Casual reminder that in the Pokemon Universe, a ten year old is able to go gallivanting off and do as they wish without the company of their parents and that they, alone, are responsible for their actions. They are urged to go through this “right” by choosing a Pokemon as their partner and then to go and battle other Pokemon in hopes of finding a place for themselves in the world. Atop that, some even face hardships and “evil Organization” uprisings and, sometimes, have to defend themselves and fight for their very lives.
They are ten. They are supposedly just a child and yet they’re given the rights of adults. In fact, in the Pokemon universe they are considered adults because they’re suppose to be able to handle themselves. Their mentality might still be that of a child but they are cast into the role of an adult and have to face reality at an early age.
At the age of ten, you stop being a child and start being an adult.
