Using Lean Six Sigma Principles to Improve Communications Process
With a career spanning nearly three decades, Reid Walker based in Washington, DC. wrote an article on how lean six sigma can help improve communications in a corporate environment. Titled, âCommunications Process Improvement Through Lean Six Sigma,â Mr. Walker highlighted the imminent need for communications executives to master the use of data in their communication strategies in a way that is similar to how CEOs and other senior management leaders operate to achieve business results. As communications executivesâ roles expand with geographically diverse issues, there will come a time when the only way to satisfy stakeholders is to adopt a data-driven approach to communications. To improve communications, focusing on efficiency (lean) and improving quality (six sigma) is a valid solution to drive excellence in the field. While lean six sigma does not directly influence creativity among communications executives, it paves the way for better communication strategies by concentrating on reducing process inefficiencies, thereby saving people money and time.
