corvidmagicae:
Bridgette’s head would tilt at the other, with a flicker of curiosity in her eyes, before giving a light nod in response. The man’s response was by no means unusual - if anything, it was to be expected. Pleasantries, and all.
“Mm, it is rather dreary, isn’t it?”
The witch’s head would tilt up to look at the sky, catching the eye of one of the rooftop crows before rolling back down in a silent signal, as she turned back to the bystander - stop crowding, it looks suspicious.
But regardless of the reason for choosing this particular path, she did look unconcerned. If anything, at ease in the dreary weather. These alleyways were dangerous, yes. And she’d certainly found herself in the wrong place, at the wrong time, quite a few times before - but those punks would have quickly found out that she was not the one in danger. Some of her birds could attest to that.
“These streets can be a bit rough, but they’ve got yet to impress me.”
The witch would give a light scoff, but an unmistakable nod, stepping aside to let the other continue down his path. Or perhaps join her, if he so fancied. For all she knew, they were going along the same path.
But it was only a matter of time until it started raining, and the last thing she wished to do was get her feathers wet. Finding shelter would likely be in both of their best interests.
“The winds aren’t howling yet, but that’s only a matter of time. Did you have a destination in mind? I know these alleys well, though the places open ‘round this time are,. ah… favored by the less than savory type.”
“Less than savory type?”Giovanni repeated the phrase with a bemused tone. The former criminal let out a dry chuckle as a cocky grin crossed his face. “So it would seem.” At least the woman wasn’t completely clueless. Still, he motioned for the girl to lead the way.
It wasn’t like he had any ill wishes or intents towards the woman. He just found the fact that she had unwittingly pegged the kind of person he was so perfectly that it was amusing.
He supposed that could have been a warning, but if that was the case, he only thought it ironic given his history with dark alleyways and secret back streets. After all, he had once been in a position where he would attack others on the streets for just a few dollars for something to eat. Later they would prove to be a discreet place to punish his subordinates when he didn’t want to dirty the carpet. Not that he was about to admit that aloud.
Of course, the comment could go the other way as well. Maybe he woman was leading him to a more discreet location so that she could attack and rob him. However, if that was supposed to be a thinly veiled threat, he took it as more of a challenge than anything. And it was not one that he minded facing at all.
“I’m a trainer. I don’t exactly have a destination in mind these days.” Giovanni answered after a moment’s consideration. “I just let myself end up wherever my legs are willing to take me. But still, I would rather not be caught outside in the rain, if it can be helped. It’s not exactly my element so to speak.”
Tilting his head to the side, he gave the woman a sideways glance. “What about you? What brings you out here on a day like this? You would probably be better of heading home for now instead of helping a stranger like me.”
