Taylor’s Instagram Story (December 10th 2020)
TAYLOR SWIFT in EVERMORE SPOTIFY CLIPS
Stella McCartney: “Knowing someone well makes creating something for them easier. With Taylor, everything happened so naturally; the pieces I made reflected the effortless emotionality of her album. Complementing a friend’s creation is rare and precious and feels incredibly special.” – Stella
“When a friend comes to you, explaining they need help styling and finding pieces to reflect her new secret project, it’s a rare and precious gift. Creating the collection was effortless – a rare moment full of warmth and ease, at a time when friendship is more important than ever.” – Stella (X)

Hi Jaime, I'm confused about the way Aaron said "folder" in the Vulture interview, do you think it means he wrote some chords and melodies then sent them to Taylor for her to put lyrics on?
okay so he actually defined it in the vulture interview as a footnote but it wasn’t a good quote. let me post what he said here:
I would recommend reading the uproxx article about folklore by philip cosores just because I really appreciate the way he addressed the fact that some people are only now giving her credit because the sound of the album is what they consider deep when she's been writing great songs all along.
LITERALLY THIS! Pretending Taylor just now started writing deep lyrics.. Someone who calls it out. (x)
I’m confused so which songs are about Taylor and her life and which aren’t
okay so to start with, every song on this record is, to some degree, autobiographical. some of that is intentional; some of it isn’t, because she has to pull experience from somewhere. a lot of the blurring of fact and fiction here, which is perfect, lets her get more imaginative with her stories. the whole album in a lot of ways is hinged on the themes of fate and destiny and exploring the ways that things could have gone before ending on the way that it actually did go, thanks to the invisible string. using characters lets her unpack narratives and play with different endings and also (and i think most importantly) explore themes and topics that are prevalent in her life but were scary to dive into in a strictly autobiographical way. with that said though, here’s how i think it ultimately breaks down:
the 1: all characters
cardigan: trio narrated by betty, shared with taylor
the last great american dynasty: rebekah, shared with taylor
exile: mostly taylor but largely fictionalized
my tears ricochet: taylor, shared with rebekah
mirrorball: taylor
seven: taylor
august: the trio narrated by member #3, shared with taylor
this is me trying: taylor
illicit affairs: taylor, but with some aspects of the trio and also partly fictionalized
invisible string: taylor
mad woman: taylor, but shared with rebekah
epiphany: taylor’s grandpa mixed with a hefty dose of fear of losing her mom
betty: the trio narrated by james
peace: taylor
hoax: taylor, and connected to exile but less fiction

Hi! If it’s not too much trouble do you know how/where can I download all the small promo clips from spotify for folklore? I dont how to view them actually(just saw some here) much less download them. Would love to make some edits out of them thats why🙃
I think that’s all of them, or at least most of them...
“The only thing she said to me initially was that she didn’t want me to worry about anything that she’d done before and that I should just be myself — just inhabit the emotional space that you’re feeling or your musical and emotional space. And so I really didn’t endeavor to become Max Martin or whoever. I was just sort of being myself. And so was she. I think she’s incredibly versatile, obviously. A lot of these songs, they sound to me as though she could have been doing this all along in her career, this kind of sound or something. It’s not at all unnatural. In fact, it sounds incredible. This is all complete. It’s finished. It feels produced, but I think it will feel fairly organic or raw compared to past things. At some point, Taylor did articulate her vision for folklore. Other songs came after that. I was very inspired by her and what she’d been writing, and then I wrote more music, and she responded to that. We just started to push ahead…She’s just an absolutely brilliant artist. Allowing her to flourish like that, there was no pressure. She wasn’t trying to make something for anyone else except for herself in this time. I don’t think even her label knew. We were just working. That’s maybe the liberating. When you put something in the pipeline of the music industry and it takes months of prep — not to take anything away from that because it’s important, especially if you’re coming up and you don’t have an audience. But once you do, I think it’s nice to play around the form of it. The world is a different place right now, and nobody really knows. All the rules are being rewritten. Live music is not happening. And in a way, it’s nice to make something and just put it out because people are stuck at home and being able to hear something. This will be a really positive gift for her fans.”

Yeah, that's weird to me too... It's like what Tree said when Taylor was about to post on Instagram, she said "As a publicist I have to warn you of some things before you post this", and she said those things, even though it was not gonna change Taylor's mind, but she had too, it's her job... How come people don't have anyone to warn them... But hey, this is why Taylor is Taylor and she, oppose to many other artists, has always said that she does everything because of legacy...
Yeah, I think most of the times artists say stuff like that because they want to seem more badass. Because, you know - in reality ideally they would walk a fine line between the “I give zero fucks” mentality and “do as you’re told” obedience. But just for PR purposes (especially for a band like The Chicks) declaring no one tells you what to do and that you’d “give them the finger” is more about cultivating an image I think. I mean, at least I hope so. Cause otherwise, that kind of attitude unmistakably leads into chaos and destruction eventually.
Celebrities are celebrities, and as much as they’d like to believe they have a grasp on everything and their decision-making is god given - that is simply not the case. Hell, not one person on Earth can claim that, it’s just not realistic. That is why you have advisors and people who are supposed to question you, and if you can bypass their line of questioning with logical and realistic answers and reasoning - then yeah, go ahead with what you wanted to do. But otherwise... maybe it’s time to listen to others.
Yeah, I kinda assumed something like that would be the case. As you said yourself - different time, different circumstances, different artist.
“I was shocked at how many people were telling her not to speak out. I would have never had a boardroom of people telling me if it’s OK for me to do something. I would give them the finger. We never thought about it in those terms but it’s very interesting to hear Maren Morris or Kacey Musgraves or other women in music saying that we paved the way for them to feel confident that they could speak out and have a point of view and voice it. And I think it’s extra great that Taylor Swift is getting political now because it doesn’t come naturally for her to tell people, ‘Fuck you, I’m not going to run it by the board.’”

SiriusXM with Taylor Swift: live performance of “The Archer”, “YNTCD”, “Daylight” and Q&A with fans (August 23rd 2019)
“Taylor Swift is one of the most famous people in the world, but longtime fans will still find something new in Lana Wilson’s thoughtful, inspiring documentary Miss Americana, which follows the singer through the last few years as she rethinks how she wants to live her life under a massive spotlight. The bits filming her in the recording studio feature cute reveals (Taylor hadn’t ever tried a burrito until a few years ago!), but the documentary is most fascinating when it focuses in on a woman trying to deprogram the misogynistic messaging she received her whole life. It’s there she’s less a superstar and more just another young woman realizing she was sold a shitty bag of goods in a patriarchal society. Swift speaks candidly about disordered eating, her political awakening, and her relationship to the attention and media in a refreshing way, and by the time she’s once again taking to the stage guitar in hand, it’s all you can do not to stand up and cheer alongside the massive crowd.”
— Mashable ranks Miss Americana as the 9th best movie released in 2020 so far (June 27th 2020)
Do u know where the video of the guy asking Taylor in french what she would do if her boyfriend forgot her birthday and she said he wouldn’t is?
There is no video of that part unfortunately. However, since I have the audio of the whole interview, you can check out that part starting from 19:45 mark.
