“Perfectly healthy,” she nodded, much to Regulus’s obvious relief.
“Thank you, Healer Browning,” Lucinda said with a smile. “So, the usual fortnight?”
“Yes, we’ll see you then,” she nodded, making a note of it on her clipboard before leaving the two in the room.Â

“So she’s alright?” Lucinda asked. “There’s nothing to worry about?”
“Perfectly healthy,” she nodded, much to Regulus’s obvious relief.

“And just to ease his mind, you’re sure there’s only one, right?” Lucinda asked the healer, clearly amused.
The healer laughed and nodded, Regulus rolling his eyes in response, “Thank Merlin.”
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“Let’s worry about getting this one out of me first,” she laughed, shaking her head.
“Fair enough,” he nodded.
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“Ari really didn’t want to be out numbered,” she tried not to laugh.
“We’ll just have to try again sometime for his sake then,” he rolled his eyes.
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“We’re having a little girl,” she whispered, excited.
“Cress is going to be so excited,” he grinned.
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“And here you were so sure,” she teased, beaming at him.
“Still,” he grinned, looking over at her, “It’s nice to know.”

“Another girl,” she shook her head, her smile wide. Turning her head to look at him, she brought her free hand to her cheek, wiping away a happy tear. “You were so right.”
“I can’t believe it,” he murmured, chuckling.

Lucinda laughed happily, shaking her head, “A girl,” she whispered. The healer nodded. “Definitely a girl.”Â
Regulus let out a soft laugh as Lucinda did, his smile growing at the confirmation. “We were right,” he murmured, pulling her hand up to kiss it softly. “We’re both right. Another girl.”

Waving her wand and casting a few nonverbal spells, the healer hummed. “Your vitals are good, and the baby’s heartbeat is strong.” Then, the sound of their baby’s heartbeat echoed in the room, and the trainee beside the healer continued to take notes. “We’re not waiting to find out the sex of the baby, yes?” She asked, to which Lucinda shook her head. “Then, I’m happy to report you’re having another girl. Congratulations.”Â
Regulus couldn’t help but let out a slight sigh of relief at the confirmation that the baby was healthy, especially given everything that had happened in the last few months. Giving Lucinda’s hand a small squeeze, his eyes widened at the news, “A-a girl? You’re certain?”

“I think so, yes,” she nodded, squeezing Reg’s hand, her next word directed at him. “Yeah?”
“I think so, yes,” he nodded, glancing between Luce and the healer.
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“Better,” she nodded, hesitating for a moment. “Yeah – better.”
“Good,” she nodded, while Regulus focused his gaze across the room. “Are we ready then?”
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“Usually only once a week or so,” she admitted with a nod.Â
The healer nodded, jotting that down on her notes. “And how about sleep? Is that better now?”
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
Moving to take his hand once he sat up, Lucinda gave the healer a smile, greeting her. “Good morning, Healer Browning.” Exchanging their usual pleasantries, she answered all the usual questions. “The nauseas finally gone away, which is amazing.
Regulus nodded politely in greeting to the healer, never one for really speaking to strangers when unnecessary. “You’re still having the occasional migraine though,” he added, knowing she wasn’t one to complain.

“I love you,” she said quietly, still just playing with his hair. Before she could say anything else, the door opened and the healer stepped inside, greeting them cheerily.Â
The moment Regulus heard the door start to open, he immediately sat up and masked any and all emotion from his face that he didn’t feel appropriate for an onlooker, instead giving the healer a polite smile as she entered.Â
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“Reg,” she frowned, shaking her head. “I knew exactly what I was doing when I decided to be with you. I knew what you were involved with, I knew what position I was putting myself in. I put myself in danger, that’s not on you. And – if it were reversed you would take care of me.”
“Okay,” he said quietly, focusing on her steady breathing as he moved his head back to her stomach. Â
lucindaleonoratalkalot​:
“We are fine with just us,” she agreed, “but we could always make it better. If we wanted to.”
“You came from your family,” she said quietly. “And I happen to think you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” he replied, his voice a bit harsher than before, “I may as well be the worst. All I’ve ever done is put you in danger and harm’s way. You’ve hardly slept in six months and it’s all because of me.”
