"Ugh, I am never getting drunk again”
"That's what everyone says, though, isn't it?"
For me, being able to be vulnerable is difficult, but it’s just something that I feel comfortable doing. I need to fully understand why, the thought-process behind the character and I have to believe it. That comes from a lot of preparation.
“So, where’ve you been this whole time? Well, that is if you can tell.”
"You should know that I can't," he joked, grinning a bit. What've you been up to while I've been out?"
Task 2 Questions
1. What is your full name?
Regulus Arcturus Black
2. What are your parents names?
Orion and Walburga
3. What is your blood status?
Pureblood, obviously
4. How old are you and what is your date of birth?
I'm 16 - my birthday's 19th January
5. What is your favorite subject?
I suppose Charms or Transfiguration - the basic magic is easy enough to make the class itself better than, say, Potions or Herbology.
6. What is your least favorite?
History of Magic - I know plenty of important wizarding history already, not to mention that class is as dull as it's possible for a class to be.
7. What is your favorite spell?
Hmm... I don't have any particular spell that I prefer, I just use whatever is necessary in the situation.
8. What is your favorite memory at Hogwarts?
Cliche as it may be, I'll never forget the first time I saw the castle in person.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Spending time with Sirius whenever we wanted, without having to worry about what people thought of us or how our actions would affect our futures.
10. Who is your best friend?
Friends aren't exactly one of my specialties, and I like it that way.
11. How is your relationship with your parents?
Much better than Sirius' relationship with them (though that's not saying much). It is what it is. Our family dynamic isn't the same as a lot of other families, but it's not always a bad thing, I s'ppose.
12. Are you currently in a relationship or have you ever been in one? Have you ever been in love?
I haven't been in any serious relationships, but it's easier to avoid getting attached in this sort of way.
13. Describe yourself in ten words or less.
Ten or less? How do you even describe people accurately? 'Regulus Black,' is that good enough for you?
14. Who is your role model?
I find it hard to have a role model, honestly. If anything, I find individual traits more inspiring than the people who possess those traits.
15. If you could go back and change one thing about your life. What would if be and why?
I would have been closer with Sirius up until he left, and kept up our relationship as long as I could. I do miss him.
“Of course,” Ivana paused for a moment, “But really was I supposed to?”
Regulus narrowed his eyes at her before raising and eyebrow and pulling another smirk over his grin. "Of course," he repeated, a shadow of his grin breaking through.
"Bet you missed me, didn't you?" Regulus asked, smirking a bit as he settled into a chair.
Amelia exited Slug & Jiggers Apothercary and sighed. She needed Clabbert pustules for a potion, but they had run out and wouldn’t have them for another two weeks. She would have to try a…less reputable shop. As she reached the passageway to Knockturn Alley, she looked behind her, hoping no one was paying her any attention. When she heard a voice in front of her, she stopped before recognizing the speaker as the younger Black. “I need potions ingredients,” she responded, hoping she didn’t sound too defensive.
Regulus crossed his arms expectantly, raising an eyebrow at Amelia. "Potions ingredients, really? Is that the best excuse you could come up with? I'm just surprised," he remarked. "I didn't think I'd ever catch you down here..." Reg's lip curled into a smirk - he doubted she would come to Knockturn Alley by choice, knowing how she was, but it was fun playing with her like this, wondering how far he'd be able to push it.
"The fact you just said you wanted peace, and I don’t plan on leaving until you play nice and cough up."
"I could always leave."
Um.. yeah {he said, clumsily getting to his feet} School… I um, I-I think we might have been in a class together before.
Regulus shot him a scrutinizing look. "Yeah, I think I have seen you around." He sighed lightly as he continued, "So what brings you out here?"
Moira didn’t reply to Regulus’ first question, as she was too busy picking the bags up from the ground. She was struggling a bit, her hands being so full, and she nearly dropped some more onto the ground. Thankfully, she was able to keep them in her hands. “I wouldn’t say you know me, exactly, but we do go to the same school,” she said when she had gotten all the bags in order.
Regulus watched her struggle a bit with her bags. Part of him considered helping her, but before he really even thought about it, she had gotten it all under control. "Well, no, but I've seen you around, that counts for something, doesn't it?" he said, a bit of a smirk playing at his lips.
