When Harry came home for the first month Lily was worried because Harry never cried at night. One night she woke up and found out that James had been watching over him and taking care of him while he slept so Lily didn't have to.
Remus was absolutely terrified of holding Harry as a baby so he avoided it as much as possible. Once he even pored hot coffee on his arm just so he didn't have to.

James and lily didn't die for the life Harry had, they died so he could live.
They didn't Die so he could spend his whole life fighting for others.
They died so he could grow up with sirius and remus. Being spoilt all year round and having the best childhood a boy could have. That's what they died for.
