The Current Situation of Supernatural Creatures
The poor, run down area that majority of the Faefolk live. Located in heart of London for easy access, but tucked away from those of proper status. The houses have been stitched together with whatever materials were around.
For those Fae that were unable to pay for transport away from their dying world, contract ships, from every corner of the first world, sailed to the Lonely Isles on a “rescue” mission. The ships offered safe passage to a new world, for the price of a certain number of years laboring. With no information on which country they were traveling to, or what they will do when they get there, many Fae waited in their homelands until it was too late and all the good offers were gone, and some even fell into the hands of pirates prepared to sell them for life.
These contracts are taken seriously by London, and many countries around the known world. Much information is taken on each Faefolk so that if anyone would ever try to run away from their contract, prices could easily put on their heads and country hunters dispatched. It is possible even for family members to be forced to take contracts from family members after they die.
Once Faefolk arrive on English shores, they are charged any lodgings and meager salaries to their contracts, adding even more time to their service. Carnival City is the shanty town that has risen from the heart of London to house these strange and unusual creatures, away from polite society. These contracts are usually for jobs of menial labor and servitude. Those who are lucky could even gain a position in houses of great status around London.
People were not the only things that were rushed away from the Old World, many magical beasts were corralled and caged and brought to the New World for sport. Closed hunting ground of these creatures are scattered across the countryside, for any gentleman who wish to try their hands at slaying one of these strange creatures. Others creatures are used at the whim of gangs and gamblers to perform circus acts or races. These cruel treatments are not limited to the beasts of the Old World, some Faefolk have also been made to fight in the pits for the pleasure (and money) of the English society.
The human world is a place of science, which is why it is so superior to any other species. With science comes sacrifice, but that sacrifice has the potential to bring about a new age. Upon orders of HRH Magistracy Queen Regina, Faefolk of all kind are to the studied in scientific detail to deem if they are a threat to humankind. These studies take the form of recovering ancient Fae artifacts from the Old World and displaying them to the polite human society, as well as preserving specimens and bones of descaled Faefolk.
