A very interesting concept. All the stones are the same color, but their structure is different.
Let go of that thing that’s been eating at you today and enjoy keeping your mental and emotional energy, which you would have spent if you’d stayed upset about something or someone you can’t change.
Kinda needed this today... Wish I'd read it earlier. :-)
This week’s Oracle/Tarot Combo are The Oracle of the Shapeshifters by Lucy Cavendish and Jasmine Becket-Griffith and The Tarot of the Magical Forest by Hsu Chi Chun and Leo Tang.
I also used the Deck of 1000 Spreads by Tierney Sadler to divine a spread for this reading.
This Kitsune card has come up THREE times today. Once for my personal reading and twice for a reading for sharing. Yes, I did shuffle well all three times. I also counted down to the 24th card (today is the 24th) and this card was the 24th card EVERY TIME. So someone besides me needs this card too.
Here’s the interpretation… You need to be aware of issues of trust within your friendships. Someone has taken a swipe at you in the past or will take a swipe at you soon (Knave/Page of Swords). The relationship is at an end. Walk away and leave it behind you (Death-NOT actual death). Avoid retaliating or stabbing the person in the back. And watch your own back (10 of Swords). The Rune Othala is about movement. So take action, leave the relationship. Don’t wait anymore. Move. Take action.

Very interesting. Couple of more Christian references, which aren't my thing. But as a whole, a neat perspective.
Cleansing Stones with Air
We're getting ready for my parents to visit, so we're cleaning. Hubby is vacuuming. I figured I'd blow some of the dust off my dresser top full of stones before he vacuums this room. I was inefficiently blowing air with my mouth when hubby handed me a can of compressed air. Yeah... So anyway, I used the compressed air to blow dust off my stones. I'm fairly surprised at how much BETTER they feel after a simple dusting. The compressed air got off a lot of the dust and stirred up the energy. The whole dresser top of stones feels so much better! So much lighter and brighter, energetically speaking. I don't clean much or often. Chronic illness affects my energy and I experience a lot of fatigue. This simple cleaning helped stir up the stagnant energy. Things feel much better, lighter, not so stagnant and heavy.

