𝓐fter what felt like a literal eternity of lounging about the bunker, it was safe to say that Star was absolutely bored out of her mind. Since both she and her wand had absolutely no magical properties, she had resorted to laying on her mattress and throwing the wand in the air and attempting to catch it in different awesome poses. After it fell on her face for maybe the thousandth time, the girl sat up with a disgruntled sigh. She took a quick glance around her desolate room before deciding to make her way to the living space. It was absolutely deserted, not to mention there was an absence of any good food. With her hand on a cabinet knob, the princess threw her head back with a groan before slamming the door shut. With nothing else to do, Star decided she would perhaps explore Eidolon– maybe the corner store that was nearby.
Cautiously, Star pushed the door open, causing the bell above the frame to give off a little jingle. The princess froze momentarily, gazing at the bell before opening and closing the door maybe three more times, earning a goofy chuckle, much to the chagrin of the owner. After locking eyes with the man, Star awkwardly let the handle go before scoping out the goods. The store was very similar to an Earth convenience store– aisles upon aisles in perfect little rows, the ends decorated with eye-catching candies and salty snacks.
Almost unconsciously, the young princess meandered down the first aisle that caught her eye; seasonal treats and breakfast foods. Eyes darted between foods before the princess came to an immediate halt, fixated on a single item. Mewni had been known for its abundance of special corn, but Earth food had a special place in Star’s heart… Especially… Captain Blanche’s Sugar Seeds. And here, right in front of her, in this weird frozen planet, there they were. Not just one box, but what looked like MAYBE a thousand. Okay, not really, but it sure felt that way.
Without a second thought, Star took a hold of as many she could possibly grab; they were under her arms, in her mouth, on her head, in her shirt, literally anywhere a box could fit. Meanwhile, she was making one heck of a mess with cereal boxes flying everywhere. If you didn’t know better, you would think she was using her magic, but no, she was just crazy.
Star didn’t even notice the woman come around the corner to catch a look at the commotion. When the princess finally caught a look at the queen in her peripheral vision, she froze, like a deer in the headlights, absolutely covered in cereal. This lady was giving off some serious mom vibes…
❝ …mmphmfmh? ❞
Whatever Regina had been expecting to see when she turned the corner, it was not a girl covered in cereal looking at her with more than a little bit of terror. She sighed and rolled her eyes, taking in the mess. Honestly, she was surprised the girl was still in the store and hadn’t already been kicked out, but she supposed that with the influx of new individuals in the area, herself included, there was to be a bit of lenience. Especially with immature children such as the girl in front of her. Perhaps such an assessment was a bit unfair, but, well, the girl most certainly wasn’t an adult, and she was fairly certain Henry had more maturity when he was eight than this girl was exhibiting.
“Quite the mess you’ve made” Regina noted, wishing, not for the first time since she had arrived in Eidolon (she wasn’t sure she’d made it a full hour, in all honesty. Sure she had gone without just fine in Storybrooke, but even then she had missed having it, and the technology and possessions she already had were there to compensate) that she still had her magic working reliably, so she could simply wave her hand and this mess would be all cleaned up. Alas, that was not the case which meant that, if she was going to help out, it would be by hand.
“I do hope you have the money to pay for all of that” she mused, knowing full well that she, currently, did not. She was a newcomer, after all. Oh, sure, she could help clean up with some difficulty, her current attire not at all suited to cleaning up cereal off floors, but...Why did she care in the first place? It wasn’t her business. Of course, she already knew the answer to that, didn’t she? Children would forever be her weak spot, it seemed. So, she stayed there, standing, and waiting for a response, idly hoping that whoever the current employees were wouldn’t be too bothersome about the situation. She hardly had her full skillset at her disposal, after all.
