The cool stone corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry echoed with a lone student’s footsteps as he ran towards the dungeons. He was nine minutes late, and Professor Slughorn detested tardiness. He meekly opened the door and scampered into his seat, taking his ten-point deduction silently. Noting the directions on the board, he gathered the necessary ingredients and hurriedly started on his assignment. He loosened his tie and rolled up the sleeves of his robes.
Perhaps, had Slughorn paid more attention to his students and less to his box of candied pineapple, disaster could have been averted that day. But heedless of what might have been, the sixth year student tried hastily and recklessly to catch up with the rest of the class. The addition of the hippogriff’s feather came three minutes and five counter-clockwise stirs too early. A fantastic explosion ensued, flaring brightly with a burst of pure white light.
When the students slowly picked themselves off the floor, they dusted off their jeans and glared at the cowering offender. A few of the girls had whipped out their cell phones, texting furiously as they eyed the boy. Professor Slughorn sighed and deducted a further fifteen points from him before waving his wand and clearing up the leftover potion.
With wands in their jeans and smartphones in their hands, the characters are living in the modern age. Imagine what your character would act like if they lived at Hogwarts with social media just a tap away. Would they join sites, such as youtube, twitter, facebook, and the like? What kind of music would they listen to? This is a three (3) week long task, so have fun with writing paras, gif chats and making graphics.
