The Ship Has Set Sail For The Last Time // Reid&Coralia
The sound of running and loud noises caused Coralia’s body to jerk, she swung around as she dropped the berries in her right hand. “Reid?” Her voice came a little too loudly for her own comfort as she turned on her heel and began to sprint around the corner, her eyes wide and adrenaline soaring. Perhaps it had been nothing, but she had to be sure. The second Coralia rounded the final corner to where she had left Reid, she realized splitting up to look for food had been a terrible idea on their part. For a moment she was frozen, but the second the brunette heard the figure on the ground utter her name she snapped back to focus.
“Reid!” Coralia hollered, not bothering to check for any danger before running over and kneeling next to him as she stared at the blood that pooled from his chest. There was nothing she could do, no way that she could save him now. “You’re okay… you’re fine.” She told him in a high and commanding voice, trying to comfort him in any way that she could as she carefully smoothed his hair back from his face in a motherly manner. But as much as she wanted to assure him, she knew that his wounds were not fixable.
He had been so concerned for his mother, who would surely be watching now as her son was slowly dying on television, unable to prevent his death or even protect him any longer. She was sure that all of Panem would be watching now, intrigued by the new bloodshed and she suddenly felt disgusted and sick, training her whole life for something like this. “She’s proud of you, Reid.” Coralia told him hoarsely, the brunette suddenly fell quiet at a loss for words as she stared at her dying district partner. Her hands went up to the locket around her neck, removing it quickly with her trembling hands and snapping it around his own.
All he could do was stare back at his district partner as the blood filled his lunges and air was barely entering his body. It wasn't suppose to happen like this. He was suppose to win and go home to his mother. Now she was left with a dead husband and son.
Tears started to fall down his face as he listened to Coralia speak. She was in a panic as well. They were the only thing each other had left from home and now they would be separated. "Cor I'm not okay. Listen win it," he took in another sharp breath, "I know you can do it."
He coughed and struggled for air. This must be how the fish he caught on his uncle's fishing boat felt. Slowly dying and gasping for breath, not being able to do anything about it.
“She’s proud of you, Reid.”
He smiled, "I know," tears were still slowly flowing down his face. "Love ya Ma and you to Cor."
He felt Coralia put her locket around his neck as it joined with the one his mother gave to him.
He was now just going to be another statistic in these games. Another child who lost their life for something that happened years ago.
As he looked at Coralia someone else appeared behind her. It was a boy about a year older than himself and looked like he could be his brother. But it wasn't another tribute, well at least a living one. It was his dad.
"Dad?"
That was Reid Riverton's last word. His eyes glazed over, fixed upon a point just to the right of Coralia's face. He was gone. The 17 year old would never return home and feel his mother's loving hug or kisses. He would never grow old with children of his own or feel the warmth of the sun after swimming in the ocean. He was dead, never to return.
When you try your best but you don't succeed When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you
song to go along with Reid's death para with Coralia
The Ship Has Set Sail For The Last Time // Reid&Coralia
Reid was not going to win. As soon as the spear entered his chest it was done. His lung was punctured and he would be dead in minutes.
All he could think about was how his mother was going to be all alone and would have to watch another of her loved ones die because of the games.
Topaz had walked away but Reid heard the rush of another tributes feet.
"Coralia?" he wheezed out.
R.I.P
And The Waves Will Crash Among Golden Shores
It didn’t take long for the less than brief interaction to erupt into a full fledged battle. Reid wasted no time lunging himself forward, clearly taking note of the sole disadvantage that Topaz had - he was smaller than the other careers. His frame was thin and gangly, interlaced with muscles of course, but not as physically built as the boy from four. The attack was the perfect execution to gaining the upper hand. But what Topaz’s gazed picked up on was the trick that he held up his sleeve - a spear.
Yet, such a weapon didn’t matter as Reid’s body collided with his own, both crashing to the hard ground. Topaz’s skull thumped against the mixture of concrete and rubble, his vision blurring once again - a parallel to his prior encounter with Talon. The bump that had formed on Topaz’s head roared with agony, a heated wave of pain surging through the tissues of his brain. “Fucking hell,” he hissed through his teeth, his lids slamming shut as he waited for his sight to recuperate.
Topaz wasn’t in a good predicament.
He needed to escape and fast.
The younger of the two stared at Reid, his eyes shifting to the brick that was clutched in his palm, preparing to strike. Topaz couldn’t afford to take the hit. He forced his thoughts to accumulate - concoct a solution in the heat of the situation.
“Fancy meeting this way, isn’t it?” Topaz chuckled, a grin wiping across his expression as an idea struck him. “But unfortunately, my plan is to kill you and I intend to finish the job.”
Curling his leg, Topaz jerked his knee forward into Reid’s groin, ramming with as much force as he could draw into the sensitive area. Being a guy himself, he knew how much this would hurt, but Topaz wasn’t anywhere near the definition of sorry.
