A Night at the Museum...actually a wedding at a museum. On Friday July 5th my cousin Proma got married to the love of her life Ankush. The wedding was at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia, PA. I have been to a wedding at a castle and a hotel, but never a museum. I would have never thought about having a wedding at a museum, but it's was actually such a great idea. The museum itself is so gorgeous with its historical statues of Benjamin Franklin, huge columns, and marble floors, which means if your throwing a wedding at a place that's already beautiful there really isn't much decorating to do. The wedding ceremony was held in the planetarium, which was neat cause images of the moon and stars twinkled above our heads as they said their "I do's." Shortly after the ceremony we were escorted to a different part of the museum where cocktail hour began and 3-4 open bars were spread out throughout the exhibits as well as some crudités and hors d'oeuvres. During cocktail time you were free to roam around and check out the exhibits. This in particular was one of my favorite times at the wedding, because you were able to have a cocktail in one hand while reading and learning about the various heart formations in the other. I like being in places that educate, I guess I'm just a dork at heart...After about an hour or so we picked up our favors (which were little succulant plants) that held our table numbers and were lead into the main hall for the reception. The ceilings were high, the lighting was awesome, and the walls were filled with Benjamin Franklin quotes and pictures of the bride and groom. The wait staff was very fun and friendly. Tyrone in particular was a pleasure to talk too: "You all look so pretty in your Indian outfits. Would you like some Chicken, how about some Salmon, how about you just take it all(Tyrone expresses in his Philly accent)LOL... The rest of the night was filled with reminiscent speeches, dinner, dancing and some champagne. All in all, the wedding was a success and probably one of the best weddings I have ever been to. So if your planning on getting married sometime soon, it may be good to stray away from the typical hotel and host your wedding at a museum cause it will defiantly be a night to remember.
