Love is in the air! ā¦Or at least thatās what advertisers want you to think this month. While itās nice to express your love often, Valentineās Day comes once a year, leaving you no choice but to do so or risk seeming heartless. For the owners of floral boutiques and chocolate shops, Eid comes in February. But even amidst such commercialized affections, one can hardly keep from thinking about those they love. And while we do so, we are inevitably faced with some pivotal questions. I was reminded of some of those questions when I reflected on something a friend of mine had told me. She described how it felt to be with the person she loved. In her words, the whole world disappeared when they were together. The more I reflected on her statement, the more it affected me, and the more it made me wonder. As humans, we are made to feel love and attachment towards others. This is part of our human nature. While we can feel this way about another human being, five times a day we enter into a meeting with our Lord and Creator. I wondered how often we ever felt the whole world disappear while in His presence. Can we really claim that our love for Allah is greater than our love for anyone and anything else? So often we think that Allah only tests us with hardships, but this isnāt true. Allah also tests with ease. He tests us with na`im (blessings) and with the things we love, and it is often in these tests that so many of us fail. We fail because when Allah gives us these blessings, we unwittingly turn them into false idols of the heart. When Allah blesses us with money, we depend on the money rather than Allah. We forget that the source of our provision is not and never was the money, but rather it was the giver of that money. Suddenly weāre willing to sell alcohol to avoid losing money in our business, or we need to take out loans with interest to feel secure. In so doing we are foolishlyāand ironicallyādisobeying the Provider in order to protect the provision. When Allah blesses us with someone that we love, we forget that Allah is the source of that blessing, and we begin to love that person as we should love Allah. That person becomes the center of our worldāall our concerns, thoughts, plans, fears, and hopes revolve only around them. If they are not our spouses, we are sometimes even willing to fall into haram just to be with them. And if they were to leave us, our whole world would crumble. So now, we have shifted our worship from the Source of the blessing to the blessing itself. Allah says of such people: āAnd [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah.ā (Qurāan 2:165) It is because of this tendency to lose sight after Allah has bestowed His blessings that He warns us in the Qurāan when He says: āSay, [O Muhammad], āIf your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.āā (9:24) It is important to note that all the things listed in the above ayah (verse) are halal (permissible) to love and are, in fact, blessings in and of themselves. In fact, some of those blessings are signs of Allah. On the one hand, Allah says: āAnd of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.ā (Qurāan 30:21) But on the other hand, Allah warns: āO you who have believed, indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them.ā (Qurāan 64:14) The warning in this ayah is critical. Our spouses and our children are listed here because they are among the blessings we love the most. And it is in that which you love most that you find the greatest test. So if conquering that test means seeing through a storm of greeting cards and roses to a greater love that awaits, then so be it. And when could that be more relevant? Because after all, love is in the air.

āāYa Rab, why me?āā She said. If only she knew.
āāNo soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear.āā (2:233)
āā..And Allah loves the steadfast.āā (3:146)
āā[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.āā (67:2)
āAnd rely upon Allah ; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.ā (33:3)
āDo the people think that they will be left to say, āWe believeā and they will not be tried?ā (29:2)
āāAnd We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.ā (2:155)
āYou will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.āā (3:186)
āāThere, [on that Day], every soul will be put to trial for what it did previously, and they will be returned to Allah , their master, the Truth, and lost from them is whatever they used to invent.āā (10:30)
āāO you who have believed, Allah will surely test you through something of the game that your hands and spears [can] reach, that Allah may make evident those who fear Him unseen. And whoever transgresses after that - for him is a painful punishment.Ā āā(5:94)
ā'Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.ā (21:35)
āBut We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.ā (29:3)
āAnd We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah ] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.ā (47:31)
āā¦but Allah will reward the grateful.ā'Ā (3:144)
ā'But Allah is your protector, and He is the best of helpers.ā (3:150)Ā Ā

I NEVER KNEW THAT
Always always reblogging this if I see it on my dashboard
Dear future husband.
I been trying to figure out a way to write these words. I think itās because thatās when I turned 24, I was consciously dreaming on how to spend my life with you. Iāve been patient while battling temptation from a world that tells me a love story should start from a young age, even in kids movies there a stories about love, how it should be. But since a young age I also knew that true love is way more beautiful then what are shown to us. True love is free of selfishness. True love is wanting the best for your spouse without wanting anything in return. Itās being happy because you see your spouse pleased. Joy and happiness are shared with a beautiful bond by the permission of Allah. I want you to smile and always feel joy in your heart when you are in my company. I also know that love is something you build, even hardships are tools do build it with. It makes the relationship stronger and gives it more meaning. I want to meet you in the right time in life. In a time where I have achieved certain goals first. And in shaa Allah this time is soon to come.
Some nights I stay up visualizing a life, one where Iād never leave your side. A bestfriend for a lifetime, a true soulmate which I can share all my laughter and funny stories with. The one whom I can speak deep meaningful conversations with. One which I want to impact to become better person. I want us to impact each other in ways that makes both of us strive for better, in all different kind of paths in this life, and for the next.