The Lost Art of Reading Nature’s Signs: Use Outdoor Clues to Find Your Way, Predict the Weather, Locate Water, Track Animals, and Other Forgotten Skills Tristan Gooley The Experiment, LLC 2014 402 pages
I promise I actually still read books! I just read them more slowly these days, which is why it took me over a month to work my way through Tristan Gooley’s excellent The Lost Art of Reading Nature’s Signs. And I enjoyed it so much I wanted to be sure I shared it with you.
Have you ever had a book that you were really, really excited to read? This is one of those books for me. As soon as I saw it in a little bookstore in Ilwaco, WA, I knew I needed to not only buy it and read it but absorb it. As the title suggests, it’s a detailed look at how to use signs in the landscape to determine everything from where you’re headed to what the weather will do and what various living beings you may meet along the way. Most of the chapters are dedicated to specific areas of study, such as animal tracks or what you can tell from local flora, fungi and lichens. But they’re interspersed with a few chapters of the author’s anecdotes, which not only illustrate the concepts therein, but also demonstrate that even a master outdoorsperson can get lost!
Because the book is neatly divided into chapters, it makes a good workbook for improving your skills at noticing and interpreting these clues. Even better, the last chapter includes specific tips and exercises to hone your abilities in each chapter’s bailiwick. My intent, now that I’ve read the book through once, is to make use of it on my own travels, first working through it chapter by chapter, and then integrating everything together.
Even if you aren’t very active outdoors, it’s still an incredibly fascinating read with numerous “Wow, I had NO idea!” moments in store for you. Gooley very obviously loves nature and has spent countless hours reading its fine print with gusto. At a time when many people simply see “nature” as the unending scenery outside, he invites us to pay attention to the minute details and the stories they tell, and then wrap them all back up into great ecosystemic symphonies. This is a must-have for anyone whose path intersects with the natural world, whether practically, artistically, spiritually or otherwise.
You can buy the book directly from the publisher here. You can also get a taste of the sorts of skills in this book on the author’s website, well worth perusing.
I got this recently, but am still intimidated by the amount of information and the size of the book.
Honestly? It’s a lot of pages, but it’s an easy read. The author’s got a great, engaging voice and doesn’t hit you with too much information at once. The way he divides things up into chapters breaks it down in a sensible manner, and you can either read a chapter and then work with the material, or do like I did and read the whole thing then go back and try it out bit by bit.
Ugh, what the heck is up with all these new followers that are either porn or ones that invite you to snap chat, so are likely porn?!?! These are automatically blocked by me when I see them. I had 5 start following me today! If you follow me or reblog I will check your tumblr. If you are porn or don't have posts or I see stuff I fundamentally disagree with, I will block you, period.
Reading Tarot While Sick. Note: Before I begin this post I would like to encourage everyone to please read the disclaimer within the post notes of this blog post.
For those who do not know, I suffer from several chronic illnesses and this past week I have had a really bad cold to the point where I was mostly in bed. But I am also a Tarot reader and I have pre-booked in person appointments weekly and I found that this life experience of being sick as well as being a Tarot reader would make a great post as I was actively going through it. I wanted to provide some tips, personal experiences and things that have worked for me during times when I read Tarot, especially for other people while sick.
24 Hour Notices: I cannot stress the importance of giving clients a 24-hour notice that you aren’t feeling well. Most clients understand and are happy to reschedule. What I like to do is always refund half my rate because of the inconvenience for the client of rescheduling.  Because I do deal with chronic illnesses, sometimes I do not have the luxury of 24-hour notices. I can be fine one hour and be in debilitating pain the next. If I know my body cannot physically get through a reading, I call the client as soon as possible, let them know the situation, and ask if they would like to reschedule. If they do not want to reschedule, I refund them immediately and apologize for the inconvenience. It is always important to know your bodies limits.
Splitting Up Readings: When I do in person readings, I am paid for my time, not the spread or the amount of cards I pull, so depending on the amount of time the reading that was paid for is going to take, I ask the client if they would mind if we could perform half the reading today and the other half another day. I only do this for timing over 45 minutes. Most clients are always understanding and are more than happy to split their reading into two parts.
Get Better Tool Kit: I would be lying if I said that there aren’t times when I feel like I am dying but I still provide readings. Sometimes this is out of necessity to be able to afford the medicine I need to get better and other times to not disappoint the client. In those cases, I have a Get Better Tool Kit. Before my in-person readings, I always make sure to confirm an hour before with the client, and during this process when I am sick, I make sure to tell the client that I am feeling under the weather and ask if they still want to continue with the reading. Most do not mind and proceed with the reading appointment. In this toolkit, I carry with me hand sanitizer, disposable face masks, vitamin c tablets, emergen-c fizzy drink mix, portable disinfectant, water, two tea bags of lemon and honey tea, throat lozenges, lip balm, tissues, and ibuprofen. I find that these things work for me when I am sick, help me not spread as many germs as possible and help me get through the day, especially one full of in person readings. I encourage you to create your own get better tool kit during situations like these with things that help you feel better.
Medicine: Be accountable for your medicine, what you are taking, how much you are taking, when you are taking it, etc. I make sure that if I am doing in person readings that I do not take anything that I know is going to impair my judgment, make me drowsy or cause me to not be in control of my body. If I am taking let’s say an antibiotic that needs to be taken every day at a certain time, I make sure to set a reminder on my phone. If the timer goes off in the middle of a reading, I make sure to snooze the alarm until the reading is complete. After the reading is over, I excuse myself and take my medicine. I also make sure to keep track of what I am drinking in regards to my medicine. I know that I cannot drink certain herbal beverages because they can interfere with my medicine and my body in different ways. It is important to always be safe especially when taking medicine.
Bodily Needs: I always try to listen to what my body needs. I like to stay hydrated and moderately fed between readings, whether it is just a small snack or cup of tea. I also like to spritz some water on my face every hour to keep me feeling awake and hydrated. I think it is always beneficial to stretch and even get some fresh air if the weather permits. These things really help me to be comfortable while giving a reading and being sick.
Networked Referrals: Here in NYC, I am part of a Tarot Network with other professional readers. When I am feeling sick and cannot make an appointment, I ask the client if they would like to have a reading with another reader that I highly recommend. Most of the time they agree and I set up the reading with the Tarot reader of my choosing from within the network. I usually get half the rate of the reading for the referral which is also nice. I have yet to have any client complain of a referral reading.
Reformatting Readings: Another option that I don’t use often but have used before with great success is asking the client if they would mind the reading in a different format rather than in person. What I would offer the client is if they would like the reading done through private web communications such as Skype or Facebook. I have also recorded readings, where the reading would be video recorded in my home and sent to them through e-mail or uploaded privately to YouTube. I have also offered recorded readings with just voice and the photograph of the cards. I have also offered typed email readings and readings over the phone as well. All these are great options to provide to clients if you cannot physically do in person readings because you are sick.
Energy Levels: When I am sick, especially when reading Tarot for other people, it is important to keep my energy levels in check. Tarot readings really drain me without being sick, and when I am sick it is worst. Even if it takes me a minute or two longer to get the reading done, I always allow myself time to pause and take a break between interpreting large chunks of information in a reading. Â I also monitor my tea and coffee intake as these can alter my energy levels quite drastically.Â
Scheduling: Something that I do that is important even when I am not sick is to not have my reading appointments be one right after the other. Especially when I am sick, I think this would hurt me so much. I always try and space at least thirty minutes between my last appointment and my next one. This allows me to get up, use the bathroom if needed, stretch, etc. I like to have time to catch my breath, sip some warm tea and gather my thoughts. I also do not schedule any new readings during this time. This allows me to focus on getting better instead of worrying about future readings.
Tarot Deck Wellness: Something that I like to personally do after I get home from readings is to take my deck and place it on a plate within a salt circle. I usually say a prayer or affirmation to help get rid of any of the sicky energy it may have absorbed during my time of being unwell. When I wake up from a good rest, I let my deck hang out with some crystals for a few hours and then it is good to use again. I like to think of it as my deck having a little get well spa day. lol
Rest, Rest, Rest: I know that that is a given but it is so important to get as much rest as you can. Although I have not once received a complaint of a reading I gave while sick, I know that being my best self when performing readings is when I am feeling better. It is important to take care of yourself. Your body, your deck, and your clients will thank you in the long run.