Oh um.. sorry. {He looks up and recognizes him as a Slytherin in his year. Not wanting to make him mad, Tilden moves out of the way quickly. In his rush to get out of the way, he trips over his own feet.}
Regulus shot him a weird look as he fell. "Watch it," he muttered. Then, recognizing his face, added, "I know you from somewhere, don't I?"
Moira was standing outside the shop, trying to organize all the bags she was carrying. She was having some trouble, which was why she didn’t see Regulus before he was right in front of her. “Oh, sorry,” she replied, moving a little to the side, allowing him to walk by, but then dropping a couple of bags in the process.
"Got enough bags there?" he replied, smirking. He watched her pick up her fallen bags, but couldn't actually enter the shop yet because they were in his way. "Do I know you?" he asked. She looked somewhat familiar from Hogwarts, but he couldn't quite place her name.
Regulus was in Hogsmeade alone that afternoon. He went to enter the shop to his left, but noticed someone blocking his way. "You're going to have to move," he said, hardly in the mood to deal with anyone right now.
Falling to pieces / Emma & Regulus
Eyeing Regulus skeptically, Emma pressed her lips together in a tight line. Did she want to stop being awkward? Yes, yes she did. Her small talk was doing a pitiful job at chasing away the storm clouds currently making themselves at home in her head, but going back to how it was easier said than done. She’d been doing so well at ignoring her problems but he’d gone and brought them all to the surface and Emma was finding it difficult to shove them back into the locked box from which they had appeared. Still, the way they had been before was better than the way they were now. Regulus was giving her away out of an awkward situation that didn’t involve compromising her pride. It was better tgan tge alternative, Emma figured, allowing herself to relax ever so slightly. Her cold mask slowly changed into a much warmer, yet slightly wary expression as she dropped her pureblood demeanour. “Fine,” she said softly, deciding to let Regulus lead the conversation and decide what they did next.
Regulus noticed how Emma's expression lightened considerably at his suggestion to move on, and he smiled. Perhaps they may never be best of friends, but they were getting closer to each other, and he couldn't say he hated this.
Reg glanced at his watch. "Shit," he whispered. "I told my mother I'd be home by now...I should get going." Then, meeting Emma's eyes, he added, "See you around then?" before heading off back home.
Falling to pieces / Emma & Regulus
Part of Emma regretted allowing her temper to get the better of her. Regulus wasn’t someone Emma would call a friend, per se, but his company was certainly far more enjoyable than wallowing in her own angst. At least it had been, until she ruined it. Emma regretted her actions somewhat, as she had liked how things had been going before her defensive walls snapped back into place. Not that she would ever admit that it was she who essentially ruined it - of course, if pressed Emma would find a way to pin the blame on Regulus. She was far too proud to ever admit to being in the wrong. Just like she was far too proud to actually rectify the situation, no matter how much she might want to.
The cold tone of his voice stung, just a little, but Emma made sure her somewhat haughty mask didn’t slip. Instead, she merely rolled her eyes at his challenge. Never was she one to turn a challenge down - her pride didn’t allow it - but today she was struggling. What did she want to talk about? Honestly, not much. All she could come up with was small talk topics which were just pathetic. Still, if it kept her mind off her future than small talk it was. “What do you think Slytherin’s chances of winning the cup this year are?” she smirked, fully expecting Slytherin to win. 6th year had been hard for Emma - she’d been forced to hand over the reigns of her team, who Emma had poured her heart and soul into being it’s Captain, to Lucinda on her parents orders because her grades hadn’t been good enough. Emma couldn’t deny that Lucinda was a good captain, but her own bitterness and pride prevented her from accepting it. At the end of the day, Emma would always think of herself as the better captain, and no amount of facts would change that.
He felt how weak the topics she brought up were. But she, of course, would turn to Quidditch for a distraction. "Yeah, I'm sure we've got a good chance."
Regulus could feel the atmosphere drop perceptibly from where it'd been before, and he didn't really want the conversation to die out. Emma certainly wasn't a close friend of his, or 'friend' at all really, but they were getting on pretty well earlier, and he'd enjoyed it.
"Look, why don't we just move on. Like that didn't even happen," Regulus said, watching Emma's eyes while waiting for a response. Though her mask was so well constructed, masking her emotions, it was in her eyes where you could see her true feelings just a bit. "We can go back to how it was earlier... if you'd like."
"Why not?"
"I don't really see you as someone who'd be walking around down here, is all. You here for a reason, I'm assuming?"
