MAGA-controlled social media is doing the work of book bans by suppressing support for marginalized authors.
If you haven’t seen much from us on TikTok this week, that’s why. Our recent post celebrating and supporting Trans Day of Visibility was shadowbanned.
It’s nothing new: TikTok has long flagged words like lesbian, gay, transgender—alongside posts about genocide, social justice, and political resistance—burying them under the opacity of “safety guidelines.”
What’s changed is the scale and precision—now with TikTok under the control of Larry Ellison (Trump bff and one of the architects of the surveillance ecosystem), today’s moderation systems are AI-automated with a new agenda.
We’ve already seen posts muted or made unsearchable for using innocuous language—terms like anti-capitalist, fascism (anything the administration aims to deem “domestic terrorism”), even the word "censorship" itself.
We’re not deleting anything, and we’re not softening our language to appease the algorithm. And we’re especially not walking back our support—thank you to everyone who helped us raise funds last week for Trans Lifeline and the ACLU.
A huge part of our community gathers on platforms like TikTok and X. We share work and updates there; we support creators there—many of them queer writers who are still making content and will not disappear.
We just wanted to mention how fucked it is that one of the largest creative platforms is silencing queer language and the politics of liberation: this is blatant censorship being passed off as "content moderation."
Visibility is resistance—and writing, naming things as they are, is the first defence. Trans rights are not up for debate, and the words to defend those rights are not going anywhere.

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

Hey so I feel like this is a bad idea and presents more incentive for spam and post-thieving. The biggest problem this presents is an even larger fracturing of information on what is already a rather difficult site to gather consensus information on. Are those who created the initial post now left in the dark if someone were to create a new reblog under their original post? Is the idea of any post reaching 1,000, 5,000, 10,000... notes now completely impossible? People do like virality to a degree, shrinking the sphere of interaction to individual posts risks individualizing the communities here on tumblr even further and risks hurting artists outreach on their original posts.

"You have something there," Jisung murmured, his voice dropping low. There was an almost dominating edge to his voice that held Chenle captive.
Chenle swallowed, his mouth and throat dry, as he froze in place. He held his breath, watching Jisung slowly reach out toward him.
Jisung leaned in, his fingers catching Chenle's chin to tilt it upwards forcing their eyes to meet. His thumb swiped across his lower lip, hovering over the plump curve in the middle, applying just enough pressure to part his lips. The touch was like a match, igniting a spark deep within that threatened to consume. A feverish flush rushed up his neck. His entire body felt like it would burst into flames.
Chenle's hand snapped up, moving before he could even process what he had done. He dug his fingers into Jisung's wrist, his skin blazing beneath his fingertips. Chenle had meant to stop him. He meant to throw Jisung's hand away and bring back some semblance of normalcy between them. Instead, before Jisung could speak or move, Chenle flicked his tongue out, licking the pad of his thumb.
Jisung's eyes darkened and the air seemed to shift around them. His pheromones became unbearably heavy, laced with a palpable hunger that left Chenle breathless.
"A-alpha," he whimpered, tightening his grip on Jisung’s wrist. He closed his eyes and savored the taste of Jisung on his tongue.
Sharp, bitter citrus that brought images of long summers, but it was the undercurrent of heavy musk that lingered on his tongue. Intoxicating. Addicting. Craving more, he wrapped his lips around the digit, hollowing his cheeks to suck him in.
The effect was instantaneous. Jisung shot from his seat, his fork clattering to the ground, and buried his right hand in the hair near Chenle's nape. He tangled his fingers around the strands and pulled, not rough enough to hurt but just enough to make Chenle's toes curl. He groaned, throwing his head back and baring his throat for the alpha.
Jisung's thumb was long and rough, pressing heavy into his mouth as Chenle curled his tongue around the digit. The taste of his skin left him feeling high, his head dizzy and clouded by the alpha pheromones. Chenle whimpered at the sensation, feeling his body go lax. The only thing keeping him grounded was his grip on Jisung's wrist.
"Chenle," Jisung hissed, his voice on the edge of a growl. "Stop."
Chenle's mind raced with the desire to see how far he could push. How far could he go before Jisung snapped? He moaned around his thumb, relishing in the way Jisung's eyes blew wide, before he pulled back, releasing his thumb slowly with a wet slide of his lips. He let his teeth drag along the underside of his finger, scraping against the pad of his thumb before relinquishing him fully.
"Mmm, Yummy," Chenle whispered and licked his lip, a satisfied rumble settling in his chest as he watched the shift in Jisung's expression.
