Namastรฉ,My apologies for the delayed response.Good questions.>>Do you think the vedic literature was written because every person who understood the stories in the stories would realise what life is about?Vedic stories exist for two reasons:1. For Realisation of Bhagavan (God/the-Absolute). If one truly understands even one small phrase contained in these stories, then one realises Bhagavan at that very moment.2. For enjoyment of Realised Souls.Life is about realising Bhagavan, and nothing else.>>How does one get his monkey mind to stop wandering?Every time the mind wanders, put it back to the Source. All spiritual practices (sadhana) exist only for the attainment of this Goal.In the path of love (Bhakti), the mind focuses externally on Bhagavan incessantly. In the path of knowledge (Jnana), the mind focuses internally on the Atma (often translated as โthe Selfโ in English, though I do not agree with the translation, because there is no English word for Atma) incessantly.Bhagavan is the Universal Spirit, the Absolute, the Supreme - all that is, is Bhagavan (Saguna Brahma); and all that is not is also Bhagavan (Nirguna Brahma).Atma is Bhagavan living within every being. There is no difference between Bhagavan and Atma, just different ways of perception/understanding of the same Reality, the same Universal Truth.Jai Ma.
