y’all ever get mad thinking about how rich and expansive obx could’ve been. like the fact that the pogues (not just the MCs) are obviously a tight knit community (jj knowing that chef lady in s1, the celebration of john b’s freedom, any of jj’s interactions with members of the cut) who look after each other and word travels faster than light there but it’s wasted by the writers.

john b is supposedly loved by the cut but we barely see him interact with pogues outside of his friends and family (and barry and his teacher). show us him being a helper yk? maybe he’s known for his kindness or the way he stands up for people.

jj seems to be more of the cut’s IT boy. he knows everyone, has so many resources, and the courthouse riot speaks for itself. maybe he gives them hope, makes them believe that things could get better, lights the fire in them idk.

barry’s worked every job in the cut so he’s well known he’s probably got a long ass list of clients. rafe runs drugs for him but i know he’s not the only one, he’s probably his only kook runner but he definitely has pogues under his thumb. maybe girls that work at a strip club in the cut. maybe some of these girls are freshly 18, young, impoverished, and impressionable. maybe the older women tell them to watch out for certain guys. men that throw thousands around like it’s nothing. preppy assholes who scratch their nose too often.

the free john b on the stop sign and general elation when hes released, jj stealing the bat from the kids and they just react like this is some bullshit he does often, barry having ties with the pawn shop in the cut and its some nice old lady running it like the pogues as a community are so rich and layered i wish we got more of the underbelly of the cut!

thats why i focus so much on it in moonyverse bc theres no way there isnt a tightknit community of swers its a fucking island town depending on tourism. theres no way there arent completely different friend groups the boneyard isnt the only place ppl congregate theres got to be more!

AND ANOTHER THING even tho i ignore 90% of s4 a detail i loved is when they got the money and they started blowing it on other pogues. a $100 tip here, a $50 tip there just because. because they know they need it and thats the difference between choosing groceries or bills for the month

fumbled a perfectly good plot and from the trailers i thought that’s what it was gonna be. would’ve been the perfect opportunity to expand the world and go back to the foundations we got in s1. the difference between the kooks and pogues isn’t just class it’s unity.

giving back to their community as soon as they can was amazing but then they stopped there + jj’s courthouse riot like no give me more!

niggas was busting cop car windows to free jj and fucking looting the expensive stores they cant afford and diverting their attention away from where he was and cheering for him to get out that house and what do the kook do? why cant we explore the differences between how kelce and pope navigate being a black kook and pogue specifically? bc kelce participating in a lynch mob was actually insane fucking imagery

like ughhhhh im thinkin we’re going back to out roots of class warfare and the seedy shit baked into the island literally being a former fucking plantation. i always think about the heywards struggling to get by as the camerons live im a home that belongs to them. i think about how in the opening john b says the maybanks have been on the island almost as long as there has been one i think about the subtle mysticism that used to surprisingly ground the story in its own reality

we’re supposed to believe that they care enough about jj + don’t fuck with the kcpd enough to riot but we barely very any scenes where pogues outside of the main crew say anything anti-cop and every season the pogues interact with the cut less and less.

kelce as a character is such an interesting concept, rich black kid in a pwi but they wasted him cause they don’t care about their black characters. parallels between him and pope would’ve gone crazy

pope should’ve been allowed to burn tanneyhill down but that’s just me. he doesn’t get a single win these crackers either stole or destroyed everything that belongs to his family and he barely gets to crash out.

i forgot about the maybanks being one of the oldest families there.

kelce coulda been more if they remembered he was there. he seems so eager to be apart of kook culture i wanna know how wealthy his family is how long theyve been wealthy how hes contrasted with pope in how they navigate that because we dont see many black kooks but we see a wide range of diversity in the pogues

pope deserves the world and he never quite got his get back against rafe which is a shame like tannyhill….the cross….cecilias grave jesus christ

and the maybanks being there forever and still being that far below the poverty line? so much interesting shit coulda came from exploring jjs family that isnt him being a secret kook