Using the pain to his advantage, Topaz shoved Reid off of him, scrambling to gather his spear that had flown out of his grasp upon impact.
Right in the crotch. The pain hit Reid instantly. No matter how strong you are, if you're a man and you get hit there you go down instantly.
Trying to recover fast he sucked in his breath and tried to fight the pain. What a cheap move. Obviously these games aren't meant to be fair but he could at least fight like a man.
Watching the other career go for his spear, Reid knew he had to act fast.
He grabbed the boys ankle he seemed to be easing up on and pulled. Topaz fell instantly, face planting to the ground, "Hope that tasted good!"
Reid took the opportunity to climb on Topaz again and go for the spear.
This was his last hope. If he got the spear he could kill the other career and continue on to win.
Haynes.
i didnt make it
And The Waves Will Crash Among Golden Shores
The fire had obliterated the arena to bits. If it wasn’t for Talon’s quick thinking, more than likely Topaz would be dead - not that he’d reveal such a thing to the tribute from masonry. He didn’t need the other gaining a boost in ego or viewing Topaz as a useless ally. For Topaz would offer all that was necessary for them to survive until their mutual agreement disbanded or one of the boys perished to the odds.
And now, it was time for Topaz to prove his worth.
Taking only his spear, the tattooed youth set out in search for any remaining bushels of food. But so far, the arena was bare - once healthy plants burned to ash, and if they hadn’t been completely wiped out, fallen walls splattered the berries to bits. Topaz needed to discover not only a decent meal, but also another source of water, since resources were scarce.
He traveled for quite a while, hearing nothing aside from the shuffling of his feet and the occasional crinkle left over from a gust of wind. His ears were perked, fingers clutched around his weapon for precautionary measures. His pupils shifted from one side to the other, desperately hoping that some kind of relief would appear.
Suddenly, Topaz caught glimpse of a shadow, his body coming to a halt. His gaze narrowed in on the target and it was then that his mouth grew engulfed in a cheeky grin.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?”
The arena was tough. After the fire almost everything had been burned to nothing. Rubble was everywhere and 2 more tributes were dead, 13 were left.
Coralia and Reid decided to split up and look for food. They planned to rendezvous in 10 minutes.
Walking down a charred path, Reid had a brick in hand. A trident is really what he needed right now. Dustin was clearly sleeping or something because neither Reid or Coralia had gotten anything from him since they entered the arena.
Finally spotting some water, he was about to crouch down for a quick drink when he heard someone.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?”
It was Topaz, the male tribute from District 1. Of course Reid just had to run into another career. He couldn't just have ran into the small boy from 11.
He knew Topaz didn't want an alliance and Reid didn't want have one with him. The only person he was aligning with was Coralia.
The other career had an upper hand though, a spear. How did he get a sponsor?
Reid knew his only chance was to use his brute strength on the smaller framed career. Not bothering to reply he took his chance and charged full force at the boy.
The one on one training he had with Dustin was actually coming in handy. He knocked Topaz to the ground and sat on top of him. Raising the brick in his hand he readied it to swing down and bash in the boys head, hopefully ending his life.

Taking On This Rough Sea Together // Reid&Coralia
With the second day in the arena ticking away, combined with the lack of a canon ensured that Panem would be more than hungry for bloodshed. This is the only thing that kept Coralia’s drowsy senses on top alert, being sure that the gamemakers would be attempting to cause some sort of excitement or slaughter. The sun was mid way through setting overhead, giving her the impression that she must be walking west; but that didn’t really mean much to her in this giant maze where she was walking towards nothing.
A small rustling could barely be made out over the hedges, sounding quite a ways away. However, as Coralia fixed her posture and began to listen more intensively it sounded as if the noise was getting closer. Great, someone or something was coming towards her, and it sounded fast. The brunette didn’t back away, but instead quickly made her way around the next bend towards the noise. Perhaps she would have the element of surprise to her advantage, as she knew she could easily kill even without the stone knife in her pocket with her current level of adrenaline that was coursing through her veins.
Her heartbeat could be head in her ears as the person began to get closer and she prepared herself to grab them, if luck was on her side they would be untrained or maybe even smaller than her. But as the noises progressed she realized whatever was coming towards her was running as if their life depended on it. And it probably did. She made her way around the corner curiously and her eyes locked not on the brown haired and strongly built male, but on the fireball behind him. Shit.
“What the hell!” The brunette hissed upon impact, falling backwards just to be squashed by the weight of someone else. With her eyes scrunched tightly closed, she managed to cover her face as she waited for the heat of the fireball to engulf both of them entirely; or for whoever was beside her to deliver the final blow as she was rendered basically helpless. When the burning sensation of pain didn’t come after a few long moments, Coralia’s bright eyes opened; shoving at the person who had basically saved her life. Ready to show Panem what she was capable of and to ensure no one would doubt that this girl which had scored only a mere seven had the acquired taste to kill without a glance.
