Just got home from an amazing weekend in St. Louis!! Loved getting to meet some incredible girls, and getting 2nd on day 1 and 1st on day 2 was just icing on the cake 🎉

So I haven’t been on tumblr for a while but I thought reflecting on my year would be a good time to come back. wow. 2016 has been pretty awesome. Like any year, 2016 had its ups and downs but overall it was an absolutely amazing year!! It has been one of my best years so far. I’m happy to say that I placed my personal best at all 3 majors and finally broke the 5 year streak of not winning a feis. The highlight of my year was definitely getting a world medal. It was something that has been one of my ultimate goals since I found out what is was and I never thought it would actually happen. I’m still pinching myself to this day. Another memorable moment was being onstage as a world qualifier with my best friend @reel-sassfaketans. She has been working long and hard to get to worlds and to watch her surpass her goal is something I’ll never forget. Although there were some injuries, and a couple goals I didn’t reach, 2016 was better than I could’ve imagined! I’m ready to continue the journey in 2017 :)

She has worked her ass off for the past few years and I teared up when she ran on stage as a world qualifier for the first time.

This weekend was just a dream come true. Up until 2 weeks ago, I was not supposed to be doing a solo at the Oireachtas, only teams. But, my parents and my dance teachers gave me the opportunity to compete my solo on Friday. I didn’t think I was ready but there was nothing to lose because I couldn’t dance last year. So I danced, and I’m so happy I did because I placed third in such a difficult age group with so many amazing dancers! And to top things off, we won the figure, placed 2nd in the four hand AND won the senior eight hand for the TENTH YEAR IN A ROW! So proud of my school and all our dancers who worked so hard for the Oireachtas, especially my younger sister who, even though didn’t get the placement she wanted, held herself with grace and poise even when she wanted to break down. She is an amazing role model to the younger students in the school and I am so proud of her. 💜💜

Another oireachtas in the books. I still can't believe I was able to reach my goal of qualifying for worlds and then exceed that goal and finish in the top 10. It has been such a long journey and I wouldn't change a thing. I feel so lucky that I was able to reach my goal because there are so many amazing dancers out there. Couldn't thank my teachers, friends, and family enough for helping me and always believing in me. I couldn't be more excited to continue my dance journey in Dublin. I also love love love my new look. My dress was made by Taylor dresses and designed/blinged by @glitzjigsandsass 💕

Curious as to others' opinions--

I wish we did something like Ireland (though it’s hella expensive) where we have one nationals that’s open to everyone and one that’s only for people in North America. I realize it’s super fun to travel and personally, I’d love to go to All Ireland’s one day but if you look at the top 5s for most of the comps at NANs, a great majority of them, including the champion aren’t even from North America but from Ireland or Australia.. I recognize how hard everyone works but it just kinda sucks when you can only go to your own nationals (usually because of the cost of attending others) and most of the top placers are world champs from other countries.. Just my opinion, open to hear other people’s thoughts.
