There is no reason for my fics or myself to be mentioned/discussed/recommended, etc. Especially without asking first (and further especially when it’s a private discord that I am not apart of). If any of my writing existed on a private discord prior to May 2022, I request it be removed immediately, as I revoke any permission for it to be hosted there in any way.

I operate under the fandom rules "don't like, don't read" and "if our opinions on something in fandom don't align, then walk away without causing undo drama or discourse, because that's a waste of time and just makes everyone look bad." If people do not like or agree with my opinions or decisions in my writing, please hit the back button and move on. Your opinion is not wanted. If you are planning on sending any drama and/or harassment my way, I will simply report and delete it without comment. I don't engage in pointless fandom drama for the sake of fandom drama.

My inbox is currently open for conversation. Please keep respectful when sending messages. Yes, I will answer most things, even though I am still on my hiatus. Anonymous questions will be on a case by case basis, depending on subject matter.

Hello to 2024

This has been a long time coming.

Today I posted what I'm pretty sure will be my final fanfiction.

Choosing to walk away from writing fanfiction is a hard one. For 22 years, I've been consciously writing fanfiction (though I was coming up with stories as early as age five, just not knowing what to call it). I've been active in fandom for that long as well. It seems so weird to shut the door on it, but it's necessary.

I'm stepping away for my mental health. For the past 18 months, I have realized just how destroyed I was getting, with the worst of it being in February. This caused me to question why I even tried, to destroy friendships I'd built up, and to come close to just trashing it all. When I realized just how toxic things were getting for myself, I knew something had to give.

Writing fanfiction was what kept me in fandom, and that became the problem. To move on, to move forward, I have to shut that door.

So I am.

To be clear, I'm not deleting any of my work. It's going to sit on AO3 as it is. I may return to work on my TOG/CM series, but that depends on a variety of factors, and that won't be any time soon.

I wanted to take a moment to thank anyone who has ever read any of my fics for the past 22 years. The kind comments and kudos have been what has helped me continue to want to write, and what encouraged me to walk away with my head held high. To those that have reached out to me, either here on or discord, thank you as well. I appreciated every word, even when I slowly stepped away the last few months when things got bad in my head again (I also apologize for that, please understand it was me, not you.)

I'm moving on, and I'm moving forward. I've let the past 18 months destroy me, and now I'm done. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone after all, so I'm going to take tomorrow to make it my own.

#leaving fanfiction

Hey everyone.

It's been a while, a lot longer than I had planned for sure. I figured I'd be back in March or April at the latest, but here it is in the middle of June.

I'm gonna keep this kinda short, only because I've tried typing this out several times over the past few weeks and it just turns into a trauma dump that no one wants to see. When I went on my hiatus in February, I did so because my mental health was starting to get out of hand. While I'm in a much better place than I was back in February, I've had to make some hard decisions, ones that I've done so I can continue to heal and move forward.

First and foremost, I've stepped back from most of my social media outside of private ones. This has greatly helped me, even as I was slowly easing my way back. That will include tumblr, which will soon be (somewhat anyway) locked down for only writing related things. I don't plan on using this much, but I'm not going to delete the account and let the url go, only because I don't want someone to pick it and end up getting blamed for something that should be directed at me.

Second, this concerns AO3 and my fanfic. If you check my AO3 account, you'll see that all of my fic are now Archive-locked. This won't be changing. I have four more fics I want to write and complete, and those will be Archive-locked after a week. I may unlock the fics that are in the same series for that week, but I haven't made a firm decision yet. Once those four fics are finished, I will be taking a break from writing, as I haven't felt the drive to write in months. If I do return to writing, specifically fic writing, I will be using a new account and a new penname.

Finally, concerning fandom as a whole, I have chosen to completely step away for my mental health and safety. I don't feel comfortable detailing my reasons why, just know that I have them and there is a very good reason for me keeping my mouth shut on this. To those that continue to spread positivity in fandom, thank you. You're the reason I stuck around as long as I have.

To my followers and mutuals, I'm sorry to slip away like this, but I have to prioritize myself. I'll still be around, just not on here or AO3. I just... I have to put myself first for once, and this is the only way I know how. Thank you for following me all of these months and years, I appreciate it more than I can ever articulate.

Just gonna say it for that one person who might need to hear it. You moderate your own fandom experience. Step back if you need to. Stop over-analyzing every scene if you think you're losing your love for the fandom. Walk away from your friend group if you're feeling alienated and unheard.

The past month, my mental health has been astronomically better. Because I did the above. I feel like I can actually enjoy the things I watch and the fandoms I'm in. I don't have to just focus on the minute details, and come up with headcanons that I don't believe in or think will ever happen. It's a glorious and freeing feeling.

Also, I rarely use Tumblr anymore, because the overlap from before is too much. I may come back in a while, just pop in and drop a fic or a post, but there won't be anything consistent out of me here anymore, barring the two writing challenges that I take part in. (Febuwhump and Whumptober. No bingos or calendars in sight this year.)

Stepping back was probably the best option. And honestly, I would never go back. My life has taken such a positive turn. One that I thought I might not see for a long time, but now I can see it clear as day.

not to bring this up for the billionth time but nothing seems to have changed so here we are again! let’s go.

it really is so sad that nobody interacts with fic writers anymore. i don’t think any non-writer really has a clue as to just how much effort and time goes into writing, whether it be a 500-word drabble or a 60k fic. the readership on tumblr has become very passive lately; people will absorb a piece and then click out of it like nothing ever happened. i get several messages a week asking me if i’ve read xyz fanfic, and while i don’t mind helping people track down a fic, i just have to say: you wouldn’t have lost/forgotten it if you’d reblogged it, babe!

and the worst part of it all is that, as a writer, you’re constantly asked when you’re going to post something new, but as soon as you do, all you get back is just. radio silence. so, really, why do we bother with writing anymore? we write to share, we write to evoke emotions, we write because we want people to engage and interact with us about what we’ve created.

support fic writers. reblog their work if you enjoyed reading it. getting likes on a piece is nice, but they do nothing to help spread the fic and help it reach a wider audience. and for the love of god, leave feedback! send a quick message to the writers you love and tell them that you enjoyed their piece! you can go into as little or as much detail as you like, it really doesn’t matter. just please, try to give back because we work so hard and put so much effort into our writing, and to receive absolutely nothing in return is the most discouraging thing in the world.
