Bekka left boys back home in Boston with her mom but Carl tagged along with his sister back to Quantico where they would soon hear the reversion of Dimitri’s? cause of death and to identify his body once more. It was painful and scary for Bekka to have to go back here and handle this all over again a year later. She had been doing good and now she was worried this news would trigger her into reliving the nightmare. “Hey Commissioner,” Bekka walked up beside Ben. “It’s strange…being back here again.” Nora seen Bekka talking to Ben but she had not the time for this. Nora opened the door to Reese’s lab. “Do you know anything yet? Everyone is out here waiting.” Nora said being pushy. Nova just standing around looking depressed. “I can’t believe you just wont let the man rest! If death is not the time for rest then I don’t know where it.” she said dramatically. Noticing Bekka was there. “Oh, Bekka. You somehow managed to show….” Bekka looked up at Nova. “I know you’re pissed. I should’ve been more sensitive in telling you about your dad. Sorry, She shrugged. Nova shook her head, “I can’t–There you go making everything about you. Today isn’t about you Bekka as shocking as that may seem to you. It’s about MY daaaad.” Nova snapped back. Bekka went to speak up but Nova shushed her. “My husband is about to speak!” She said and went and stood by his side.

“Hey, you.” Ben said with a heavy heart and stood by her. Reese looked stressed at Nora and sighed stepping out. “If you all are done the Results are in. The examination came back and revealed as before cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. The DNA test came back and there is definitely Carter blood.” He shrugged. “I don’t know what else to tell ya. I mean poor tax payer dollars huh?” He tried to laugh it off.

Nova’s heart skipped a beat. “But he could be dead now…. Somewhere….” She felt the guilt creep in if they was not to speak of the truthful results. “Daaad, mom was right, Reese. Isn’t that wild love?” She felt her heart could still be mended by her dysfunctional father daughter relationship. If he was alive then it wasn’t too late. “What would you do pumpkin? I’m conflicted.”

“Oh no my little cupcake. You don’t listen to me as a husband about anything else why start now.” He grinned. “But whatever you decide I shall help you execute. I’ll ask you again in the morning. I know you change frequently.”

She laughs like a Carter, “ That’s one of the reasons why I love you pumpkin.” She kisses her man. “That depends… I didn’t mind not mentioning a word about hearing my mother on the other end of the phone line months before she turned back up. I say it’s a little pay back. Nova’s gonna stop them now.” She evil grins.

Reese done his examination that night early so he would be prepared for the one done in the morning so they snuck in and came to the conclusion and stepped out to Nova. “It’s not him.” He shook his head. “The report says Russo shot him in the side and he was alive but whoever that man is... He was shot in the side postmortem. 100% no doubt about it. verdict. Alive or not Your father is out there somewhere but this is not him....” He put his hand on her shoulder. “But only we have to know that.”

Nova cackled, “ We’ll see puddy.” She kinda liked having him at her mercy. “Reese is right mother. And why are you always so selfish to be putting ME through the pain of burying Daaaad all over again..I just stopped having nightmares of him abandoning me for the to be replaced with burrying him every night.” She actually cried. “I’ll be by your side rooting you on for your first autopsy back from a impaired man.” They sepreated from Nora. “What if mom is right? What about the money…..”

“It’s fine we just need to wait until I do my examination. and Should it come back it isn’t him.” He looked at Nova “Is it still him?” He questioned whether or not they would reveal the truth and help her father or let it be.

Nora refused to believe Dimitri was actually dead and Jane was missing when the first places she went when she got back was to question Kat about her mothers where abouts. Because she knew that D-man was last seen with her that night the both got abducted. Reese and Nova stood there as Nora stood in front of them pacing back and forth where here lies Dimitri Carter was plated into the ground. “You let Father Dean speak at his alleged funeral?” She rolled her eyes. Calling the meeting right at the grave. “Mom why…why are here? You’re in denial it’s fine. you still loved him I guess…I don’t know why.” Nova wanted to go. “Reese needs rest he’s just getting back on his feet. You know he was a better fuck when he was paralyzed I just might get you into another accident cause I don’t mind a good tongue.” she said flirting with her husband trying to be all cute. Nora dismissed her daughter like usual. “I want another autopsy done. I’m telling you I have a connection with this man and he’s not dead because I still feel to alive to believe I’m existing without him!” Nora said, and Nova teared up but only because if it was true…. Reese and Nova owed so much money back.

