning in even closer, you let your head tilt toward his ear, your breath reeking of soju as you whispered, "Your dick?"
The bluntness of your words hit him right away. Jiyong recoiled instantly, his head snapping back as a look of genuine shock flashed across his face.
You just burst out laughing at his reaction, stepping completely away from his personal space. Stumbling back a few steps into the living room, you plopped heavily down onto the soft cushions of the couch. Leaning your head back against the upholstery, you looked over at him with a smug grin.
''Mmm, you know I had a date tonight?" you said, throwing the words out into the quiet room like a weapon.
Jiyong walked over to the couch, his tall frame looming over you as he stood directly in front of where you sat. He looked down at you, his face completely unreadable, but he simply said nothing.
You ran a hand lazily through your hair, looking up at him before continuing. "You know Yunho?" you slurred, nodding your head as if trying to remind him. "Yeah, yeah, him. He's a sweet guy. I had fun."
Jiyong looked visibly irritated now. You watched his jaw tense up, the muscle jumping as he locked his teeth together. Seeing how much it was getting to him, you decided to go even further. You wanted to hurt him the way that text message had hurt you.
Leaning forward on the cushions, you looked Jiyong straight in his eyes, closing the distance between you.
"And his dick?.." You paused, holding his intense glare for a split second before you leaned in just a fraction more. "..even funner," you whispered the last part right to his face.
Jiyong scoffed a dark humorless laugh breaking the heavy silence of the room. The explosive anger faded into a calm dangerous demeanor as he slowly crouched down right in front of the couch. A smirk spread across his face, bringing his eyes completely level with yours. You didn't flinch. You kept his intense gaze, refusing to look away first.
"You wouldn't dare," Jiyong said
In response, your smirk only widened. Leaning back heavily into the soft cushions of the couch, you deliberately shifted your position, spreading your legs just enough where Jiyong could see the hint of black lace of your underwear peeking from beneath your work clothes.
"What?" you mocked, your voice dripping with alcohol and pure defiance. "You think this pussy is only for you?"
Just as you wanted, Jiyong's gaze snapped directly down, his eyes locking onto the space between your legs. The air in the room instantly grew hot and heavy, the tension shifting from anger to something incredibly charged.
You pushed your skirt up even more, letting the fabric bunch around your hips so Jiyong could see exactly what he was missing.
"Awww, no Oppa," you cooed, your voice dripping with sweet, drunken malice. "It’s not."
And then, with a sharp snap, you closed your legs completely shut.
Jiyong’s eyes fluttered up from the sudden emptiness to lock onto yours. The smirk was entirely gone from his face. He shifted slightly, visibly trying to adjust the obvious, heavy arousal stretching against the fabric of his trousers. For a long moment, the room was dead silent. He just crouched there, his chest heaving as he watched you, analyzing every tiny expression on your face.
"I think you're lying," he finally said, his voice a gravelly whisper.
You raised an eyebrow, letting out a soft, slurred chuckle. "Is that so?"
He stood up abruptly, fixing his shirt and tugging at his pants to try and conceal his frustration. "And I think you need to go fucking lie down," he muttered, his tone clipped.
Determined to have the last word, you stood up from the couch. The sudden movement made the room spin, and the soju hit you like a wave. Your balance gave out, and you stumbled forward. Jiyong moved instantly, his hands shooting out to catch you by the waist, steadying your weight against his solid frame.
Instead of pulling away, you leaned heavily against his chest, your small hands moving up to cup his face. You tilted your head up, locking your gaze onto his deep brown eyes. Leaning in close, you gently caught his bottom lip between your teeth, biting it just enough to make him gasp before pulling at it slightly and letting it go.
"Okay, Oppa," you whispered against his lips.
You stepped back out of his embrace, giving him one last smile before turning on your heel and heading straight toward your bedroom.
Left alone in the living room, Jiyong stood frozen. He was completely, painfully aroused. The anger and desire boiled over, and with a sudden burst of pure fury, he slammed his fist hard against the living room wall. The heavy thud vibrated through the apartment.
He was drowning in frustration. Frustrated that you had been out with another man. Frustrated that he didn't actually know if you had really slept with Yunho or if you were just playing with his mind. And most of all, he was deeply, dangerously frustrated because he wanted to fuck you right now more than he had ever wanted anything in his life.
He took a ragged breath, trying to force the air back into his lungs. Running a tense hand through his black hair before following your footsteps straight into the dark bedroom.
You were already completely passed out, slumped half on and half off the mattress by the time he walked into the dark room. The heavy effects of the soju had finally caught up to you, and your tiny snores softly echoed through the quiet space.
Jiyong stood at the edge of the mattress, looking down at you. The tight, furious expression he had been wearing finally softened, and a quiet smile touched his lips. Moving gently so he wouldn't startle you, he reached down and carefully unbuckled your high heels, sliding them off your feet and setting them aside. He then gathered you up in his arms, lifting your weight easily to move you fully onto the bed.
