them in the bed, the day shane signed with ottawa centaurs, facing each other and smiling, and giggling and giving heart eyes for each other. and then it hit them and they start to tearing up cus well now they don’t have to count the days and hours of being together, they don’t have to say goodbye no more. they can have this, every night. they can wake up together, eat together, practice together, traveling together and playing together. everyday, after so many years yearning for this. and now they’re facing each other in their bed and silent tears is coming down but they can’t stop smiling. and ilya asks with choked up voice “it’s real, yes?” and shane just closes the distance and kisses his face all over and whispers “yes, and it’s forever”

them coming home after shane’s first practice with ottawa centaurs, they barely walked through the door and were already hugging and crying, ugly crying. them showering together, hugging and also crying. them heating the prepped meal for the day and eating next to each other and also crying. and then cuddling up in the couch, watching a movie, with ilya laying on shane’s chest and shane stroking ilya’s hair and also crying. they just can’t believe all this is real. they can have this the domesticity, the world knowing about their relationship and they still have hockey. not even ilya and shane’s wildest dream they’ve thought this could be true and it is, it’s their reality now and they’re not alone, they have support and people loving them.

Ilya and Shane in their honeymoon and Ilya drags Shane out to dance every time they pass a venue or a street performer playing music. Shane tries to refuse the first few times but Ilya always says “we can do it now, please, let’s dance together in public” but Shane would dance with him even if he hadn’t said anything. Shane can’t deny Ilya a single thing.

Ilya gets over his nicotine addiction no problem, but what he really can’t let go of is his addiction to cigarettes making him look cool as hell, and like five years into their marriage Shane finds Ilya “chain smoking” candy cigarettes in their backyard at 3am like a fucking animal and Shane just goes “…I feel like this is actually worse somehow.”

okay but for sure baby shane on his first hockey team got to play on the ice during an intermission at a centaurs game in the 90s. he scored a goal and did a cute little celebration jump (and immediately lost his balance and fell on his butt). harris pulls the clip from somewhere deep in the centaurs archive. he makes an insta post after shane's first game with the cens and includes the video with a caption about tonight being shane hollander's second ever centaurs goal.

ilya just barely manages to keep himself from sobbing in delight at the video.

A summer barbecue at the Hollander-Rozanov cottage, where Ilya and Troy are entertaining the Pike kids in the lake. After a while, the Pikelings get cold and hungry so they come out of the water to eat some of the hot dogs Mr. “Please-Call-Me-David” Hollander grilled just for them.

Ilya and Troy stay in the water for another hour or so, still playing Mermaids like Ruby and Jade taught them.

Meanwhile, Shane and Harris sit on the porch, drinking Drover Farms Cider, and smile at each other quietly. They’re both so glad that their husbands are finding ways to reclaim their childhoods, after being taken from them too soon.