“No. Dumbekka arranged that hey did you hear she named the baby dimbek.” He scoffed and then laughed. “ Injury won’t be necessary Cupcake.” he’d eat it without facing death or loss of limb because he knew she’d try. Oh shit Reese thought and looked at Nova and back at Nora. “W-well of course. I’ll do it if you insist but denial is the first step of grief so lets play it cool till the results are in.”

Nova ran a drizzle of water from the sponge to his hair. “I wasn’t going to say anything, but The check was delivered today!” She said so excited. “No more filing for bankruptcy, Pumpkin!” She said all joyful.

“Finally! Your father came through for you nova!” Reese was beyond ecstatic that the money would be enough to cove everything and them live off of for a while as he recovered. “We should celebrate.”

The Day Daaad Died

“We’ll get through it. Yes, he does he’s handsome.” She took his hand as Bekka walked into the room. “Wow, you look like shit!” Nova laughed. It was clear that Bekka had been crying. “Where is your mother?” Bekka asked with a not shitting around tone. “Uh, I don’t know she left to get Spencer and never came back.” Nova wasn’t much worried because her mother did things like that often. Bekka looked at Nova and Reese. “Nova-Your dad is dead.” She said and walked out of the room and to see Kratos. Nova laughs a little and then her laugh turned into a panic laugh as she looked over at Reese. And then the news came on and reported the death of Detective Carter on the tiny hospital tv screen. “Nooooo! DaAAAAd!” Nova screams.

Reese honestly didn’t believe Bekka because she could be over dramatic and figured he was only dead to her because of a fight. But the TV proved otherwise. “Oh, Oh dear.” He knew how terrible this was going to be for the family. Reese grabbed her hand and pulled her over onto him it wasn’t like he could feel his legs anyway he held Arthur to his side and hugged Nova. “He wasn’t there for you then and you had me and now that he’s gone you have me now too.”

Nova winced at him raising his voice. “You’re not that broken… can you still obtain an erection?” She really hoped so even tho they hadn’t banged in a while. “He’s doing good.” She was grateful that even when he though he was dying he was there helping her the best he knew how. ‘Say hi,” She said and placed Arthur on Reese chest.

“I can’t even obtain a bathroom break on my own.” He held up the hanging cord to his catheter before dropping it and patting his newborn son on the back gently. “He looks like me.” He said not in shock but more in the look of he was sorry he ever considered it might not be even tho he would have never spoke up about it.

“What are you implying Reese?” She folded her arms closing herself off to him. Numbing herself to his words so he couldn’t hurt her so bad. It was all about the perspective.”It not my fault you don’t make enough money that my dream of being the next Adele came close but didn’t quite make it because you failed me financially.” Nova laughed, “And you’ve been influenced by too much I love Lucy growing up!” She sassed. “It’s 2018 Reese wake. the. fuck. up.”

“Pumpkin,” Nova had fled from Nashville back to her husband and Daughter. She was flat broke spending every single penny of her college fund from her father and now she wasn’t even being paid on the radio due to Nova’s last credit card being maxed out to support her air time at the end of last month, so now they were just left with the debt and bad auto tuned songs. Nova glanced at Reese trying to crunch bills. “We can just fucking file for bankruptcy!” she said annoyed and like it was that simple. “This egg is about to hatch, Reese!” She said stressing him with more responsibility because the baby was going to take even more money they didn’t have. “I was busting my ass for the past six months and you couldn’t even keep the mortgage at bay? I thought husbands were supposed to hold the fort down for the family.” She only felt entitled to complain and blame him for everything because that’s all she was taught to do after all.