The moment your head hit the mattress, you immediately snuggled deep into the plush pillow, letting out a soft sigh of contentment. Jiyong stood by the bedside and let out a quiet exhale of his own. He kicked off his leather shoes, undid his watch, and unbuttoned his shirt, tossing it over the nearest chair. After reaching over to shut off the bedside lamp and plunging the room into absolute darkness, he slid under the heavy duvet beside you.
To his absolute surprise, the moment his warmth settled into the mattress, your body instinctively sought him out. You rolled over right away, cuddling flush against his bare chest, your hands finding a familiar resting place against his torso as your tiny snores continued without a break.
Jiyong couldn't help but smile in the dark, looking down at the top of your head. . Reaching up, he gently brushed a stray lock of hair away from your forehead, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against your skin. He wrapped one solid arm around your waist, pulling you securely against him, before finally closing his own eyes and letting the exhaustion of the long night carry him to sleep.
Before your eyes were even fully open, the morning sun was already blinding you through the window. You squinted hard, trying to adjust to the light, but the entire bedroom looked like a blurry, spinning mess. Your ears rang with a dull buzz and your head ached fiercely behind your temples. You didn't want to move a single muscle.
Thankfully, the comforting realization hit you that you didn't have to work today.
Seeking comfort, you rolled over on the mattress, expecting to grab your plush pillow. Instead, your hand landed flat against a broad, radiating wall of warm skin. Startled, your eyes snapped wide open. You let out a panicked scream, scrambling backward so fast that you got completely tangled in the heavy sheets. The momentum carried you right off the mattress, and you hit the floor with a loud, painful thud.
"Fuck!" you yelled, clutching your throbbing head.
Jiyong sat up right away, his reflexes kicking in as his eyes darted around the room for the source of the danger before finally looking down over the edge of the bed to where you lay in a heap.
You sat up slowly, rubbing your sore forehead and blinking rapidly as your vision finally began to come together. The blurry shapes sharpened, and you found yourself staring right at him. Jiyong. You looked up at his bare chest, seeing that he was completely shirtless, and a wave of absolute panic washed over you.
"Did—did we..." you stammered
Jiyong looked down at you from the mattress, a slow smirk spreading across his lips. "No," he said smoothly.
You let out a massive sigh of relief, leaning back against the wall for physical support as the hangover threatened to pull you under. Seeing your reaction, Jiyong's smirk faltered into a cold expression. He scoffed, looking at you with an irritated gaze.
"Why would that be such a bad thing?" he asked, his deep voice rough from sleep. "Last time I checked, we haven't had sex in days."
You scoffed, rolling your eyes as you ran a hand through your messy hair. Refusing to engage with his attitude while your brain felt like it was exploding, you pushed yourself up from the floor, untangled your legs from the sheets, and marched straight into the kitchen.
You opened the cabinet, shook out a couple of Tylenol, and poured yourself a massive glass of cold water. You downed the medicine, drinking the water greedily as the cool liquid hit your parched throat.
A moment later, heavy footsteps padded into the kitchen behind you. Jiyong followed you out, rubbing his sleepy eyes with the back of his hand, his hair artfully messy from sleep. He didn't say anything at first. He walked right past you to the patio door, sliding it open to let a waiting Bear out into the crisp morning air.
Once the door was shut, he turned back around. He leaned against the counter, crossing his bare arms over his chest, and just stood there in total silence, watching you finish every last drop of your water.
You wiped your mouth with the back of your hand and let out a heavy sigh, rubbing at your temples. "What were you even doing here?" you muttered, your voice strained.
Jiyong raised an eyebrow, his expression hardening. "What, I can't stay the night here now?"
"I... I really don't want to fight," you groaned, closing your eyes against the throbbing pain. "My head is killing me."
"Yeah, you were pretty drunk last night," Jiyong said, his tone dry.
You looked up at him, a sudden wave of confusion hitting you through the hangover fog. "When exactly did you get here?"
Jiyong stayed silent for a second, his eyes watching your expression before he finally answered. "Right before you got home."
You scoffed, shaking your head. Of course he did. You ran your hand through your messy hair again, staring at him. "Wha—what, do you just happen to know my door code also?"
Jiyong said nothing, offering no explanation for how he had bypassed your security.
You shook your head, completely exhausted. "You know what? I—I can't have this conversation right now. I really just want to lie down and sleep my fucking day away."
"Fine," Jiyong said flatly. He turned on his heel and started walking back toward the bedroom to grab his things. But as he walked away, his voice carried back to the kitchen. "But I should at least get a thank you."
You furrowed your brows, raising a hand in exasperation as he walked back into the room, pulling his button-up shirt over his bare shoulders. "Thank you for what?"
Jiyong stopped, buttoning his cuffs as he looked at you. "For getting your drunk ass into bed without hurting yourself. If I wasn't here—"
"If you weren't here, Jiyong," you interrupted, scoffing loudly, "I would have been completely fine. Just like I was before I ever met you."