‘Get up and face me.’ Coralia was instantly on her feet, her eyes met not the cold ones of a heartless tribute, but instead the familiar sea-like of her district partner. She felt his arms around her and paused for a moment before shoving at him. “You scared me to death!” The brunette hissed, an almost motherly tone to her voice as she narrowed her eyes at the male before she stepped forward, forcing him into her embrace again. “Jesus Christ Reid, Thank God.” The tribute whispered under her breath, “are you alright?”
"Sorry Cor," he still held on to his district partner, "Yeah, I'm fine. I see you are too," he laughed.
With the sun setting they were both obviously not tired following the whole fire ball situation so they decided on heading back the way Reid came from, regardless of the boobietrap.
They spent Day 3 of the arena gathering berries and whatever other odds and ends they could use as weapons. Both were hoping to be sponsored soon. What was Dustin doing? Briella was obviously out of the picture, so he hopefully was finding them some. Not quick enough though.
As Day 3 came to a close they saw the face of a boy neither of them knew flash into the sky. 15 were left. This time last games only 11 were still standing. The gamemakers probably had something in store.
Both being tired and drained, they decided to take turns sleeping. Each having about 3 hours rest before the other would wake them and take their place. They had already passed the place where Reid had started and took up camp in a heavier grove of bushes.
Reid's suspicions came true in the morning when he was on his 3rd awake shift. The sky was suddenly filled with smoke and he could feel the heat of flames again, "Coralia get up now!!," he yelled while shaking her awake. Before she could even fully wake up he had her on her feet and running, he grabbed as many of their supplies as possible before following behind her.
The gamemakers must be laughing now, 'Let's have the sea goers of district 4 feel some heat.'
Taking On This Rough Sea Together // Reid&Coralia
Day 2 was coming to a close and no canons had sounded since the initial bloodbath.
Reid didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand it brought him closer to victory but on the other hand, kids were losing their lives.
Back on his feet walking he was still wondering where his "friends" were. He wanted to find at least one soon. Even though they would be his ally, everyone turned into an enemy soon enough. Only one would return home.
Throwing a couple berries into his mouth, he wished for nothing more but a decent meal. His mother was probably sitting down for dinner right now, if she hadn't lost her mind yet.
His poor mother, Marina. First her husband, Reid's father Finn, was in the arena and lost his life and now she would have to watch her only child fight to live as well. He ran the single pearl on the necklace she gave him between his fingers again.
"I hope your still with me dad," he thought to himself, "Give me the strength to-." His thoughts were suddenly cut off. His foot sunk into the ground and he heard this weird clicking noise and suddenly a huge light emerged from behind him. It was a fireball.
Taking off running he used as much strength and agility he could to get away from it. Of course it wasn't going to be this easy. The gamemakers weren't just going to have them kill each other. They needed more entertainment.
He could feel the heat behind him.
He had been running for what felt like half an hour, when suddenly he collided with something. Wait, it wasn't a thing. It was a person.
He didn't care who it was he laid on top of them until the fireball flew over their heads and hit the adjacent wall.
Getting to his feet quickly he prepared the brick and branches. Hopefully this person didn't have better weapons.
"Get up and face me," as the person stood though he realized who it was, Coralia.
"Oh my god Coralia," he didn't care that they should be killing each other, he ran up and hugged her. Regardless, she was the only person from home he had.
Traveling The Paths of Confusion
Of course there was no ocean or at least river. There was no advantages for any district, that Reid could tell, in these games.
He spent the entire first day walking. He ate the berries the were in the bushes and drank from the small stream of water that he would occasionally find.
Finally when it became night time, he waited long enough to see the fallen. The 8 faces flashed in the sky followed by the Capitol anthem. 8 families would be weeping at home, soon it would be 23.
Using his common sense he didn't sleep out in the open like most probably were. He found a deep enough set of bushes and secured himself inside. Making sure he was not seen.
Waking up in the morning he set off again.
It was eerie how quiet everything was. From what he could tell they were in a maze. He didn't know how big it was but tributes obviously hadn't found each other yet.
He still had bricks in hand and a few branches he broke off the bushes. They weren't much but if anything he could choke someone with the branches if he got the chance or beat them with a brick.
He kept walking and the whole time he kept vigilant.
A tribute could run up from behind or in front of him at any time. He had to be ready.
He must of walked about 18 hours in total within the two days, it was non-stop except for when he slept the first night.
Where was Coralia or the other tributes he had befriended?
Allies were a must, especially with your district partner. Coralia was a good fighter. Maybe she had gotten a sponsor already. If not they would at least helpful to each other.
He would just need to find her first.