Reese listened to her screech what he already knew in his ear as she spent them into poverty and Blamed him for it. “I’m aware of the gestation period Nova. You Sure that wasn’t Dusty’s hand doing all the busting of your donkey.” He knew about her affair with her kinda stepdad and that spanking was a kink for daddy daughter and it was unthinkable to him. “Have you ever thought that maybe all my money is gone because you spent it faster than I can make it? His voice filled with grit and defeat from the past six months with Nova’s only presence showing up in his bank account up to now with her being back. “And I thought Wives were supposed to tend and care for their offspring and weren’t supposed to stray, dishonor or disrespect their husbands and embarrass their family but here we are.”

“Dimitri liked seeing Bekka with a little girl whether Bekka like it or not she seemed a little bit different when caring for girls than boys, but not in a bad way. “That looks good on you.” He hints. “What? Dusty she took Dusty?” Dimitri laughed and looked at Bekka as he gently bounced Gadget in his arms. “All of her songs are gonna be about her absence parent just like Kelly Pickler and Kelly Clarkson’s.” He sighed. “Sorry Bekka I never had to change a girl’s diaper I don’t know what’s too little and what’s too much.”

“Huh, what does?” Bekka didn’t get what Dimitri was hinting at all. “Okay, so she abandoned you and Cakes and you come here because you don’t wanna change her diapers?” Bekka rolled her eyes at Reese cause that was their relationship. “Come on little Debbie.” She made a punny and walked Cakes into the bathroom where she bathed her. “Dim, I need a towel.” she shouts from her knees as she awaited the drying cloth.

“No! I Came here because My wife left me and my child motherless it’s all your godforsaken Boyfriends fault!” They were disgusting living life this being what ever they were together.” I Deserve time to grieve. She done this because of You I know you know she did.” He looked at Dimitri as he left to bring Bekka a towel and Reese left. “I hope this doesn’t make her like Nova.” He said lowly to himself out in the hall way passing Ezra. (Meaning her daddy leaving her for a few days.)

Bekka held out the crying Gadget, “Okay, let’s swap.” She said taking over the changing station. “Shew! what are you feeding her?” she questioned Reese. “Ouch. Girl I know that’s burning.” She said seeing the fecal in places it didn’t belong. “I’m just going to give her a bath I guess… Where’s her mom?”

“Yeah really.” Reese said disgusted at Dimitri because it was all his fault. “Well right now she’s singing hit the road jack to herself! Who knows when she’ll come back she might try to show back up or wait for Cakes to be 15 and show up at her door like you did.” He sat down on the nasty to him sofa and ran his hands through his hair as Dimitri was dumb about how to change a little girl. But Reese didn’t care they could just deal right now until he had a minute. “Food. Why does it matter? really she does that no matter if it’s KFC or cheerios.” He was waiting for them to leave him alone for he could leave for a day or two. “She’s with He mother’s Ex-boyfriend in Nashville! Okay! she’s gone.” He rolled his eyes distressed.

Reese Showed up at Bekka’s apartment with Cakes as soon as they opened door Reese let himself in. “Your daughter left me to become a singer in Nashville.” He laughed manically. “And I’m not build to do this on my own so nope.” He hands Cakes to Dimitri and her diaper was dirty and still warm. “You screwed Nova up and ruined her life and now you’re ruining your granddaughters! You took her mother away! She doesn’t know how to stay because you never did!” He hated them so much Nora included.

“Thanks for understanding, dumpling. Oh, do not fear Arthur and I will be perfectly fine I promise.” She smiled. “Goodbye for a little while.” She said and out the front door she went wondering if he would try to stop her.

“Pumpkin!” Rushed to the door way quick. “I don’t ever want to get in your way, but just remember how much you needed your father. Cakes needs her mother the same way.” He said hoping to instill in her a reason to come back.

If Nova’s dad dumbmitri could make his dream happen so could she. “I think..it would be best if I went about it alone. I need to do this alone, cupcake.”