Jiyong scoffed back, a dark, bitter edge to his voice. "Oh, really? You often sleep with random men and get drunk enough where you can't even walk straight?"
You stared at him, completely confused by his words. Your brain scrambled to remember the blurry details of the night before. "What are you talking about? I never slept with anyone. I—I went out to dinner with Yunho, that's all."
"That's not what you told me last night," Jiyong said, his jaw tightening as he threw your own whispered words back at you.
You let out a frustrated sigh, leaning against the counter. "Jiyong, I was drunk last night. You're really going to believe what a drunk person was saying?"
Turning your back to him, you opened the freezer, rummaging through the shelves until you found a cold ice pack. You pulled it out and pressed it gently against your forehead, the freezing cold sending a sharp jolt through your throbbing head as you tried to process just how much trouble your drunken mouth had gotten you into.
A slow, knowing smirk spread across Jiyong’s face, all the lingering irritation melting away into total smug satisfaction. He leaned his shoulder against the doorframe, crossing his arms over his chest as he watched you press the ice pack to your forehead. The heavy, anger that had been driving him crazy vanished, replaced by the sheer pleasure of realizing you had engineered the entire thing just to mess with his head.
"So," Jiyong purred, "You didn't sleep with him?''
You rolled your eyes, not acknowledging his smugness as you pressed the ice pack firmly against your head.
"You went out of your way to parade him in front of my office," Jiyong continued, taking a slow step into the kitchen, his bare feet padding softly on the floor. " You came home and whispered all those nasty little lies right to my face..." He paused, stopping right in front of you. "...all because you wanted to make me jealous''
He scoffed a light, triumphant laugh, completely reveling in the fact that he was back in control. "Look at you. You were so desperate to get under my skin that you invented a whole script just to see how far you could push me."
You scoffed, your voice dripping with annoyance. "I wasn't desperate for shit''
You immediately winced, the sheer loudness of your own voice sending a sharp, agonizing spike of pain straight through your throbbing head. You closed your eyes tight, desperately wanting nothing more than to stop this conversation right now.
Jiyong just chuckled softly, completely unbothered. "It sure sounded like it last nig—"
"Ok, ok! Fine!" you yelled, cutting him off before instantly lowering your voice with a painful groan. "I was trying to make you jealous, okay? It was stupid and immature, and I honestly should not have fallen into the trap."
You let out a frustrated huff, the raw exhaustion finally breaking through your defensive walls. You looked up at him, the hurt in your eyes replacing the anger. "But when I saw that girl's text message on your phone, I just—"
"Wait," Jiyong interrupted, his eyebrows knitted together in genuine confusion. "What girl?"
"It was the night before last, when you left to go to the bathroom," you said, your voice cracking slightly. "I heard a phone buzz on the nightstand and I thought it was mine. But I looked, and I saw some girl named... Seo-ah, I think? She was asking where her..... underwear was."
The moment the name left your lips, Jiyong's face went completely white.
It was an expression you had never seen on his face before—the absolute vulnerability completely replacing his usual arrogant composure. You stared into his deep brown eyes, your heart hammering as you waited for him to give you an explanation. You waited for him to tell you it was a mistake, a joke, or a misunderstanding.
But nothing came. He just stood there, completely frozen.
You let out a bitter, heartbroken scoff and turned away from him, the icy sting of reality hitting you far worse than the hangover.
"Y/n..." Jiyong finally began.
"Is it true?" you interrupted sharply, refusing to look back at him as you gripped the edge of the kitchen counter. You paused, swallowing down the lump in your throat before forcing the final words out. "Did she leave her panties in your house?"
Jiyong let out a heavy sigh. He ran a tense hand through his thick black hair, his eyes dropping to the floor as the silence between you stretched to a painful, breaking point.
As you heard no words leave his mouth, you shook your head, the bitter confirmation wrapping around your chest like a vice.
"That's exactly what I thought, too," you whispered.
You took a sharp inhale, forcing down the threatening tears that burned behind your eyes. Turning around to face him fully, "I think you need to leave''
Jiyong stepped forward instantly, his hands reaching out to catch your arms, but you quickly stepped back and avoided his touch.
"Y/n, let me explain. She—" He paused, stumbling over his words as if trying to format the sentence in a way that wouldn't completely shatter you.
You searched his deep brown eyes, looking for any shred of the honesty you thought the two of you shared. "It's a yes or no answer, Ji. It's not hard."
"It's more complicated than that, Y/n!" Jiyong said, his voice laced with a rare, desperate panic.
You gritted your teeth, the anger flaring up to shield you from the heartbreak. "Yes. Or. No."
Jiyong looked down at your soft, tear-rimmed eyes, his shoulders dropping heavily. The silence in the kitchen broke as he gave you the final, crushing truth.
"Yes."