One day youāll take my hand in marriage, Iāll smile and youāll say, āweāre married.ā Iāll remind you that your love was always mine to carry. Our smiles will shine the darkest of days. We will make new stories in our lives. We will travel around the world, work hard and make memories that will forever stay in our minds and hearts. We will learn so much new things about each other, things we didnt knew about one another. We will grow, and appreciate each other more and more with time. We will thank Allah for the biggest blessing in our lives, the day we met each other.
The love we will create when we have children will validate every word I say. Iāll love you forever and hold your hand each and every day. I will see you being the best dad, carrying our kids while doing stupid faces only to make them laugh. I will laugh along. I will try to be the best mother, nourish our children with care, love and teach them important lessons. You will smile while helping to make the best childhood memories for our little babies. They will grow and appreciate us, we will grow old together and think āhow did time went so fastā. We will smile with our hearts when our kids comes to visit us. It started with us two, and it will end with us two, just with more love from every corner.
I believe in fate. So no matter where you are in the universe right now, weāll find each other in the right time, in shaa Allah. I look forward to share the new chapter of love with you. In our path in this life reaching for Jannah, I want us to hold hands and do it together. Your queen looks forward to meet her king. One beautiful day, in shaa Allah.
Your future wife
some little poem set from me to you š
May AllÄh swt ease the suffering and have mercy upon the Rohingya Muslims.
aaj ki chai is from this scene in tapan sinhaās ek doctor ki maut (1990). shabana azmiās understated but poignant performance as seema, the wife of a brilliant doctor whose single obsession with his research brings selfishness and callousness to his marriage is so visceral, especially in small moments like this one. seema fries purisĀ and make two cups of tea as she waits for her husband to come home, a familiar scene in the homes of many, especially within india. her husband talks about his research, the people he met, and lists all his complaints for the day before being cajoled into sitting at the dinner table. she serves the tea and the plate of puris and sits by his side, shoulder to shoulder, as a companion. then she talks about her conversation with her sister while gently reprimanding her husband for never calling those relatives back. he agrees to please her and then quickly grabs his cup of tea and two purisĀ to leave for his lab. and seema! shocked and baffled, she tells him sheās not yet finished with her tea only to hear that familiar indifferenceāāthen finish itā. and shabana azmi with all the subtlety sheās know for, moves from shock to bitter acceptance and then quickly back to the briefest expression of hurt.Ā
and she drinks her cup of tea alone.
one thing i like about tapan sinhaās work in this film is that seema is her own person, not the archetype of a wife in indian films (even noncommercial ones) who only exists to mutely support and share the burden of her husbandās dreams. later in the film she expresses how that callousness feels and affects her, especially against the expectations of what she thought their marriage would be likeāone in which she is cared for, one in which there is companionship. i feel like i know too many women in marriages who drink their cup of tea alone. or put too much hope into what differences a cup of tea can bridge.Ā
I am so sick of the double standards my parents have toward me and my sister compared to my brother. They let him do things that I would get in trouble for? All because I'm a girl and it's not good for me to be doing that? I don't understand this at all I feel like it's u just to hold one child to a certain standard than another when it comes to our actions just because of our gender.
Well, I wasnāt raised in a household with double standards, alhamdulilah. My cousins werenāt either, and so, honestly, I never knew that I grew up in a very different household into much later in my life.
As far as how to handle this, I think my motherās example is the best I can offer to you: change the world starting with your household.
My mother was once accused of not doing anything, and I nearly freaked out on the lady who said that to her, and my mom stops me and just goes to the lady:
āYou know what? Youāre right. I do nothing. But if my values are worth anything, then they will be passed onto my children. When I die, insha Allah, I will have established 6 households, and if my values are good, they will be accepted in those 6 households. Those households will spread those values to their children, who will establish their households, and so on and so forth.ā
That really hit me. I mean, Iām not trying to excuse double standards, I think they are destructive to our communities, but my motherās answer really hit me.
Itās about what you do with those closest around you.
I know this great man, truly great, and he would hug and kiss his kids, seriously overwhelm his kids with love. Those kids loved their dad so much, when he would come around, they would run to him. I asked him why he did this, and he goes:
āMy father didnāt know how to show love, not because he was mean, but because this was how he was raised. I asked him when I was older, āwhy didnāt you hug and kiss me?ā My father said āthis is how I was raised,ā and I knew my father loved me, but he said: āletās see what you will do with your children.ā And I took that lesson to heart, so I hug and kiss my kids.ā
Those children, to this very day, love their father more than anyone Iāve ever seen love a father, masha Allah.
Itās up to people like me to speak out about these issues, because if Iām to take on leadership positions, it entails talking about this. And those whoāve seen me in person, know that I do address this, but, those examples above are the biggest lessons for me, personally.
Hi I was wondering if you have a pic of a groom and a bride in the car where she is wiping her tears and the groom is looking at her. Do you have pics like those
