Tidy/Clean/Hygiene Tips & Tricks
Last updated on: 8 July 2026
I'm mainly writing this list for low moods, low energy, chronic pain and fatigue. But, if you have more to add to this list that helps other conditions, let me know and I'll add on and give credit to you.
Tidy
1. I declutter before I tidy up. Less stuff means less things to tidy up. I section my house and declutter one item from the area everyday. For example: day 1, study table, declutter 1 item.
Clean
1. Micro-clean. No house is ever going to be 100% clean. So, it's ok to clean section by section. What I do is whenever I use a space, I clean it afterwards. But just a section of it. For example, I use the TV area. When I leave, I clear off the things from the couch or wipe down the TV rack.
2. When I notice rubbish accumulating at a certain spot, I put a bin there to throw the rubbish away. I clear it every night before I head to bed.
3. When I'm fatigued or in pain but want to refresh my space, I use wet tissues to wipe down the floors and furniture. I wear gloves because sometimes the wetness of the tissue over stimulates me. I understand that it's not the most sustainable choice. But it's what's helping me in this season of my life.
Personal Hygiene
1. Dental care is important. Brush teeth twice a day and floss once. Sometimes with all my pains it takes me half an hour to an hour. It doesn't matter. So long, I get it done and I watch some shows or podcasts to keep me occupied.
2. Shampoo and condition. I try to do it at the same time. Rinse hair, apply conditioner to the ends of my hair, shampoo the scalp, rinse together and repeat. On tough days, I skip the conditioner and wash my hair once. I wash my hair everyday with a gentle shampoo anyway so I don't necessarily have to repeat it.
I sometimes massage my scalp with rosemary oil to relieve scalp tension before my hair care.
And dry with t shirt to prevent frizziness. Sometimes I air dry but most days I use the hairdryer.
3. I use micellar water to cleanse my skin and remove my makeup. No need to rinse. Just pour some on a cotton pad and wipe. I find this more merciful than having painful acne. :(
4. I try to at least apply sunscreen when I head out. Skincare can be difficult some days. But sunscreen is healthcare. I find that the easiest kind to apply are the stick ones, just swipes.

Notes:
- I usually don't spend a lot of money on the things above. I try to get the cheap but okay-ish quality ones.
- I'll update this list as and when. I'm sorry if it's messy. I'll try to polish it up as I go.
- 5 July 2026 - I just wanted to share this: I'm writing this list as I'm actually doing them. I put things on the list I can actually do. But it's tough. Things like wearing makeup and taking them off... Inflammation on my fingers makes it so painful. If you're trying to sort your life out and you're reading this, in this time, I am praying for you. That you may be granted the strength, mentally and physically to make your space clean, tidy and safe for your rest and recovery. Just a random thought. :)
Stay safe, take care. 🩷
