"i am wonderful. i deserve to be wonderful. and i contain multitudes."
DCOM re-watch project: brink! (1998)
"when you woke up this morning, did you say to yourself: today i'm gonna talk, or today i'm gonna skate?"
iconic and a treat to revisit. a personal favorite (easily a top 3 DCOM for me) and still fun as hell. also? the soundtrack holds up in a major way—i found myself adding some of the songs on spotify as i was watching.
Coming to theaters this summer, courtesy of NEON.

DEADLINE: soairse ronan and austin butler are set to star in A24's adaptation of 'deep cuts'
the novel by holly brickley (released february 25th) follows two music-obsessed twenty-somethings in the 2000s, navigating the messy realities of ambition, belonging, and adulthood over the course of an era-defining decade.
the film will be directed by sean durkin, whose name you might recognize from 2023's 'the iron claw.'
RIP michelle trachtenberg 💔 (via bustle)
so many of us grew up watching michelle, from 'harriet the spy,' to 'ice princess,' to 'gossip girl.' a surreal and heartbreaking loss.
today's watch: companion (2025), dir. drew hancock
went into this one semi-blindly (i think i'd only seen one teaser trailer prior to watching), and i'm so glad i did. i thought this was a pretty fun and twisty take on sci-fi horror/comedy that not-so-subtly served as a cautionary tale about the privileged lonely man.

the gorge (2025), dir. scott derrickson
not your average valentine's day feature: this one is a genre-bending, action-packed sci-fi/horror/romance mashup with plenty of suspense and jump-scares to go along with miles teller and anya taylor-joy's chemistry.
i love that scott derrickson listed 'titanic' as one of his references when making this film, as it definitely has "two people fall in love amid extraordinary circumstances that are, unbeknownst to them, ultimately doomed" written all over it. i mean, they literally had miles teller dressed in a white button-down and suspenders a la jack dawson for a sequence, which i thought was a pretty fun nod.
also, some stellar needle drops throughout the movie, which comes as no surprise with trent reznor and atticus ross behind the music.
"I really do love a character. I'm an Italian widow. Or maybe I’m a mistress who has been jilted by her lover. Either way, I’m alone. In my villa. And to keep myself amused, I’m trying on all of my clothes and jewelry, and I’m wandering around the stunning home that I will have to leave behind." — Ayo Edebiri for W Magazine, directed and photographed by Luca Guadagnino (x)
what i'm watching this valentine's day weekend: the gorge (2025) dir. scott derrickson, starring miles teller and anya taylor-joy
two of my favorites coming together for a horror-thriller-romance? i'm seated.
i loved miles teller in throwback films such as 'the spectacular now' and 'whiplash,' and no one can deny his full-on heartthrob transformation for 'top gun: maverick.' as for anya taylor-joy's work, standouts for me include 'the menu,' 'last night in soho,' and of course 'the queen's gambit.'

haunting. stunning. a no-brainer for its best cinematography nomination. i thought lily-rose depp gave an impressive and memorable performance as well.
