āThere are a lot of good things that come with being in the Marvel universe. The greatest thing is when you see kids light up when they see you. Itās pretty wonderful, to be able to make a kidās day like that.ā - Jeremy Renner

here it is. the book review none of you asked for!
i am an audible member so it was a no brainer to listen to this rather than read a hard copy. and whilst i stand by that decision it was hard to listen to some of the 911 call clips, and extra hard to hear jeremy's voice break from time to time, for him to pause to regain control as he was talking about the tougher stuff. and there is some very tough stuff in here! not for the squeamish. got a little light headed and tingly at a particular section relating to his jaw.
but hearing his voice crack over the good stuff is worth it. when he talks of the love of his family and friends and yes, even his fans. i was particularly happy to hear these are clearly his own words. i am not saying it won't have gone through an editing process. but having listened to pretty much every interview he has given in the last 20 years you can hear his familiar vernacular, phrases and mantras.
i am a big fan of this man as an actor and a human (warts and all) so my opinion will have an obvious bias. i can objectively note that it is little repetitive in places - those life lessons and mantras from both before and after the incident - but this is clearly part of his process. his sheer determination to will his body to heal for himself and everyone else impacted.
it's raw and honest and painful. but that devilish humour shines through.
Iām definitely using this months audible credit on this!