This is such an excellent article. I too deal with chronic illness and am working on starting a Tarot business this year.

Today’s card is the Happy Squirrel. This card started as an in-joke among tarot readers after a scene in an early Simpsons episode, but has since been embraced as a modern addition by some deck designers. Have you ever seen a squirrel dart out into the road in front of your car or bike, freeze, dart back and forth, and then run away again? It may seem nonsensical to us, but to the squirrel it’s a legitimate response to the confusion of a sudden attack. Today you may have to look a little deeper to find the meaning of things, especially when they don’t make immediate sense. Sometimes we have to try a few different perspectives, and then suddenly everything comes into perfect focus!

I used these two yesterday and today for help with coping with a migraine that was lingering, even after taking meds and supplements. Labradorite and Iolite I've tried quite a few other crystals during migraines. None helped me as much as these two did. Just goes to show that different crystals work uniquely for different people.
I don’t have joint hypermobility, but I do have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. One of the worst flares/relapses I ever had was from graded exercise therapy prescribed by a doctor and administered by a physical therapist. It left me practically bedridden for a time. So I have valid reasons to be wary of exercise recommended by health care practitioners. So often they don’t understand just how badly exertion can backfire on us. Then we’re looked at as “mental” because we’re afraid to push, afraid to exercise and exert ourselves, when that fear has been proven justified time and time again. I just absolutely LOVE this article. It is so completely applicable to me.
