Moira enjoys snow well enough — cold, just like her. She doesn't participate in such winter festivities, but she supposes she can't fault others for having their fun.
Until she's smacked directly in the face with a rather hard snowball.
"Absurd," she mutters, wiping off the snow that clings to her cheeks. She spots the offender, scoops up her own snowball, and by the time she straightens back up, they're gone.
Despite the fact that it was just a snowball, Harlow feels pure glee. It's an amount of glee disproportionate to the situation, and probably says some questionable things about them as a person... but they can't help it. They've always wanted to whack a Talon agent in the face.
The only problem is getting away. They thought it through up to going invisible, but the snow is still going to crunch under their feet when they walk. The footprints will give them away. Hmm...
They start running for it. They're sure they'll be spotted, but they need to get more snow. It's war.
Brigitte gives a sigh of relief as she she Harlow, happy to see them, happy to see their alright. She wants to inspect them to make sure, because she's not certain they'd tell her if something was wrong. Besides, they're too worried about her right now to focus on themselves.
She knows it's not a bad wound, head wounds just always look dramatic and bleed a lot. Nothing she can't fix. Brig reaches a hand out, touches Harlow's cheek, as if making sure they're really there, really okay. No one told her that caring for someone so deeply would have her distracted in the battlefield.
"I'm fine," she tells them, trying to give her best smile. "I got this. Just cover me while I try to get the bleeding to stop." She takes their hand and pulls them behind a large pile of rubble, using it as cover. She rips off the cloth in her hair, and presses it to the wound. It'll take a minute, but the bleeding should slow. "Have you seen anyone else?"
Harlow's far too distracted by worry to be of much use to anyone but Brigitte. They reach up to push her hair back, ever so gentle, the same way they'd align a laser in their lab. It's hard to see the wound, though.
They can't help but feel a little better when they feel her hand on their cheek. Their shoulders relax, some of the tension leaving before they even realize it was there to begin with.
When she gives them instructions, they follow them without hesitation. "Got it. Try to stay behind the concrete; that's what kept me, um." They forget the word. "...safe. Ish." They draw their gun, aiming at the ground, away from Brigitte. Their eyes linger on her for a moment, double- and triple-checking. Okay, maybe there's some slight hesitation.
They know she can handle herself, but they still don't want to turn away. "I didn't see anyone. But I, uh, I heard over comms that they're maybe a block or two from here." They finally look away, aiming around the corner of the still-standing building. "Just- just let me know if it doesn't stop bleeding? Please?"

Harlow has just finished packing a snowball as tightly as they can, aiming to get it as solid as possible. They won't throw it at anyone, of course. That'd be rude, and it might hurt! Maybe they can use it as the base for a snowman...
Or so they think, until they see Moira. Any other time, they might think about how bold it was for Talon to show their faces like this. But not this time. This time they have a weapon. They launch that sucker straight at her face with no hesitation.

"Oh, sure!" Harlow scoots their chair closer to Brigitte, clearing some space on the table. They're no artist, especially when it comes to food, but maybe Brigitte will be able to help them with that.
"Is this one of those preassembled ones? If it's not, I'm, um, I got pretty good at figuring out how to stop them from falling apart." Finally, they can put their physics degrees to good use (other than the whole invisibility thing).
They tie their hair back. They know better than to leave it loose when they're working with icing. Part of them wants to offer to do the same for Brigitte, and they open their mouth to offer before stopping themself. They're not sure if she'd be comfortable with that. "Let me, let me go wash my hands." Food safety is important!

Harlow blinks in surprise. They weren't expecting that suggestion, but the grin that creeps across their face - one that they haven't shown much since Talon's interference - gives away their own thoughts on the matter.
"I used to build them with my mémé and pépé. We tried to make them as big as we could get them." They look up at Siebren, their eyes shining. For a moment, they're that same child, pressing their nose to the foggy window and begging their grandparents to come play in the snow.
"I bet we could make the biggest one now!"

Harlow puts the finishing touches on their snowman — two lopsided sticks for arms. The entire snowman is just as lopsided, though they've managed to make a decent body for it. In lieu of coal for the eyes and mouth, they've opted for pebbles, which they've wedged into the snow.
The snowman looks more like he's seen things beyond comprehension and is smiling through the horrors, but he's charming in his own way.
"Oh! Do you, um, do you think I should give him a scarf?" They turn to look at Niran, brows raising. Did he get more blankets since they last looked over at him? "...Maybe you need the scarf more."

"Not as long as you steer it properly." Harlow motions to the front of the sled, pushing out to the sides with their feet. Their heels dig into the fresh snow. "You can turn with your feet. And as long as you keep your balance, there's... no death. This hill isn't steep enough for that." They should be fine. The fact that Moira's there does make them doubt that a little, but they should be fine.
It's probably the most Moira's gotten out of them all winter. Sledding reminds them of the family they haven't seen in a long time. It's not like Talon would let them go back to Montréal if they asked.

The blast knocks her nearly unconscious, covering her in dust and ash. Brigitte groans as she sits up, hand coming to the wound on her head, already bleeding and travelling down her face. She's quick to wipe it away and stand up — though she stands far too quickly, and stumbles on the spot.
No one is around, but she can still hear the firefight just around the corner. Nobody bothered to make sure she was dead, luckily. "Get it together, Brigitte," she mutters to herself, glancing around for her next move. She hears something to the side, and she sees movement out of the corner of her eye.
There was nothing there, but a small piece of rubble that shifted spots. "Harlow?" she says, voice low. Who else could it be, unless concrete has started to move on its own. "Are you there?" She feels silly, as if talking to the air. But if Harlow is here, she needs to know so they can regroup.
Enemies can come around the corner any moment.
They'd managed to avoid the brunt of the blast, ducking behind one of the still-standing buildings in time to hide from the shockwave. It's still enough to get them to fall on their back, rather unceremoniously, into a pile of debris. At least they're not hurt aside from some sore muscles.
It's only when they hear Brigitte's voice that panic bubbles up. They clamber to their feet, the concrete shifting beneath them, and check to make sure their surroundings are safe.
Harlow hears her call out for them, sees the blood on her head, and drops out of invisibility — they could try to help while invisible, but in this case it would draw more attention than it would prevent. No one else is here right now, anyway. Besides, they want her to see them. Maybe it'll bring comfort. "Yeah, it's me, I'm - are you okay? I mean, no, you're not, but-" Their hands shake as they rush over to inspect the wound on her head, glancing over their shoulder for any would-be attackers. "You will be. We can, um, we can find one of the medics. I'll keep us both safe."

you had maybe 3 lines but you will forever own my heart. you play a very minor role, one often forgotten about (not by me tho bby, i'll love you forever). however, your significance in the story is pretty big. something about you propels the story forward in a way no one else can do. you tend to blend into the background, and you probably like it that way. you want a simple life, free from the drama of the main characters. unfortunately, your story is almost always cut short. your role is usually a death that kickstarts the plot. going unnoticed did not save you, but it probably did bring you some peace of mind.
